Glorious scenery. When I was on my boating holidays, this was the one thing I found so inspiring. Thanks so much for making new memories for an old lady XXX
Great Vlog Robbie. I used to spend so many hours waiting for trains to come when my son was little!😀 Now he has real time trains so no more hanging around!! Those bridges and the aqueducts were amazing, great drone footage. 😀
A top vlog Robbie. Dont know how you accumulated all these amazing mates. Simple really, you're a great bloke. A bit of maintenance to start, bit of shopping, and a bit of getting people to help you through the locks. Top it of with a history catchup. Many thanks, and take care.
Hey up Robbie good vlog hope you enjoyed your little visit through wakey was good to see your and boat come down the Calder the morning you moored up across from the ruddy duck enjoyed the chat with you,, still want a boat my self , one day,
Great video we holiday in the UK with our touring caravan we take basic food and shop locally we dont go abroad as we have 2 dogs and they holiday with us. Like you I like to feel we are contributing to the local economy in St Ives nr Huntingdon Cambs the caravan club site contributes millions to the local economy of the town every year.
Hi Robbie, just catching up with your series from two years ago on bbc 4 . Enjoying it again so much, I think it was the first bbc series you did and I am enjoying you telling us all the basics of canal boating. It is so very interesting and it was this programme made me an avid follower of your blog here. Quite a while since I commented so I hope you are well and busy as ever, kindest regards Margaret.
13.22 Fairies Hill Marina. My first night spent on a boat was here, above the lock you say is disused. (the first lock I went through) on a new sail-away called AMBER. Soon to be called Gilda Rose. That was 19 years ago! What a journey. I'll never forget it.
Great voyage. Remember doing that same route many years ago. Stanley Ferry is a wonderful place, so many happy hours there. Castleford has changed so much since all the pits closed, good to see the place is still vibrant. Keep up the good work, PMh
Great vlog Robbie, my stomping ground, If you’re still at Stanley ferry, there’s a pub on Heath Common called The Kings Arms about a 30 mins walk away, great historical pub
First time I saw a shot of your chimney on the port side I thought it looked like a sitting cat with its ears sticking up. Now I can't unsee that damn cat 😃
Another superb video and great to hear that there's another BBC series soon.I love your interest in bridges , I'm the same , it's great seeing the underside of them. The Victorians certainly knew what they were doing as there are hundreds still standing and still being used for much heavier trains and traffic that they were built for and they are beautiful as well especially when viewed from the water.Perhaps you ought to do a bridge of the week as well!
Nice video, Robbie. I remember Castelford very well. We popped into a friendly pub and they asked "are you on the yachts?". Early next morning, we were awakened by the lock-keeper as our bow mooring had strangely become undone overnight and we were in danger of drifting onto the weir. Love your videos. Stay safe and wishing you happy cruising.
Excellent vlog Robbie... brilliant stretch off water with the two viaducts yes it would have been nice to see a choo choo going across.. Hope you are keeping well mucker. Keep on cranking. Cheers Pal.
Just great!! I’ve watched your vlogs from the beginning and you always succeed in making me smile 😊 no matter what else is going on in life. Keep going, looking forward to the next video!
Hi Robbie, love the recent videos on my old stomping ground. Grew up next to Stanley Ferry and all the surrounding fields and the old waste grounds from Parkhill Colliery. Not sure if you’re still in the area but have a look at the Newlands ‘ghost town’ hamlet. It’s literally a 10 minute walk from where you moored before the aqueduct. Also Old Park Farm a little further down (next to canal) was where the falcons and owls used in Harry Potter films were from. It’s now derelict as the owner was charged with animal cruelty and neglect and fled.
Glad you are cruising and vlogging again. Nice truck, by the way! I enjoy your vids hope the season treats you well, and you stay healthy and cranking. Pnut butter and marshmellow beer 😝😁😁😁
Hi Robbie, Brilliant Vlog. I noticed you were keeping to the middle of the river this time. Great Boatyards, and the Pub of the Week looked amazing. Take Care.
Hi Robbie, nice to see you again, hope you are all well m when was this taken looks like summer some interesting places on the way love it ,beautiful drone shots Robbie you see so much what you would not see with out the drone great flying, the pub looks good very good choice of menu ,till next time take care keep safe, john 🍻🍻🍻👍🤩🌟🌟

Oi oi great to see you on the Aire and Caulder 😁 Am moving my boat down to Northampton in the next couple of months, maybe see you in the Nene sometime 🙃
Superb looking sailing. Thinking of getting over there next spring. Definitely up for a breakfast Kebab, and a visit to the brewery/ supplier. Where's your oil leaking from? Hope its nothing too serious
Cider question for anyone. Here in the USA there is usually only one or two on tap, if that. I usually have to buy it by bottle when out. Do pubs in the UK usually have multiple cider taps or is it just one or two?
In most chain pubs you have two taps, both fizzy keg ciders, one might be a medium dry perhaps more upmarket one, and the other usually a blackcurrant flavoured one which is unbelievably popular. Lots of flavoured bottled ciders in the fridge. In a few traditional pubs however you can find hand pulled cider and maybe even a perry if you’re lucky, and sometimes they go out back and fill it straight from the keg 😂
Really enjoyed rewatching the first series of Canal Boat Diaries and kudos for nailing the pronunciation of Slaithwaite, Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Todmorden. Other canal vloggers take note.
I smile when you say 5 or 6 C because it was -12C all day yesterday. Thanks for the smile and the great videos. I finally caught up with the present. When you moor on the outside of another boat do you walk across that boat to get to the shore?
Well minus 12 you won’t be out travelling on a boat I guess! Yes absolutely it can be a bit odd being inside while someone walks across but at least you know when they are in/out!!
Robbie ever fished off the boat using a rod and a few top lures etc? You could do a catch and cook session in the kitchen. Smoke a few kippers as the story goes.
Thanks for calling in and sharing on your channel matey! Great to see you the other day too. Hopefully won’t be long before you’re back again, be good to share a pint too when you are 👍🍺
Hi Robbie. New your channel but loving your videos. Also watching you on BBC 4. Have you spent anytime down on the Shropshire union? Or other canals near? The 5 counties ring or anything like that? We have a boat in market drayton and are slowly getting used to the area. Previously we had a boat in Gailey near Wolverhampton and that was a great stretch of the canal. A little bit of everything. Anyway just a message to say hello and hopefully see you down this way soon?
Hi Dan yep 2020 filmed a series in that exact neck of the woods started an episode in Market Drayton believe it or not! It’s all in series two but no idea when that will be repeated I’m afraid.
Great video Robbie. All these fancy IPA's make my head spin, give me a good Lager, Pilsner, Ale or Stout. Looks like a nice P.O.T.W. I'm checking out the menu as I type, never know when I may make it out there and need a place to eat.
Do you find it frustrating having to move your Truck, and then having to travel back to move the boat? How do you tend to get back to the boat after dropping the Truck off? Public transport?
Yeah whatever takes my fancy really! It’s dead handy in winter when all you want to do is moor up and hibernate but in summer i will leave it at my mum and dad’s house 😂
Love your vids Robbie, even started watching you more than David Johns!! Are you in Wakefield, Castleford, Altofts, Horbury etc, etc any time soon? Would love to come n say hi 👋
Nice vlog. Thanks. Beautiful views and architecture. One note about the captions on the video. If you're putting something at the top in the sky area, white print doesn't show up well at all. I couldn't read much of it, especially as fast as it goes by. May your Joy increase in the New Year!

Visually beautiful video--you're an artist. Loved seeing the shops, the bargains, the town or marina people. Enjoyed it all very much.
