Neyland Stadium (officially pronounced "Knee-land") also had dorms under the south and east side like LSU, and from '88 when they closed until last year, most of the space was used for storage by the anthropology department to house its collection of over 3000 cadavers. Yes, there were actually bodies under Neyland 😂
Also, I think an honorable mention should've gone to Bristol Motor Speedway (capacity: 170,000) for hosting the largest ever attended college football game back 2016, Tennessee vs. Virginia Tech

    • @paxhumana2015
      @paxhumana2015 2 роки тому +2

I have also heard of The Body Farm and that is also a part of the anthropology department. The guy that made that concept absolutely changed the game for homicide investigations. Moreover, the archaeology department has also used their findings to help shed light on how people lived, as well as died, in historical times as well, so it is literally the gift that keeps on giving.

I’ve been to every ACC stadium except for Pitt and plenty of SEC stadiums as well to watch Clemson, so I’ll say this- Kyle Field is no joke. Texas A&M fans are extremely passionate about all of their traditions and culture, but they’re also one of the most friendly fanbases in the SEC and will gladly welcome visiting fans into College Station*. But when kickoff rolls around, they will let your team have it, going as far as yelling on 4th down when your punter is waiting for the snap. KF is the loudest stadium I’ve been to outside of Clemson, and it’s not even close. It’s an experience well-worth the trip.

Kyle Field has a lot not mentioned in the video. Tell me about your favorite school's stadium in comments below!
    1. The 12th Man is so loud that I once could hear the fans from 2 miles away.
    2. The north end of the field has a cemetery dedicated to all deceased Reveille mascots (Reveille VIII was recently buried there). After an expansion closed off the north side of the field, a scoreboard was placed there so they can watch every Aggie win.
    3. "Sawing the horns off" shakes the stadium so much that it once made Kirk Herbstreit nervous. Texas A&M athletes are known for jumping into the crowd to join the 12th Man in this tradition, but (American) football is the only exception I know of due to safety reasons.
    4. The second expansion added the "Hall of Champions" on the west side of the field.
    5. Unlike most stadiums in America, Kyle Field is surrounded by statues that celebrate the 12th Man rather than the program history.
    6. Alabama fans can get excited that Alabama coaches Paul "Bear" Bryant and Gene Stallings, both with connections to Texas A&M, are both represented with their names in the stadium and on local streets. For more about both coaches' ties to the university, type "Junction Boys" in an internet search engine.
    7. The largest attendance at Kyle Field also is the largest ever in the state of Texas for a (American) football game: the 2014 game against Ole Miss at 110,631 (including myself). This record will most likely stand for a very long time, as the current expansion (from what I know) cannot hold this many spectators.
    8. Kyle Field is one of the few (if not the only) stadiums in the world where the fans do not boo at the opposing team. However, the 12th Man is known to hiss at the opposition and at bad calls. This was once noted by a grateful Nick Saban on his weekly radio show after a road win at Kyle Field in 2015.
    9. The partially demolished stadium in the video was taken in 2015 during the second expansion (west side) that was completed just before the 2016 season.
    10. The 12th Man had a tradition of "standing on the wood." This meant that students would stand on the bleachers (formerly made of wood - hence the name) for the entire game except at halftime or during injuries. This tradition was discontinued after the 2015 season due to safety reasons, but that didn't stop students from disobedience.
    11. While the 12th Man is known for being loud, the quietest it probably ever got was when Johnny Manziel hurt his knee in a game against Missouri in 2012. From what I've heard, you could hear a pin drop in the stadium.

Hey dude, I'm glad you decided to include The University of South Carolina on this "Critique" video. Even though, through your own criteria, you were required to, but you made only two points about the stadium.
First, I want to comment on where you got it wrong after you completely glossed over the first badass point that you made about, "If we ain't swayin' we ain't playin'," but I'll get to that later...
The University of South Carolina does not come out to Darude's "Sandstorm." Although it has been played relentlessly since a few years into the Spurrier years; it is neither our fight song or our entrance music. "Step to the rear" is the fight song and just need it's place in this comment.
"Thus Spake Zarathustra" (aka 2001) It was written by German composer Richard Strauss. Though the piece was a part of the classical repertoire and introduced in 1896. It was later used in a film as the key musical motif in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. In 1969, it became the beginning of the introductions to every show performed by Elvis Presley. followed by the Elvis theme, and Presley appearing on stage. Professional wrestler Ric Flair also famously used the piece as his entrance music. The Gamecocks began using it at all home games in 1981 because of the correlation to the year 2001, which is when the University of South Carolina celebrated its bicentennial year. (source WIKI/ ME)
The second point about Joe Morrison's quote is entirely true, and this is where it's really badass. The East side had less foundation and support as the West side; so it was engineered to be able to sway from side to side. This way, with strong winds and/or a crazy fan base, it could carry the load. The student body discovered this and in several successful attempts to intimidate the opposing team, would all move their bodies, as one from side to side, and make the upper deck sway as much as 12 feet from side to side. I saw the game from the West side when we played (and beat) a #1 ranked Alabama and witnessed our fans make the East side sway again for the first time after engineers had fixed the problem years earlier. I can't remember if it was that game, (can't find the audio/video) but Kirk Herbstreet has said that he has seen it done and it makes it one of the most terrifying places to play in college football.
And fuck Clemson, you didn't even "critique" that shit-hole of a stadium. You left out the one key "critique" of the whole "23 most exciting seconds in football" They have to get on buses, after they suit up, just to get to the other side of the stadium. But you want to talk about a pet rock. Just read about their founder Ben:

    Political party Democratic
Spouse(s) Sallie Starke (1868-1918, his death)
    Relations George Dionysius Tillman(brother)
    Nickname(s) "Pitchfork Ben"
Benjamin Ryan Tillman (August 11, 1847 - July 3, 1918) was a politician of the Democratic Party who served as Governor of South Carolina from 1890 to 1894, and a United States Senator from 1895 until his death in 1918. A white supremacist who opposed civil rights for blacks, Tillman led a paramilitary group of Red Shirts during South Carolina's violent 1876 election. On the floor of the U.S. Senate, he frequently ridiculed blacks, and boasted of having helped to kill them during that campaign.
In the 1880s, Tillman, a wealthy landowner, became dissatisfied with the Democratic leadership and led a movement of white farmers calling for reform. He was initially unsuccessful, though he was instrumental in the founding of Clemson University as an agricultural school. In 1890, Tillman took control of the state Democratic Party, and was elected governor. During his four years in office, 18 African Americans were lynched in South Carolina-the 1890s saw the most lynchings of any decade in South Carolina. Tillman tried to prevent lynchings, but spoke in support of the lynch mobs, stating his own willingness to lead one. In 1894, at the end of his second two-year term, he was elected to the U.S. Senate by vote of the state legislature.
Tillman was known as "Pitchfork Ben" because of his aggressive language, as when he threatened to use one to prod that "bag of beef", President Grover Cleveland. Considered a possible candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 1896, Tillman lost any chance after giving a disastrous speech at the convention. He became known for his virulent oratory (especially against African Americans) but also as an effective legislator. The first federal campaign finance law, banning corporate contributions, is commonly called the Tillman Act. Tillman was repeatedly re-elected, serving in the Senate for the rest of his life. One of his legacies was South Carolina's 1895 constitution, which disenfranchised most of the black majority and ensured white rule for more than half a century.
