@Winston Pratt seems more companies would wanna spend the extra few bucks, break the mold. Start designing and then send their designs out for build. @@itdoesntmatterwhatyourname6128 Rebadging is not as common as many people think. There are many build houses and they copy the basic design, but there are many small differences. Some higher or lower in quality and different small features.
I’ve hooked up many of the full bridge DB, sound digital, and taramps on 16volt yinlong banks. Ran the amps at .5-.67 ohm and zero issues. Yes I’m aware after rise I’m around 2 ohm. Sometimes higher. Obviously these are low voltage amps. That protect issue is weird. Great power.
U shouldnt have any problems running 0.33ohm connection either. It doesnt matter how u wire ur elements when ur real impedance is around rated where amp is stable. I hate people saying shit in internet like "been running 0.25 all day long with no issues" meanwhile after rise real impedance for example is around 1ohm

@@minus3dbintheteens60 I don’t need to think about it. I’ve installed and used enough amps and dsps to know that it’s a bad idea…as well as a board with those cheaper easily movable plastic potentiometers 🤢🤮 there’s a reason really nice equipment keeps em flush or below, metal, as well as requiring quite a bit more rotational force to set, keeping them immovable under excessive vibrations…you know..the environment of a vehicle.
Can you do a video on the VFL Comp 3k vs 4k amps? I want my setup to match so I've been looking at American Bass/ VFL amps to go with my subwoofer. I have a American Bass HD 12D2 with a Taramps Smart 3 currently. I don't want to go backwards with RMS watts. The VFL Comp 3k has a fuse rating of 200 amps (which seems small) 200A x 14.4V = 2,880W. The VFL Comp 4k has a fuse rating of 350 (150 amp fuse rating difference from 3k to 4k seems a little ridiculous) 350A x 14.4V = 5,040W. I have also looked at the VFL Stealth 5500.1 (rated 2,800 RMS on Amazon, HOWEVER, on website it says 250-2400 RMS). American Bass PH-4000 seems to be 2k RMS and that's apparently laughable (dynoed at 1,800). PLEASE HELP ME! I would like to run a FULL American Bass/VFL setup. If I cannot figure something out I believe I will just buy a Teampie 4k
In retrospect, it's probably a good thing I didn't have this amp in the early 90s. I am already nearly deaf in my right ear and I am pretty sure my 1977 maverick with two 125 amp alternators and a couple of deep cycles in the truck, just would not be up to the 600 amp task. As it was, my headlights would practically go out with the beat.
Gang, I'm half deaf on the right and completely deaf on the left. Been for years! Not from bass though, that came when I became an adult and it certainly isn't helping - nor is my career choice, mechanic in a shop that doesn't believe in ppe ;¬;
Your completely wrong ,only with playing the wrong frequencys will you go deaf, play stuff thats to high and it'll go quick. You can have 100k watts on subwoofers and aslong as your tweeters aren't set wrong, you will not go deaf
Hello BigD, Your testing videos are really good. I have query, could you pls suggest - What's your opinion on Sundown SALT 1700.5 amp using for an SQ build to power Morel Hybrid 602 and Morel Ultimo titanium SC Subwoofer. All running active. Thank you verymuch
Great content as always "Big D"!!! Can't wait to see their comment on whats causing the protect problem on the dyno. Thats an odd problem to not replicate itself on subwoofers. As they are the "dynamic" test run essentially.
Before anyone asks, yes I looked in the video description and everywhere listed in the video description for this before I asked it. Big D, where do you buy your 2/0 input reducers?
2010chuckdee YES!! I agree with you 100% full bridge Brazilian amps are far superior to the underwhelming cheap Chinese board Skar RP Amps! I don't see why so many ppl seem to like the rp series skar amps. I had the RP2000.1D and hated that amp. Sent it back to skar for refund & replaced it with a Taramps Smart3 which has performed very well for me going on a year and a half now! Run full bridge Brazilian amps as they are designed to be ran & they do well. I also have a Sundown sfb5000 and a Taramps md8000.1 amp.
Awesome video on this one. Definitely interesting that it only goes into protect on the Uncertified runs, but will play hard when pushed on your subs and doesn't seem to have a problem with the Certified or Dynamic runs. It's almost got to be something with the way the dyno handles the test cycle that the amp doesn't like. This amp is most certainly a powerhouse from what you're showing here, and with the right electrical should make anyone happy. Keep up the great vids, I always enjoy coming back time after time to see what other gems you've found or what old school treasures you're showing us next. Thank you for all the content!
If you wouldn't power your house with an inverter plugged into your cigarette lighter then why would you purchase an amp knowing you don't have the power to support it? Not only does it throttle back the power but it's the #1 killer of amps, invest in your electrical system your ears and amps will thank you.

Back in the day. Around 95 96 Era. Had a Rockford 250 punch on 2 2200 watt amercan bass pro's. Bumped stupid hard. New the ratings were off because at nite when the bass hit the lights in the car dimmed to almost off. Also u send the the jingle all the way reference. Classic
Rockford 250 Punch delivers more power than rated. I'm not sure what you are saying. Did you mean the ratings on the subs? That has nothing to do with your voltage drop.
@@bp420a5 Okay. Typically when the bass hits, the amp draws a lot of current and your cars voltage dips. This causes the headlights to dim. For them to dim very low typically means your voltage dipped very low.
Wow just noticed notification came out a day late .... Anyway i dont see a problem... the amp seems to be decent quality...i love my 3k and the protect mode kicks in when the voltage is too low so your guess of the fluctuation of voltage might be the cause... I appreciate the fans...im from new england..... ...amps when used in extreme temperature environments causes water condensation just like a can of coke out of the fridge. so the constant fan operation in my opinion would help to fight that somewhat... thumbs up all the way love the amp love the vid
Hi, I love the dual fan constant on set up as well, I agree with u totally here. Also, good to keep all the condensation off if it, dust, dirt off of it and HEAT, these are big 3 amp killers ( there are more if course) but the fans certainly are a gr8 step in the right direction. I always add fans and ventilation to every system I build, and it always helps life, longevity, cleanliness ( I like to take my gear out once a year, open, inspect and clean it) and I have seen such a large difference inside that I ALWAYS add fans and ventilation. Anyway love the comments! Fire 🔥🔥🔥.... Or.. wait... We don't want that... Fight 🔥🔥🔥... Idk... 😆

BIG D WIZ... I've been through three sets of skar subs while running a rp1200 kit professionally installed and haven't touch there settings running factory electrical and stock head. At about 30 on my stereo volume my subs start popping. I thought it was factory defects so I been through a set of sdrs and a set of svrs so now I got the skar dual 12 evl loaded enclosure with the same rp1200 at 1ohm and at high volumes they pop as well. CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE PLEASE
Not sure what box you have but the skar boxs are tuned pretty high and also come with a bit of rise . Their is zero chance that 1200.1 can over power them evl subs . I run an rp 1500.1 on 3 svr8s and cant over power them . My guess is your electrical cant keep up and is causing the amp to clip .
Hey guys I have a question. It may sound dumb but I really want to know before I do anything stupid :') Can I put any bass knob on my amp(provided the connectors are the same)? Mine came with a shitty one that only has a power led and the knob is tiny and hard to turn, and the plastic is very cheap. It already broke one of the ears off so I have it mounted with zip ties right now. I'd love one like this with a volt meter and a protect and clip light. Thanks!
Usually not. If the knob is from the same vendor, maybe, and if it's rj11 style with no features like voltage or clip led it might work, but there's no real standard. You could always take your knob apart and panel mount it on your dash somewhere.
Still doesn't stack up to an Orion hcca that he dyno tested. That thing hit 13800 rms bad ass ran one to two dual one ohm vfl comp signature 12s that one amp omg I'll tell you we parallel wired both subs then parallel to the amp so in theory she saw .25 ohm. Exactly. He should do one. This thing at our market is titled ps917D. Pumps sounds at 2ohms makes me wonder how much juice it has from the inside because it sounds stronger than 1k rms at 2ohm
It isn't rated for 1 ohm operation. I would bet cash that it does 1kw into 2 tho, no probs. Being that it has 120A of fusing and is rated to draw 65A (says maximum 65A?), my guess is it draws 130A max, which is 1850w at 14.4v, making it between 55% & 65% at 2 ohm, sounds right on the money.
@@minus3dbintheteens60 yes. It normally protects at 1ohm. But oh boy thing pushes alot of power. Doesn't sound like a 1000wats rms at all. Sounds much more

Off topic question, but in your experience has there been a difference in amperage use to get the same (relative) wattage output from a full bridge amp vs a half bridge amp?
Yo Big D, one day could you test the new DB Drive WDX 5000w mono block, I got 2 agm’s feeding it and this amp is hits so hard it’s breathtaking. I’m sure it does it’s rated but I’m curious still. It’s powering 2 DS18 ZXI high excursion 12’s
Thank you for dropping the HDR nonsense in your newer videos. It's a shame UA-cam/Android doesn't implement it better but maaaaannnn ... really makes things unwatachable when it's on.
I used to prefer the metal bits until I found out the reason why they use plastic for certain parts. Plastic under a lot of vibration actually transfers less of the energy from the vibration. So it's less likely to ghost turn or back out. Not to mention it's cheaper to replace.

@@jeffsenecal4168 most of the full bridge amplifiers perform extremely well with a little lower voltage. I have a 2004 Acura TL with an Orion HCCA SPLX 3k watt amp with all 1/0 OFC cable, a 320A high output alternator, a big three upgrade, and a yellow top Optima battery and there's times that it'll stall my car at idle at half gain slamming four Sundown Audio SA12-D2s.

Also, I have a Soundstream Rubicon Nano RN1.5000D in my wife's car powering a bottom shelf Rockville 15 and I'd also like to see how it would do. Soundstream (or Maxxsonics I believe) claims 5000 watts, but there's NO way it's making anywhere near that, so I'd love to see those two cheaper amps on the dyno. BTW, I have Cerwin Vega Mobile two way 6.5s. I don't think they're anywhere near what the actual Cerwin Vega company would put on the market. I should've just bought all Skar.
High out put alternators don't put out much power at all at idle. The 300+ amp models are the worst. They run a smaller pulley to try and get more power at lower speeds, but you still need to rev it to maybe 2,500 rpm to get full output.
@@303nitzubishi4 I can see that on the distortion, but I'm hearing a lot of mechanical noise as well, which sounds like the cabinet is experiencing some vibration. The amp seems like it would do the job well, I guess it's got enough headroom available for most stuff. Heh.

@@itdoesntmatterwhatyourname6128 Rebadging is not as common as many people think. There are many build houses and they copy the basic design, but there are many small differences. Some higher or lower in quality and different small features.
Nice to see a video of you!!!! Great amp!!! How's the Ford coming along?
@@iSCOPEXZatec I have a DB aak 20,000.1 wired at about .21. It rises to about 1.2, and clamps around 20k. Protects sometimes, but rarely. Wired at 1 on speakers it’s like 7k amp because it rises to 4. Lol. So I completely get what you’re saying.

I like how the control knobs protrude so they can be adjusted without a tool, WELL DONE ENGINEERS!!
Im sure you’d be REAL accurate setting your amp with your fingers…
as opposed to what, a screw driver in your mouth? Using the outside of the knob, with your fingers, is going to give you much finer grain control of the setting than using the middle of the knob, with a tool, think about it.
So you just let your amp slid around dummy?
@@minus3dbintheteens60 I don’t need to think about it. I’ve installed and used enough amps and dsps to know that it’s a bad idea…as well as a board with those cheaper easily movable plastic potentiometers 🤢🤮 there’s a reason really nice equipment keeps em flush or below, metal, as well as requiring quite a bit more rotational force to set, keeping them immovable under excessive vibrations…you know..the environment of a vehicle.
And you think that a pot being flush is somehow more vibration resistant than the same pot that protrudes by a few mm? Righto
Gang, I'm half deaf on the right and completely deaf on the left. Been for years! Not from bass though, that came when I became an adult and it certainly isn't helping - nor is my career choice, mechanic in a shop that doesn't believe in ppe ;¬;
Nowdays u can get Lifepo4 cells. So like 4 cells of 280ah batteries are enough.
Your completely wrong ,only with playing the wrong frequencys will you go deaf, play stuff thats to high and it'll go quick. You can have 100k watts on subwoofers and aslong as your tweeters aren't set wrong, you will not go deaf
There are guys much louder and been doing this much longer than a lot of people, and they still have perfect hearing on a hearing test.....
The going deaf is a joke unless you can't properly set up a 4ch system for tweeters

Great content as always "Big D"!!! Can't wait to see their comment on whats causing the protect problem on the dyno. Thats an odd problem to not replicate itself on subwoofers. As they are the "dynamic" test run essentially.

Is dust a big issue with these amps with built in fans? I've never used one but I feel like it'll just build up dust faster than my dining room PC
Dude that bike "Haro Freestyle" was badass.
Just curious...what kind of power would this amp put out with a stock alt and big three upgrade? A couple thousand??? Love your channel btw!!👏👌👍🤘

Never had a voltage drop. Just saying it had that much of an underrated out put that I was pushing larger subs.
@@bp420a5 Okay. Typically when the bass hits, the amp draws a lot of current and your cars voltage dips. This causes the headlights to dim. For them to dim very low typically means your voltage dipped very low.

Wow just noticed notification came out a day late .... Idk... 😆

Erik Victoria yes, with ease. It would have a pair of 15" vxf bumping HARD!! Just make sure you have the proper electrical to power this amp. Takes alot to properly push a true 5k rms amp wired at 1 ohm.

BIG D WIZ... I've been through three sets of skar subs while running a rp1200 kit professionally installed and haven't touch there settings running factory electrical and stock head. At about 30 on my stereo volume my subs start popping.

The bass knob is dope!
I got to 2 audiopipe TXX BDC4 10s im thing about getting the 3k slayer and 2 more audiopipe
Hey guys I have a question. It may sound dumb but I really want to know before I do anything stupid :')
Can I put any bass knob on my amp(provided the connectors are the same)? Mine came with a shitty one that only has a power led and the knob is tiny and hard to turn, and the plastic is very cheap. It already broke one of the ears off so I have it mounted with zip ties right now. I'd love one like this with a volt meter and a protect and clip light. Thanks!
Usually not. If the knob is from the same vendor, maybe, and if it's rj11 style with no features like voltage or clip led it might work, but there's no real standard. You could always take your knob apart and panel mount it on your dash somewhere.
You can contact Bully Performance Audio
Insane to me how much wattage these amps are producing for the money.

Yeah but what you save on the amp, you'll be spending on alternators and batteries
Bitch got it good still slamming away in an f250 diesel two batts up front and two more out back 200+amp alt and the customer only peaks it for around a minute at the most before dropping below 12v.

I used to prefer the metal bits until I found out the reason why they use plastic for certain parts. Plastic under a lot of vibration actually transfers less of the energy from the vibration. So it's less likely to ghost turn or back out. Not to mention it's cheaper to replace.

High out put alternators don't put out much power at all at idle. The 300+ amp models are the worst. They run a smaller pulley to try and get more power at lower speeds, but you still need to rev it to maybe 2,500 rpm to get full output.

10:42 I don't know the track, but is the low end supposed to be that distorted and chuffy, or is it a function of the cabinet flexing?

@@303nitzubishi4 I can see that on the distortion, but I'm hearing a lot of mechanical noise as well, which sounds like the cabinet is experiencing some vibration. The amp seems like it would do the job well, I guess it's got enough headroom available for most stuff. Heh.
