Winning the CL with Vaduz on Football Manager is the final boss of challenges, you have to win the Conference League to get in the Europa League, then win that the next season when you are in it, then win the Champions League in that next year too. So all three European competitions in a row, if you fail to win the EL or CL at the first attempt, you go back to the beginning

I don't get why Alfie believes AS Monaco couldn't play European matches. It's not like Swansea was barred from the Europa League after winning the League Cup a decade ago. FC Vaduz is special as the Swiss consider them a 'guest club' and won't allow them in the Swiss cup. That's not the case for AS Monaco, Victor San Marino, or the Welsh clubs in the English league system.
It's because FC Vaduz are members of the Liechtenstein FA, not the Swiss FA. Swansea are members of the English FA, not the Welsh FA, therefore on paper they're seen as an English club. Same for Monaco being classed as French and Victor San Marino as Italian.
@@elliotboro98 but there’s nothing there that would require AS Monaco to become part of the Monaco Football Federation if it were to be formed. They could and definitely would remain in the FFF
@@TylerAven10 I doubt UEFA would allow the Monegasque FA to become official if there wasn't a club representative competing under it then. To me there's no point anyway. It's an asterisk of many asterisks that would have to be addressed. It makes sense with FC Vaduz and other Liechtensteiner clubs but not with a one club state like Monaco.
Plus I'm pretty sure the Government of Monaco could send enough brown envelopes towards UEFA for them to consider AS Monaco to be a member of the French League System.
As other people have said, AS Monaco would likely qualify for Europe as French. They are high enough to do so via France, and there wouldn't be a Monaco domestic competition which to take part in. They'd be like Cardiff/Swansea. Vaduz actually wants to qualify through Liechtenstein as they are so low down in Switzerland and wouldn't otherwise.
I have a few more players who could play for Monaco. Jonathan Correia (Beausoleil, fullback, defensive mid) Jemerson (Grêmio, centre back) Gautier Lloris (Le Havre, centre back) Filipe Ferreira Marques (Amora, centre mid) Sorry it doesn’t help the attack much.
Would it definitely not be possible for AS Monaco to continue to play in the French League and still qualify for Europe? I know you have Vaduz as an example but Swansea played in Europe as a Welsh team in England as they are associated with the English FA and league. I don’t think there would be an obligation on AS Monacos part to relinquish their affiliation with the French FA and fall under the jurisdiction of the Monegasque FA. I might be missing something obvious though.
Did you notice, in Monaco's results, a 0-10 defeat to Ellan Vannin? Did you think "who are Ellan Vannin?"? I'll explain. Ellan Vannin is the name given to the team put out by the Manx International Football Association. MIFA is a ConIFA member, but not affiliated with the Isle of Man FA. The IOMFA acts as a County FA under the FA. MIFA and the IOMFA have an agreement under which any players playing on the Isle of Man are eligible to represent Ellan Vannin, therefore making the Ellan Vannin team a _de facto_ Isle of Man Football League representative side, although not the official IOMFL representative side that competes in the FA Inter-League Cup and has represented England in the UEFA Regions' Cup twice (2007 and 2015).
On the flip side, Monaco have entered the Olympics since 1920 yet never won a single medal. Apparently they did once win a bronze for architecture but the IOC no longer counts the artistic events.
Nice video! But don't forget that Monaco were able to boost the quality of the squad via the money they gained because of their tax climate. And while the nightmare scenario for the Monaco national team would be an empty stadium, AS Monaco barely ever play for a sold-out stadium. In fact, I think they should be lucky if they sell 50% of the tickets for their home matches...
Monaco has the 3rd biggest away fanbase in france, the problem is monaco isnt really well place and not easily accessable for the football fan who reside in other part of france,
But why would AS Monaco have to join a new theorical Monegasque FA? I mean Derry City are in NI but are part of the FAI and surely if Cardiff or Swansea won the Premier League they wouldn't be Welsh representatives.
Would love a video on why cardiff and swansea etc. arent classed as guests in the english leagues and dont have to qualify by welsh cups due to wales having an FA
As a counterpoint to Monaco's difficulty qualifying for the champions league: The concacaf champions league now allows Canadian teams to qualify through the MLS as well as the Canadian cup. Of course, Concacaf and EUFA are different organizations, but I think they could figure it out. Especially given that the financial incentives seem to align, and that's really all that matters right?
A Monaco national team could actually result in the development of more Monégasque footballers, but the French FA likely wouldn’t let them do it even if they wanted to. Also they could still support AS Monaco as a club team on the side if UEFA theoretically granted them an exception from having to need a league.
Monaco does now have a university Another slight correction AS Monaco would give a Monaco a much higher coefficient than Lichtenstein in fact there coefficient would be closer to Wales
Great video as always, but I must protest, Sir Alfie. A Belgian club not only made a final in the 80's, but also won it. Uefa Cup Winners Cup in 1988 was won by KV Mechelen.
A semi-example of Forchério in San Marino: Massimo Bonini was a Sanmarinese defensive midfielder who was a regular for Juve in the 80's (winning EC I), but did not play for Italy despite the fact there was no San Marino national team until the 90's. In the autumn of his career he played a few games in the beginning years of the San Marino national team.
If Youri Djorkaeff had got a contract extension and not ended up at Inter Milan via a pre-sportswashing PSG, son Oan Djorkaeff would have been eligible, and he played twice for St. Mirren.
That bit about AS Monaco not being able to qualify as a French representative in UEFA competitions is not necessarily true, right? Swansea City has played in the Europa League in 2013-14 after winning the League Cup, with an English flag next to their name.
FC Vaduz COULD make it into the Champions League... at least, in theory. It would require them to win the Conference League and Europa League in consecutive seasons to gain entry into the higher competition... unlikely, but it IS possible.
For those asking about Swansea city AFC and Cardiff city.. Swansea city won League cup in 2013 and played in Europa League afterwards representing England.😮 Not wales within uk.😅
If someone from Monaco became the next Ronaldo the Spanish government would just give them citizenship so they can play for Spain like they did for Diego Costa and Aymeric Laporte
Vaduz could technically play champions league football, but they’d need to win the europa conference league AND europa league in back to back seasons in order to qualify
Football is often used as a means to escape poverty... Jokes aside, i think it gets complicated in a country that effectively allows you to become a citizen by payment and/or sheer will of its governor. Potentially the Prince of Monaco could put together an entirely foreign squad before the round of next call ups by just handing out passports to every talented 18yo or uncapped "slow burner" in the world immediately establishing themselves way above their weightclass. Additionally i just looked up if (AS) Monaco was even able to build a stadium IN Monaco, but i can confirm its indeed on Monegasque Land lol

The fact about AS Monaco losing right to European quailification via French Ligue 1 if Monaco became UEFA member isn't true. Wales is UEFA member and that doesn't prevent Cardiff City to qualify via England league to European cups
I live in Kansas City and I have to admit, I did not see that Roos reference coming. They are a university team, not professional, and tend to rebrand every few years. Growing up, I would have known them as the Kangaroos from UMKC (University of Missouri - Kansas City).
I think it's quite a lost opportunity, Monaco's NT could be a haven for French players who aren't good enough for France but are too good for, say, Guyana, could make a great XI to fight for qualification even
Imagine the pope's XI football team lol. Could have a holy grail(cup) all the clubs associatied with religious ideologies instead of going to war just play football
Why do Kazakhstan play in UEFA when they've got way more of a chance of qualifying for the world cup through Asia and being regulars at the Asian Cup? That would make for an interesting video
There should be a Vatican City national team. Pope Francis as striker, cardinals on the wing, and the Swiss guards’ uniforms already look like a keeper’s kit
- Victor Langellotti is a pretty good Monegasque cyclist (he recently signed for Ineos), whose career got derailed for a bit when he got addicted to FIFA. So he has stamina and he knows football, might be enough to make the national team? - I think an even better example than Forchério would be Massimo Bonini, who played in Juventus midfield next to Platini, but on a national level played for San Marino. - Would Swansea and Cardiff have the same problem as FC Vaduz if they started doing well in the Premier League?
If AS monaco had won the UEFA champions league final in 2004, would UEFA have needed to host the ensuing Super Cup match somewhere other than Stade Louis II to avoid giving home advantage to AS monaco?

Jonathan Correia (Beausoleil, fullback, defensive mid)
Jemerson (Grêmio, centre back)
Gautier Lloris (Le Havre, centre back)
Filipe Ferreira Marques (Amora, centre mid)
Sorry it doesn’t help the attack much.
Why Gautier Lloris cant find anything him being monegasque?
@@broskifrfr I believe his father was born there. I could be wrong though.
Great video, but it's a pity that the Monaco football league was not mentioned. :(
The tax dodgers aren't gonna put up much of a fight. They might have a good womens team with all the yacht baddies, though
You think those women who are afraid to get a drop of sweat on their forehead will play football against a bunch of lesbians with angry issues.
The 3 Leclerc brothers would probably be good enough to play in such a team lol
Alfie is stealing this for his next video 100%
the absolute thrashing by Sapmi twice is also interesting lmao.
On the flip side, Monaco have entered the Olympics since 1920 yet never won a single medal. Apparently they did once win a bronze for architecture but the IOC no longer counts the artistic events.
too bad F1 is not a sport for them
Majority of Monaco fans are from France very few are from Monaco itself mostly from the villages and small towns between nice and Monaco
"In Stead" is an underrated transition, I see you and I appreciate the craft.
Crazy how you turned a question like this into an interesting video!
Love the watmore addition at 7:35
5:08 Yugoslavia is back together🙏
Would love a video on why cardiff and swansea etc. arent classed as guests in the english leagues and dont have to qualify by welsh cups due to wales having an FA
Very interesting video. Thanks. 👍🏽
RU Tv??? I love it!!! Again you’ve grabbed my attention………😮
HUGS AND KISSES from Las Vegas ❤❤❤❤😊
A Monaco national team could actually result in the development of more Monégasque footballers, but the French FA likely wouldn’t let them do it even if they wanted to.
Also they could still support AS Monaco as a club team on the side if UEFA theoretically granted them an exception from having to need a league.
I've been to Monaco-- if the highway that runs across the top of Monaco counts as Monaco. Fascinating topic Alfie
I've actually been researching this topic for some time
Monaco does now have a university
Another slight correction AS Monaco would give a Monaco a much higher coefficient than Lichtenstein in fact there coefficient would be closer to Wales
Mirren.
Bruh sportwashing has existed since basically become a pro sport, Thats exactly it
That bit about AS Monaco not being able to qualify as a French representative in UEFA competitions is not necessarily true, right? Swansea City has played in the Europa League in 2013-14 after winning the League Cup, with an English flag next to their name.
So, why don't San Marino give up their national team become a (theoretically) successful Italian domestic club?
They actually do have a club in Italy, last year they barely missed back-to-back promotions to Serie C, they are now in Serie D
As a fan of unique stadiums in general, I would like to watch a match at Stade Louie.
I've heard the Pope wins headers at CB
FC Vaduz COULD make it into the Champions League... at least, in theory. It would require them to win the Conference League and Europa League in consecutive seasons to gain entry into the higher competition... unlikely, but it IS possible.
Good video king Alfie
1:17 Second time the Philippines has been mentioned by Alfie in HITC, awesome
Possible you can make a video of Galatasaray, i adore the things you say .
Blessing from 🇲🇽 🇺🇸
For those asking about Swansea city AFC and Cardiff city..
Swansea city won League cup in 2013 and played in Europa League afterwards representing England.😮
Not wales within uk.😅
At least you know who the team bus driver is, as long as he's given the right tyre strategy!
Monaco DOES have a National Team but it's affiliated to CONIFA.
If someone from Monaco became the next Ronaldo the Spanish government would just give them citizenship so they can play for Spain like they did for Diego Costa and Aymeric Laporte
honestly they have to remove this rule, its the door open to many abuses like for countries QATAR and so
Vaduz could technically play champions league football, but they’d need to win the europa conference league AND europa league in back to back seasons in order to qualify
I wonder if they could build the coefficient up enough so Liechtenstein gets qualifying or automatic entry to the Champions League
Gonna start a new career mode on FIFA as a Monegasque just because of this video
I expect FIFA or UEFA might get involved if there were spurious awards of nationality just to pad the national team out.
@@exsandgrounder FIFA hasn't stopped Qatar for poaching talent from Africa and elsewhere, though

#thepeopleschannel a video on the Bangladesh premier league and the rise of Bashundhara kings would be good
A team who went into the top flight after promotion and won the last Six league titles now!
Are they the next Newcastle? Are they a team to keep a eye on next few years? Thanks Alfie 😊
18:53 Maybe but they could find themselves similar to Swansea or Cardiff, who compete in England and represented England in UEFA competitions even though Welsh league exists separately and Welsh teams qualify through it separately.
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 673)
Alternativly you could do "Best German players who played outside the Bundesliga" or something like that if you prefer.
I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
There's no way u posted for 2 straight years
If it’s a 7, I would nominate these guys.
7. Lukas Podoslki
6. Michael Ballack
5. Robert Huth
4. Mesut Özil
3. Ilkay Gundogan
2. Jens Lehmann
1. Jurgen Klinsmann
but... why?
If you put this kind of dedication into something that actually matters you might have cured world hunger by now 🙄
I wonder what is more likely to happen: Alfie making this video or Tottenham winning a trophy?
I have always wondered this
Ligue one distilled I’m smoking on a distillate ligue one cart so buns ☠️
Alfie could you make a video on how if Catalonia/Basque country seceded from Spain what would happen to La Liga and teams like Barcelona
The fact about AS Monaco losing right to European quailification via French Ligue 1 if Monaco became UEFA member isn't true. Wales is UEFA member and that doesn't prevent Cardiff City to qualify via England league to European cups
I was just wondering this, I can't believe my luck
19:09 this genuinely made me laugh out loud!
Day 2 of asking to do a top 7 of the hitc videos
Alfie make a video about possible Basque and Catalan teams😄
I live in Kansas City and I have to admit, I did not see that Roos reference coming. They are a university team, not professional, and tend to rebrand every few years. Growing up, I would have known them as the Kangaroos from UMKC (University of Missouri - Kansas City).
What would happen if Cardiff won the premier league
They'd probably play in the Champions League as a representative of England.
Would be cool if Monaco, Vatican City and Reunion had teams
Former PSG, Newcastle and Portsmouth sulker and occasional footballer Laurent Robert came from Reunion.
@@BOABModelsActive players like Payet and Ajorque also
I have to say I agree that hull is nicer than Monaco. My dad used to live there and there are some quite nice parts
What if a bunch of rich footballers decided to move to Monaco and take over the world game?
@20:00 - Aha, so Vatican City does have a football team after all - gotcha!
I think it's quite a lost opportunity, Monaco's NT could be a haven for French players who aren't good enough for France but are too good for, say, Guyana, could make a great XI to fight for qualification even
Alfie actually mentioned mark hateley and didn’t mention the Hull City link
Fantasy Football 24/25
Leaving Charles leclerc out of the squad is a crime 😂😂
Imagine the pope's XI football team lol. Could have a holy grail(cup) all the clubs associatied with religious ideologies instead of going to war just play football
Why do Kazakhstan play in UEFA when they've got way more of a chance of qualifying for the world cup through Asia and being regulars at the Asian Cup? That would make for an interesting video
Still loving the WATMORE edits 😂

Is this the same for Andorra SC who play in the Spanish league, or is that worked differently?
Alfie clearly never heard about the exploits of Romeo Sensini
Is there a football relevent country (or not) that Alfie hasnt make documentary about
If AS monaco had won the UEFA champions league final in 2004, would UEFA have needed to host the ensuing Super Cup match somewhere other than Stade Louis II to avoid giving home advantage to AS monaco?
Not sure what the rules are now. Teams have played finals at their home grounds before. AS Roma did in 1984, but it didn't stop them losing.
Imaging the Vatican City transfer policy, signing up the world’s leading Catholic players by offering Bishop and Cardinal posts.
