I imagine it's quite useful for making placeholders, no idea how bad the geometry is on generated models
Amazing time saver for solo devs especially! I would bring the model over to Blender for some fine-tuning before moving it to Unreal, and then it would be just perfect!
In a close future video games will be AI generated in Real Time... just prompt the game you want to play and AI will generate the game using UEx, making adjustment while you are playing... adding content... We are standing at the dawn of something beyond our full comprehension...
not entirely sure why this would be an animator's nightmare considering it only works for animations that A) you have a good reference for and B) utilizes a skeleton supported by the program or very similar (and retargetting animations isn't good enough for most AA or AAA studios in terms of results). but it's cool to play around for indies.

Any idea on how soon this will work with Unreal 5 like it says in the title of this video. Also, can’t wait to see an example of a short, dramatic motion capture instead of only people dancing. Sometimes subtle body movement is way more difficult to capture than people dancing.
It does already, you just need to retarget the animations from the UE4 default exported skeleton. Works well! For the UE5 skeleton, that was my first request to the devs, they said they are working on it. =]

How would you implement this, i.e. create "water tables" at different heights inside of the landscape, and where they intersect with air, spawn the fluid flux node to create a "spring"?
Unfortunately, there's only 50 coins for the free plan. A couple of bad animations and they'll run out. Do you know of any free mocaps with no limits?

I haven't tried but nearly 100% yes for sure. It should be as simple as running the animation retargetter in UE5

why is it using the UE4 mannequin?
that's the default for now I actually asked the devs to add UE5 support, they said they would and are working on it.

You should not learn animation to make a character dance. It's been over a decade character movements are done via motion capturing hardware setups. You should only know to properly rig a character. Also there are lots of other applications of animations like simulations, collisions, destructions, creature and mech animations. Learn animation for those purposes where AI can't figure out what the user actually wants.
@@phralma1000BC only the case for games that mimic real life. There are many games that have stylized animations, so animation is still a useful skill for gamedev. For a dance, maybe it's fine, but no one buys a game for a dance emote....unless it's a dancing game xD
oh sweet summer child, if only you know the horror of animation and that AI can only do basic non complex human movements. you still have to do all kinds of animations for mechanical devices, animals, monsters, stylized human movements, humans with non conventional shapes with multiple arms or legs.

@@RikkTheGaijin Bro I'm waaaaiiting for Unreal to implement their own AI mocap solution. They did such a phenomenal job with face animation - I KNOW they could pull of body mocap to some degree.

I actually gave this a try myself. I took a screenshot of an old model I made a few years ago that's pretty simple, nothing too complex, and the AI did technically remake it, but upon further examination it was obvious it used too many polygons, the topology was a mess, and it seemed like if you wanted to make any kind of adjustments it would be faster to just remake that model from scratch. The AI's model looked like a sculpted model that got poorly auto-converted into polys. I will say, it's impressive that we've gotten this far, but what I REALLY want to see is AI helping with topology issues, fixing up UVs, and the big grand daddy of difficulties, rigging!! I think that AI has it's place as a tool, NOT a replacement of our creativity. I'm shocked we still have so few tools specifically designed to help artists that don't try to throw them out of the way.
We are entering an era where 1 man can make a "aaa" game. the hello world game will now will be a rpg fps open world game with unique characters, large procedurally generated map and spoken dialog. unheard of just 1-2 years ago. Just need the jank to get ironed out.
