I love that transition with Ludwig because for the first half of the fight, you're fighting a beast who's lost all reason, a monster of the Nightmare, a creature driven by bloodlust that will kill without mercy. Then once he falls and sees the green, cosmic glow of the Moonlight Sword beside him, he retains his humanity and fights you as a shadow of his former self. +Sam Adams Which makes me wonder. There is a connection from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls 1 and 2, tho people don't like to put the games in the same world. So maybe Bloodbourne is also in the same world as Dark Souls. Being much farther along tech wise, having guns and no shields, this could be way waaay WAY into the future.
Hello Bloodborne my old friend...I've come to play with you again Because a nightmare softly creeping, left DLC while I was hunting. And the eyes that were planted in my brain, still remain... Within the school of Mensis.
Weird, he never said that to me. (Spoilers) Ludwig asked if his hunters were "Spartans of the healing church" like he wanted, he never asked me if I saw that 'thread of light'.
I have a bit of a question about the Hunter's Nightmare. Is it that, once a Hunter becomes blood-drunk they get physically drawn into the Hunter's Nightmare where they are subjected to an eternity of hunting, or is it more like once a blood-drunk Hunter dies, the Hunter's Nightmare is where their soul goes like an afterlife? Like the Hunter's Nightmare is like Hunter Hell? Because depending on how it works then it also paints the Hunter of Hunters covenant in a new light. Example: if it's the former, where a wandering blood-drunk Hunter gets kidnapped into the Hunter's Nightmare, then the Hunter of Hunters are performing the ultimate mercy killing to save the poor corrupted Hunters from an eternity of torture. But if it's the latter where it's more of an afterlife, it's still essential to keep others safe from the blood-drunk Hunters, but it takes on a much more tragic light as they know that even though they put the poor bastards down that their suffering has only yet to begin. Knowing Fromsoft thought, it's probably the latter.
I believe it's the latter. I gather that once a hunter has gone blood-drunk, they no longer return to the dream after death, rather they end up in the nightmare. I don't think any hunter is aware of this, including the hunter of hunters, as I think there has never been a return from the nightmare/insanity.
It's actually both in a way the hunters physical form stays out yet when they die or beasthood Occurs it takes their mind into the nightmare we know as Laurence's skull is in the grand cathedral as a beast now hunters who are already die come there physical as there's nothing left of Ludwig in the waking world (fun fact Ludwig still Wares the garb of the healing church and had detractors as before fully transformed he still fought for the church)
+carter walters Gotta agree, that was a really GREAT way to end the video also, the choice of weapon when delivering the final blow also PERFECT cant wait to play this
Finally the expansion is out , so i can watch new videos from you! But I am not going to watch this one until i beat the expansion first , man , you already played it AND made a video about it! That is really impressive !
That's impressive, in 10h I barely got the time to dl it. Maybe he got a press copy cause that's really an impressive amount of work to put in right after finishing the DLC.
+MrQuelquDeux I started playing about 24 hours before the game was officially released, still had to pull an all-nighter to get this video out. I still haven't beaten Ludwig!
+VaatiVidya I just noticed that the mouth on the side of ludwig's head, which can clearly be seen at 13:32 is full of eyes, maybe he went completely mad/beast insane, because he had so much insight, because he literally has such eyes inside/on the side of his head.
Does anyone else notice how Ludwig looks like the creepy rape horse from Berserk? Ik there is a lot of references to Berserk in the Souls series but this one looks the most obvious
EzeTarget The moonlight sword is the moonlight child as well from berserk. IT WOKE HIM FROM HIS NIGHTMARE. Thats Just like the child when he woke gutts up from his berserk state after the demon alligator and whale fight.
To all the people complaining about this guy summoning someone, Ludwig on NG+ and higher is hard as fuck. 9 times out of 10, your NPC rarely ever makes it to the halfway point where Ludwig spams his Holy Moonlight Sword so you're basically wasting insight. I beat Ludwig on NG+ with a beast blood pellet and bolt paper with my +10 threaded cane and it was a nightmare. I'll probably co-op with someone from now on with Ludwig since i'm about to enter NG+2 and i'm one that is always fighting a boss solo lol.
this video is pretty fun to watch having beaten the DLC, and knowing what happens and when. No spoilers, but the last 2 boss fights are some of the best in the entire game in my opinion, the 2nd to last probably being on par with Gerhman
Hey, so I'm guessing you haven't gotten the helm from the League yet? I noticed an awesome little detail...if you have stomped 5 Vermin and return to where Valtr is in the Forbidden Wood, he'll be gone, and leave his helm behind for you. If you summon him after this has happened, he won't have his helmet on...he's kind of a blonde prettyboy under there. He also isn't "Valtr, Master of the League" anymore, but "Valtr, the Beast Eater" as referenced in the description of the Constable's Set (which he wears.)
I've yet to get my hands on the DLC yet, so I really wanna know whether or not Valtr really has only one eye, the item description of his helmet says it it has only one hole for one eye, and that it was perhaps what its original owner had, does he look like he lost his left eye or something? does it have a scar on it?
+Razor After i saw this video, i also think that Valtr, the Beast Eater is a younger version of Valtr, Master of the League. For me it looked like he deals more damage and has more HP. I didn´t heal him once, but he stand the fight till the near end.
Luiz Nanini Or, he probably felt shame for falling into the temptation of eating beasts, so he decided to leave the helmet for you as the new master of the league
+xaero xiii Put on that new beast rune along with the other beast runes, pop a couple beast pellets, get a full beasthood meter...and voila! Hihio Zabimaru! >;8]'
I got off a call beyond underneath Ludwig it blew all the damagable limbs off and got him to half health. One in a million hit actually getting the majority of the hits to nail him just glorious.
I am currently on the last area of the DLC, the fishing hamlet, and because im a sap whos so attached to his character, I'm doing it on NG+5...Brutal. That said, this DLC is a 10//10 for me. The best bossfights in the game, the best atmosphere, the coolest weapons, absolutely in love. Fromsoft did it again. Great video vaati.
Love how Ludwig moves change. First phase he attacks like a beast thrashing around, but in the second he stands up right and wields the sword like a man
"If your NG+ character is below level 60." That sounds so funny to me since almost all my characters are near level 70 when I am just getting to the Nightmare of Mensis, on normal NG, before even heading to the DLC. :D 65-70 anyhow.
The DLC has been great so far. I just beat Ludwig. Damn what a way for them to introduce him. I also love the dynamic of fighting hunters. It feels so gritty and brutal. Can't wait to play more.
You know Vaati, I've been watching a lot of people vs Ludwig lately, and I've noticed something. The music is perfectly done, and it fit's the fight to an absolute T... Call me crazy, but I think Miyazaki implemented some sort of system wherein Ludwig will either attack faster, or hold his attack for a few seconds, to be in tune with the peaks in the music. Especially when the choir hits the high notes, that seems to be when Ludwig does his big swings, plunges his sword into the ground, or fires off his Moonlight blasts. I've seen it a little too often for it to feel like just a coincidence. Your thoughts?
I just realized something. Ludwig has the "moonlight" greatsword. Ludwig V. Beethoven wrote "moonlight" sonata. Ludwig's boss fight moves with the music. Beethoven is actually the boss in this game.
Are you still curious two years later? Because you're not the only one to have noticed that. He definitely moves with the beat. For that reason, he's one of the best-designed boss fights ever.
Wait, does the Ludwig fight insinuate that the Moonlight Greatsword in the BB universe can corrupt minds like the "knowledge" you obtain from the Great Ones ? That would make the weapon so much more interesting to make it now seemingly "evil".
+Chips Light Uh...not really. If you're wondering whether the sword is what made Ludwig turn into a beast, then no. He became a beast for the same reason everyone else does, too much exposure to the addictive blood. In fact, you could say that the MLGS does the exact opposite, because as soon as Ludwig saw it he started to regain his sanity and was able to actually speak instead of just doing creepy horse noises and crap. I mean it is the Moonlight "Holy" Blade afterall, so I doubt a holy blade is evil y'know?
xXDarkxIdealsXx Well, by itself, it was never stated that the Eldritch being were evil, just too powerful to understand, which drove the people of church mad and turns them into beasts due to the blood. I also like the idea that there's actually eldritch stuff (cause the blade is probably of eldritch origin due to having a "moonlight blade") that actually soothe the mind of people, that would insinuate that the world could have taken a better turn with item more similiar than the MGS.
+Chips Light The sword's description kind of hints at it, too: "An arcane sword discovered long ago by Ludwig. When blue moonlight dances around the sword, and it channels the abyssal cosmos, its great blade will hurl a shadowy lightwave. The Holy Moonlight Sword is synonymous with Ludwig, the Holy Blade, but few have ever set eyes on the great blade, and whatever guidance it has to offer, it seems to be of a very private, elusive sort."
+Chips Light An Eldritch power that soothes the mind... that sounds like something that could be used to manipulate you. It'd make sense I guess. The Moon Presence seems to put your character in a trance when it comes out of the moon, with your Hunter needing to have eaten all three parts of the Umbilical Chord to snap out of it. Maybe the Moonlight Greatsword functions in a similar way, it's alluring and soothing to the mind, but it's not exactly that positive. (Ludwig is still trying to cut the crap out of you even after regaining his sanity)
+MrSuperUrahara That was the first thing that came to mind when I got the Boomhammer as well, but I'm too lazy to start a fresh character for that reason. xD
You're incredible! Not only you understand the story lore etc. You're great at the game and you are so intresting to listen to with the soothing clear voice! Never stop doing videos mate!
+Asher Cruz (Nero) That was my thought. I use Maria's set now, which obscures your left arm perfectly from behind. With how you carry the sword, it really makes my character feel like Artorias. And I love it.
Put all the pieces of the lore together with this game and you come to the understanding that Laurence was the one who started the outrage of the beasts
Bloodborne is the first souls game I’ve played, and I did have trouble here and there in the bossfights but made sure I solo’d every boss. I finally met my match against Ludwig. Took me 8 hours to finally beat him lol When I got that second visceral I was screaming in euphoria 😂
My god, I'm at new game+ 7. The boss that took me longest to beat in the entire From Software series was ornstien and smough. Then this dlc arrived.. oh dear god. From my experience so far , there is 5 bosses in the dlc and 3 of them aboslutly wrecked me for a while. They made Ornstien and Smough look like tutorial. I don't know if it was because I was at new game+ 7 or I had lost some skills sins it was a while ago I played bloodborne but oh man what a feeling it was when they were finaly beaten. Conclusion: Great dlc, alot of new weapons and amors. Challening bosses and cool new areas. Also, this dlc has answers to our questions about the lore, so prepare for Vaati Videos!
So I've been paying Bloodborne for quite some time, first time I beat it was over 5 years ago. I now have come back to it to FINALLY do the DLC and of course I knew to come here for the story and overall layout of what the DLC is. So far I have made it to the Orphan and when I got there... I finally had a realization that I was doing NG+2 on my first time. But now I am determined to complete the DLC in NG+2 Solo! Thankyou for amazing Videos as always!
+TheUnrealGuy You can get the console and a game for like $300 brand new so stop complaining. Not like It doesn't have a bunch of other enjoyable exclusives and other ones coming like Uncharted 4, Horizon, Wild etc. Plus I think From has a contract to make at least another exclusive with Sony.
+TheDisasterr Some say that they have two more Fromsoft exclusives one of them is said to be a VR title.....so everybody is speculating that it's going to be a new King's Field title
TheDisasterr Meh rather wait for the improved version of PS4 or maybe wait even longer for PS5, and then play the games with better performance, i can wait :) (PC master race!).
+Colin Childress It's in EVERY fromsoft game since the first King's Field. Sometimes the name is a bit different, but it's always "moonlight" and "Sword" somewhere in the title.
So I've thought about this for a long time and I want to share my opinion. It really starts with a question. How does Ludwig have the moonlight greatword? It's indeed the same sword but aged, given it's primary form. Idk how he obtains it, but the fact that he does have it connects the universe of dark souls to bloodborne. Here's my theory. He finds it in the chalice dungeons. The timeline of bloodborne happens after the events of dark souls. We can clearly see characters in dark souls like slave knight Gael act like the beasts in bloodborne. Magic dissappears for the most part and guns start to appear. But in chalice dungeons again there is magic used by the guys wearing some armor that is similar to the abyss guys and using pyromancy. There's lamps instead of a bonfire. Seath oddly looks similar to Kin in bloodborne too as with that crazy king that starts to turn into something reminsent of seath in dark souls 3 and is crazy searching out knowledge as with everyone in bloodborne. Bloodborne could even possibly be a painting by that girl in dark souls. BUT one thing is certain, they are 100% connected bc of the sword.
I had no idea that it was pretty much the exact same sword. Considering we do find armour of knights in the Chalice dungeons, I now wonder if the great ones are what arose after the fires died out. Oh, this is very interesting!
Cerbanstudios He recognizes you as a hunter of the church and asks if church hunters are honorable and upstanding. You can either tell him lies and he'll give you Moonlight sword and remain laying there happy or you can tell him the truth and he'll be upset just as if you talked to him without church outfit, Simon will mercy kill him later share more secrets with you and give you the sword.
Vaati is the best type of Soulsborne player. He admitted that he wasn't the best player and that he struggled with the boss, so he summoned help. That is truly admirable
As an Xbox player, I am now debating whether to build myself a gaming PC for around 800$ or buy a PS4 solely for this game... I guess I'll wait on FromSofts next releases to decide :( I cri evri tim
My experience with the dlc was so hard and difficult but after a few times I got to enjoy it I especially liked the weapons you get in the dlc areas so awesome
Does anyone have any insight as to why Ludwig might have turned into this horse-like monster while most everyone else transformed into wolf-like beasts?
+Morec0 My guess is that members of the church transform in less agrassive looking beasts. Amelia turned into a deer-looking beast, also the cleric beast had a deer-like apparence.
Of all the information you provide, and even your accent (2 me), absolutely makes your videos so fantastic. There's so much about the lore I didn't know and thanks to you, the game isn't as mysterious as it used to be, but now is more fun! Keep up the great work, man, #oneofmyfavoriteyoutubers

I like that Ludwig's human side awakens during the fight, as if his soul is being cleansed and redeemed by death.
Well Hunters like Gascoigne, Henryk, and the Cainhurst Crow don’t show up at all so it’s probably the former.
Nice ending there. good content also
Exactly GREAT ending
+carter walters Gotta agree, that was a really GREAT way to end the video
also, the choice of weapon when delivering the final blow also PERFECT
cant wait to play this
Finally the expansion is out , so i can watch new videos from you!
VaatiVidya Oh then ,thanks very much for your work , are the new bosses any hard ?
+VaatiVidya How many nostalgia bombs just hit you when you say that moonlit sword?
+VaatiVidya I just noticed that the mouth on the side of ludwig's head, which can clearly be seen at 13:32 is full of eyes, maybe he went completely mad/beast insane, because he had so much insight, because he literally has such eyes inside/on the side of his head.
Does anyone else notice how Ludwig looks like the creepy rape horse from Berserk? Ik there is a lot of references to Berserk in the Souls series but this one looks the most obvious
+Minus T.H. oh man, not this fucking horse...
wheel skelotons, Artorias/Guts, certain armore looks. Yeah there is alot, and I love it. Berserk is one of the best mangas ever.
+Minus T.H. more than just that from the fight, there is two major references.
let the festival begin...
Ludwig is extremely hard also in NG. In NG npcs don't EVER make it to the midpoint of the battle.
i beat ludwig after facing him for the first time on ng+4 he was pretty tough but it actually didnt take me too many tries
Slow Mobius r/imverybadass
Hint: Summon valtr, makes the fight wayyyyy more doable in ng+
Paul N. I had no idea how effective beast blood pellets were. They made the fight
so much easier (but not by much lol)
this video is pretty fun to watch having beaten the DLC, and knowing what happens and when. No spoilers, but the last 2 boss fights are some of the best in the entire game in my opinion, the 2nd to last probably being on par with Gerhman
M would obliterate German though.
+Mr.Satan Not as long as he is "first hunter"
+Ale DG If you could put the two against one another I do believe M would win. But that's just because I like her better all around.
+Mr.Satan So what your saying is that she would win based on your personal preference? Ok then lol.
Love all but 1 of the DLC bosses (sees OoK in the distance crying)
DLC is 10/10
+Campbell Louden DLC is 100/10 it breaks the fucking meter!!!
+Azure Flame King its over 9000!

2 years later and i stand by this
Hey, so I'm guessing you haven't gotten the helm from the League yet?
So he eats beasts? Gross
Maybe he wears the helm to stop himself from eating beasts
Luiz Nanini Or, he probably felt shame for falling into the temptation of eating beasts, so he decided to leave the helmet for you as the new master of the league
The beast cutter...
sabimaru.
BLEACH CROSSOVER CONFIRMED
Yeah, it was the first thing that came in mind, also, it's actually *Zabimaru
+6 Bit Games oh god never realised this
+6 Bit Games Now ROAR! Sabimaru!
+6 Bit Games Now we just need to wait for bankai phase.
I just now playing this game and wow it's awesome. Ludwig is such a tragic character. 😞
Can I add you on PlayStation so we can co-op the DLC

THE WOMANS VOICE IS THE EMERALD HERALD GODDAMNIT
I am currently on the last area of the DLC, the fishing hamlet, and because im a sap whos so attached to his character, I'm doing it on NG+5...Brutal. That said, this DLC is a 10//10 for me. The best bossfights in the game, the best atmosphere, the coolest weapons, absolutely in love. Fromsoft did it again. Great video vaati.
Ludwig sounds like a Jockey from LFD 2 before you deliver the final blow. Surely I can't be the only one who heard it.
You are not alone there sir
Im now imagining a Ludwig mod for L4D2. It terrifies me.
+OhMan ThatGuy Both are trying to emulate a horse sound, I think - which makes sense given the name "Jockey" and what Ludwing looks like.
+OhMan ThatGuy He sounded like a horse being raped by a bone ashed cannon to me.....seriously, dafuq were those noises? lmao.
They're horse noises he does kinda look like one with the long face and all
Your videos are brilliant, cant wait for you to do a lore run through of this new dlc, keep up the awesome work
Love how Ludwig moves change. First phase he attacks like a beast thrashing around, but in the second he stands up right and wields the sword like a man
Fantastic video. Really enjoyed it :)
Thanks bro
Ludwig has the greatest soundtrack in the entire game. Of course the other tracks are great too.
Fuck man, I want to get this DLC so bad, but Fallout 4 has my life by the balls right now.
+JimJamBanx I got bored of it after like 70 hours, but played fallout 3 and new vegas for hundreds more *shrug*
ayyy fellow hikki fan
+JimJamBanx Phhhh Fallout is nothing compared to Bloodborne.
Gold Tager which is why fallout sold 12 million in a few days and bloodborne sold 2 in months?
Gold Tager
Not really. Both are good.
"If your NG+ character is below level 60." That sounds so funny to me since almost all my characters are near level 70 when I am just getting to the Nightmare of Mensis, on normal NG, before even heading to the DLC. :D 65-70 anyhow.
yeah how do you finish the game without being over level 70 is beyond me. I was level 100 when I finished.
@@amemename im lvl 230 before celestial emissary and nightmare of mensis,

i love that calming tone in your voice because it fits the ambiance of these games with more of story than meets the eye.
VaatiVidya: "For the Night of the Hunt is -"
Me: "Dark, and full of Terrors!"
I just want to point out that u dont get the old hunter bell just because of the dlc, it was added in a patch seperate to the dlc
The DLC has been great so far. I just beat Ludwig. Damn what a way for them to introduce him. I also love the dynamic of fighting hunters. It feels so gritty and brutal. Can't wait to play more.
10:16 I'm pretty sure everyone said yes because they paid for the dlc.
Ludwig is
Beethoven's first name.
@@alec6583 Lots of bosses, almost all of them, will do that. It's pretty subtle, but an amazing work of game design.
Same goes for bosses in dark souls
Wait, does the Ludwig fight insinuate that the Moonlight Greatsword in the BB universe can corrupt minds like the "knowledge" you obtain from the Great Ones ?
That would make the weapon so much more interesting to make it now seemingly "evil".
+Chips Light What means now? Its a completly different weapon then the MLG in Dark Souls. (In a lore perspective atleast)
I mean it is the Moonlight "Holy" Blade afterall, so I doubt a holy blade is evil y'know?
xXDarkxIdealsXx
Well, by itself, it was never stated that the Eldritch being were evil, just too powerful to understand, which drove the people of church mad and turns them into beasts due to the blood. I also like the idea that there's actually eldritch stuff (cause the blade is probably of eldritch origin due to having a "moonlight blade") that actually soothe the mind of people, that would insinuate that the world could have taken a better turn with item more similiar than the MGS.
+Chips Light The sword's description kind of hints at it, too:
"An arcane sword discovered long ago by Ludwig.
When blue moonlight dances around the sword, and it channels the abyssal cosmos, its great blade will hurl a shadowy lightwave.
The Holy Moonlight Sword is synonymous with Ludwig, the Holy Blade,
but few have ever set eyes on the great blade, and whatever guidance it
has to offer, it seems to be of a very private, elusive sort."
Ludwig was a NIGHTMARE to deal with.
I hear Boomhammer, I think Nora.
+MrSuperUrahara I imagine people may start doing Nora builds.
+MrSuperUrahara That was the first thing that came to mind when I got the Boomhammer as well, but I'm too lazy to start a fresh character for that reason. xD
Boop! :D
I like how the serrated buff against Ludwig disappears in his second phase, because in the phase you're not fighting a beast anymore
You're incredible! Not only you understand the story lore etc. You're great at the game and you are so intresting to listen to with the soothing clear voice! Never stop doing videos mate!
I don't know if it's just me but I've noticed that its non magical form resembles artorias' sword
I love the unbuffed form. So cool looking.
+Asher Cruz (Nero) Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I love the look this time, I always like slimmer greatswords.
+Asher Cruz (Nero) That was my thought. I use Maria's set now, which obscures your left arm perfectly from behind. With how you carry the sword, it really makes my character feel like Artorias. And I love it.

The L2 on the moonlight blade is my favorite, knocks back almost everything.
Love how Ludwig looks. From continues to have the best monster design.
Ugh that ending was SUCH A TEASE! C'mon I actually wanted to the full moveset and stuff not just 3 swings... Besides that great video, as usual.
I just started playing Bloodborne about a month ago and your videos have been invaluable to me. Probably my favorite lore features on UA-cam. :)
Sitting here, crying, because Bloodborne and its DLC aren't coming to PC.
+Stu McFarlane Same here, no way i will spend 400$ for a PS4 just to play bloodbourne..
Your tears taste so damn good....
+TheDisasterr Some say that they have two more Fromsoft exclusives
one of them is said to be a VR title.....so everybody is speculating that it's going to be a new King's Field title
TheDisasterr Meh rather wait for the improved version of PS4 or maybe wait even longer for PS5, and then play the games with better performance, i can wait :) (PC master race!).
The moonlight greatstword is the most reoccuring weapon in the Souls series.
Not only the Soul series the Moonlight Greatsword also appears in Kings Field and Armored Core
Thomas Scally I know. Was it in Demon's Souls? I don't think I remember it there.
+Colin Childress In demon souls it was "the large sword of moonlight" found in 5-2
+Colin Childress It's in EVERY fromsoft game since the first King's Field. Sometimes the name is a bit different, but it's always "moonlight" and "Sword" somewhere in the title.
Easter egg.
Did anyone else feel like the guy at 8:05 was mocking/imitating gilbert? Its at his window and the guy fighting is a beast
Some years later, nice job getting the Holy Blade death cry at the end, as opposed to the Accursed death cry👌🏻
Beautiful as always, I recently picked up old hunter and really enjoyed this run
Dude, that sword is in almost every Fromsoft game, e.g. King's Field or Ninja Gaiden. Doesn't mean they're all connected man, it's just a gimmick.
yeah, i mean, everyone has a limited amount of blood vessels vaati
Wolverine doesn't.
I heard that wearing any chest piece of the holy church will make Ludwig say something different. Anyone willing to try this out?
yup tried it.
Everybody gangta till the horse man starts talking to a glowstick
Love the ending with that sword. Like the cliffhanger once the villain obtains the all powerful threat to humanity 😎 👌
As an Xbox player, I am now debating whether to build myself a gaming PC for around 800$ or buy a PS4 solely for this game... I guess I'll wait on FromSofts next releases to decide :( I cri evri tim
