Thank you for giving Jordan-Hare some love. People look at the 86-88k (whatever it is) capacity and just kinda shrug it off because there arent 100k+. They just assume it cant get as loud or wild. JHS is absolutely one of the wildest venues to watch a college football game.
You need to do underrated stadiums, I’m bias but Mountaineer field when we have that “hunger” and want to win can get extremely loud and it is hard to win at night in Milan Puskar Stadium
Yeah I can vouch for WVU. Possibly the single loudest noise I have ever heard. I had the sensory overload thing happen to me. The sound was so loud I actually didn't recognize it as noise at first. Took me a second for it to register as actual sound. Almost like it hit my brain/body before it got to my ears. Although I can't compare to the other top stadiums on the list. Been to Georgia but it was a huge blowout during the day so I'm sure that quieted the crowd a lot.
@@CenkZappa I have been to a sold out Penn St game, and although Mountaineer field wasn’t quite as loud, the difference was smaller than most would think
I’m a Bama fan. I completely agree with your take on Jordan-Hare. Doesn’t matter if Bama is 11-0 and Auburn is 0-11 going into the Iron Bowl, Auburn will give Alabama the business in Auburn because of the environment.
When in Gainesville you sort of feel a magnetic pull to the swamp. Like, you are gravitating to that stadium the whole time you're in that town. Same as Auburn really, paynes prairie magic.
You HAVE to go to a game at Nebraska! That is one of THE LOUDEST stadiums in the country. I vividly remember looking a teammate dead in the face and not hearing a word he was saying!! It was misty that night, and the water was bouncing off of sideline equipment. This was back when they were good lol
Agreed. I worked in Elkhorn for 3 years and had a client take me to 3 Nebraska games. While it was GREAT, it doesn’t compete with Josh’s top 10. But, NU was AWESOME!
Understand that I am an LSU fan when I say this. Over the last decade or so I've noticed a disturbing trend in Death Valley. Unless it's a really BIG game or an unexpectedly tight game, by halftime the stands are already thinning out. This is particularly obvious on the east side. If the Tigers have a big lead against a lesser opponent, it seems like the fan's boredom threshold is pretty low.
I have been fortunate enough to have watched football games in all of the SEC stadiums on multiple occasions. 1997, when #1 ranked FSU came to Gainsesville to square off against #10 ranked UF, was probably the loudest atmospheres I have ever witnessed. Especially the last scoring drive when Doug Johnson of UF hit the deep ball to Jacquez Green. Immediately followed by a big Fred Taylor run to the goal line. With Taylor scoring a rushing TD to take the lead. It was LOUD. But UF left time on the clock and FSU was trying to drive down the field to either tie the game with a FG or possibly win the game with a TD. FSU started the drive from their own 12 yard line with about 1:45 left in the game. That is when the crowd got LOUD LOUD. 1st down - Thad Busby runs for a short gain. 2nd down -Incomplete pass by Thad Busby. 3rd down - Thad Busby passes downfield, and it is intercepted by UF linebacker Dwayne Thomas, which seals the victory for UF. That is when the crowd got LOUD LOUD LOUD.
Josh you do know the engineers who design both Oregon, Washington is designed for noise.. it's well known well others were built for capacity some built or rebuilt due to the college football success
Lifetime Vol here, we’ve kept the volume up off resentment alone. That bama win was a sign of what’s to come. GBO 🍊 our era is coming soon and that’s no delusion folks
Glad you give UW some props. The major SEC / B1G environments are the main ones people think of, but for a big game I do think husky stadium is right up there with the best environments in cfb and certainly as good as it gets on the west coast.
Born and raised in BTR & bleed purple and gold! Geaux Tigers! But I can say, via a client’s ticket offer, I got to see VaTech vs Syracuse this last season, ‘23 Every fan should experience Enter Sandman at VaTech. IT WAS ELECTRIC, and I know electric via Baton Rouge 🐅
All sec stadiums can get rowdy. Best environments of all sports hands down. Saturdays in any sec college town is a good time. I haven’t been to all of them. Only about half. All insanely fun and atmospheric. Miss state, auburn, ole miss. My team LSU, Florida and Arkansas.
People who have only seen a game through a TV are about to comment "sEc BiAs." I've been to everyone of these stadiums he ranked. This is pretty spot on. Only one I disagree with is UW. Wisconsin belongs in that spot. No. Michigan is not loud comparatively. No. Ohio State is not loud comparatively. No. Autzen is not as loud as people say it is. No. Sanford is not loud at all. That fake decibel reading on the jumbotron is pathetic. Good football team does not mean loud. No. Bryant Denny is not loud comparatively. Good football team does not mean loud. Don't agree with me? Actually travel to these places and you will see. Until then, your opinion is invalid.
I was there for TN at GA in 2022. Watch the replay on youtube, you'll hear them talking about how insanely loud it was. TN had 8 pre-snap penalties due to the noise
Yeah I was at that game and that's probably the 3rd loudest crowd I've ever heard. I'm a Tennessee fan and the Tennessee @ LSU game from 2000 is 2nd? And the Tennessee vs Oklahoma game is the loudest I've heard. But I'm a Tennessee fan so I could be biased 😏 lol
I hope you make it out to Norman soon. I know you mentioned you hadnt been to a game there but as a diehard Sooner I would love to see where you rank OU on this list. But man, I love the Cotton bowl in October when the Red River Game is played. If there is anything better then that experience, then I gotta find that out and attend that game. its 11:30am and TEXAS STILL SUCKS!!!
I'm genuinely curious as to what UGA's Sanford Stadium has to do to start making these lists. Close up the iconic west endzone? Hosting their biggest rival at home as opposed to neutral site would also probably help. You would think they would start showing up on these lists given the stadium culture change and examples the last few years (that even Josh Pate talks about).
Only time Husky stadium has been loud in the past decade was against Oregon when both teams were undefeated. The previous 5 matchups. You could hear a pin drop in that place.
Putting Washington over Texas for the stadiums being loud is insane. Literally after that Bama game DKR was turnt the fuck up for the rest of the season. I recommend y’all to watch the Texas Tech game. I went to that one and that was the most memorable experience ever. I’ve heard the commontors says DKR is rocking so many times this year so I’m just confused on how Husky stadium is on here when they only been hyped vs Oregon.
Autzen is per capita one of the loudest stadiums for a reason. Even with a meager 54,000 people in the stands. Once they expand to meet BIG 10 requirements, I would wager it will be an easy top 3-5 venue in the nation.
I'm a alabama fan but Mississippi state gets LOUD bro. Like seriously loud. . My top 10 stadiums for for being loud. 1 L.S.U 2 Texas A&M 3 Mississippi state 4 Georgia 5 Auburn 6 Penn state 7 Florida 8 Florida state 9 Oregon 10. Tennessee
I mean, Syracuse has to be included here if we are talking loudest. It's a freaking dome with a low roof and fans right on top of the field with the upper decks basically overhanging the lower deck.
Youre a bama fan so we expect you'd say that. Also it's highly unlikely youve visited a lot of these other stadiums when they also have big moment atmospheres to make such a statement/comparison.
Auburn in 2010 was insane. Went to 4 games at home that year and I can remember beating Clemson in OT how my ears went sonic. Also remember the LSU game in 2006 when we won and went to number 2 in the nation. My ears rang for 24 hours.
Great piece however do feel like Arkansas has earned an honorable mention it's been rough cause the team has been ass for a while but that Texas game is amongst the loudest environments you will find anywhere when we have something to uproar about other countries will hear it.
@@TCarter_88 This is my fault. I've only missed 2 games at Kyle since '95 and one was Miami due to covid. If I was there, you'd now be hearing impaired.

Even the best fanbases are going to go through a dip in enthusiasm when things are tailspinning that bad and that quickly
@@TCarter_88 It all depends on which game you go to. I visited VT when A&M played them when there was a hurricane threat, and the crowd was very subdued. Not impressive as a home field advantage, but I was very happy to go there. Just like many stadiums, you have to visit Kyle Field when they play somebody like Alabama (at night). Go to the Texas game this year, then give me your opinion.
And that was mid day in 100 degree weather which really drains the fans. I was there and it was pretty incredible, especially considering the heat. Texas finally gets a chance to start playing some night games now that they arent in the Big 12 with FOX big noon kickoff. Clearly it's easier for fanbases to get more involved and louder at night.
I was there in the lower section of the upper bowl. There was a Bama fan right next to me and was so drained from the heat but it was incredible how loud DKR was. Never had heard it that loud but night games vs SEC teams should get the environment to be considered one of the loudest
Having been to damn near every home game the last 15 years, I can tell you that any time a conference opponent with a winning record shows up it gets damn loud. Can’t say much for when we play an Arizona state or a non conference, though
LSU's Death Valley is the most magical place on Earth. Where else can you be surrounded by 102,321 total strangers who are also your best friends? GEAUX TIGERS 💜💛
Lol put Kyle field last just to mess with the Aggies. We know we deserve to be on those lists, and this is kind of a credibility check and I was afraid my favorite commentator was about to lose some
This list is wild considering he gave Tennessee props for one game. Bama consistently delivers good crowds should be considered. Whatever haters gonna hate.
It's not props for JUST one game that was the loudest recorded game in college football but neyland has always been loud if you ask players in the sec what's the hardest/loudest environment most say neyland or death valley and now that tennessee is competing for playoff spots year in and year out neyland is gonna be back to how the old heads remember it in the 90s
I only went to Bama road games from 1985-2007, but neither Legion Field nor Bryant-Denny were as loud as Neyland. The Swamp during the 1990s, however, was deafening.
I chalk the Auburn thing up to people who’ve never been there. I’ve been to 9 SEC stadiums and Auburn and LSU to me were on a different level but to be fair Tennessee was ass when I was at Nehland.
If you want to see a loud environment you better be in Lincoln week 2. The rumblings in the Cornhusker fanbase are already that it's gonna be loud. It is one of the most important early season tests for Nebraska this season
College Football games that registered on a seismograph: Auburn at LSU (1988) Miami at VT (2011) Alabama at Auburn (2013) OSU at VT (2015) Miami at VT (2016) Clemson at VT (2017) Miami at VT (2018) Notre Dame at VT (2018) North Carolina at VT (2021) Alabama at LSU (2022) Enough said, proven over and over Lane Stadium is the loudest and that is when they suck too.
UGA nearly broke the record in 2022 at Sanford Stadium at 132.8Db against Tennessee. Then the following season Tennessee broke the record in Neyland at 137Db against UGA

All of the stadiums on your list are either complete bowls and/or have a roof over the stands…I say that as a credit to these teams. As a Longhorns fan, I am disappointed with our newest South Endzone renovation. We had an opportunity to close in the bowl and increase the volume in that building…instead they just built boxes where rich people can be inside not making noise.

If at all possible, you should go to Lincoln for the Nebraska/Colorado game this season, kickoff is at 6 30 and Memorial stadium will be rocking.
Auburn is by far the loudest “underrated” I’ve been to. Jordan O’hare has some sort of voodoo attached to it as well.
I’m a Bama fan. I completely agree with your take on Jordan-Hare. Doesn’t matter if Bama is 11-0 and Auburn is 0-11 going into the Iron Bowl, Auburn will give Alabama the business in Auburn because of the environment.
I feel the same way when we have to play them in Jordan O’hare (UGA) oldest rivalry in the south. Place has some sort of voodoo in it.
When in Gainesville you sort of feel a magnetic pull to the swamp. Like, you are gravitating to that stadium the whole time you're in that town. Same as Auburn really, paynes prairie magic.
If it’s a night game at Baton Rouge. LSU is the loudest!
Auburn and LSU and the Swamp is a great place to watch a football game
Would love for you to visit again October 12th Josh. Autzen is gonna be rocking 🦆
Neyland gets loud whether it’s Noon or 8:30
Great piece! You nailed it.
But I can say, via a client’s ticket offer, I got to see VaTech vs Syracuse this last season, ‘23
Every fan should experience Enter Sandman at VaTech.
Go damn VOLS! I can hear that stadium clear across the river!
As is yours...no one cares!!

Kyle Field at the top. Balanced… As all things should be😌

I hate to say it, but I gotta admit the corn dogs’ Death Valley is the loudest
Let it be known. He was there and he knows Autzen is the loudest in the big 10
Just wait till Texas comes to Kyle Field Nov 30. That will be the loudest stadium you’ve ever heard
Nope
It will be, I expect it will be one of the loudest games there's ever been. It's going to get quiet there in the 4th quarter though
Hasn’t Texas played at Kyle field several times already?

True, but as a Duck fan who has been there, Autzen gets pretty quiet when the ducks suck too
Putting Washington over Texas for the stadiums being loud is insane.
1 L.S.U
2 Texas A&M
3 Mississippi state
4 Georgia
5 Auburn
6 Penn state
7 Florida
8 Florida state
9 Oregon
10. Tennessee
Yeah... but it's that "cowbell" loud.
I mean, Syracuse has to be included here if we are talking loudest. It's a freaking dome with a low roof and fans right on top of the field with the upper decks basically overhanging the lower deck.
Dog I’m not tryna sound like a ssahole but dude Syracuse is not even top 15 loudest 😂
Need to come to Blacksburg Va it doesn’t disappoint
ND @ UGA was unbelievable. Incredible experience
What about Mississippi State ours is definitely loud
I’ve been to games in Bryant Denny where it would literally be impossible for any place to be louder. 2019 LSU game was deafening
Lol
LOL
So was LSU/bama in '22. That wasn't in bryant denny though.
Youre a bama fan so we expect you'd say that. Also it's highly unlikely youve visited a lot of these other stadiums when they also have big moment atmospheres to make such a statement/comparison.
Bama fans are soft and entitled
I hear that west Georgia accent when you pronounce Auburn's stadium.
Vt vs unc 2021 was the loudest place ive ever been
Auburn in 2010 was insane.
Kyle Field
Kyle Field was Mid when I visited for the Miami game. Virginia Tech has yall beat.
@@TCarter_88 This is my fault. I've only missed 2 games at Kyle since '95 and one was Miami due to covid. If I was there, you'd now be hearing impaired.
@@TCarter_88 you unfortunately visited probably the worst possible prime time game. Backup QB in, coming off a loss to App State, locker room turmoil, etc all happened in the 10 days prior to that. Even the best fanbases are going to go through a dip in enthusiasm when things are tailspinning that bad and that quickly
Should move up maybe 2-3 spots max…
@@TCarter_88 It all depends on which game you go to. I visited VT when A&M played them when there was a hurricane threat, and the crowd was very subdued. Not impressive as a home field advantage, but I was very happy to go there. Just like many stadiums, you have to visit Kyle Field when they play somebody like Alabama (at night). Go to the Texas game this year, then give me your opinion.
In 2022, Bamas' Will Anderson said Texas was the loudest crowd he had ever heard.
I was there! 105,000 strong that place was SHAKING 🔥🔥
Texas can't touch A&M

Good to see my LSU as #1 we’re pretty rowdy and hopefully you don’t have on the wrong jersey
Bryant Denny is quieter bc we’ve been spoiled for so long. Back in 2009 I’d put my money on BDS being one of the top 3 loudest in the country.
Josh, Washington will only get super loud every time they play Oregon. Facts
Having been to damn near every home game the last 15 years, I can tell you that any time a conference opponent with a winning record shows up it gets damn loud.
Can’t say much for when we play an Arizona state or a non conference, though
Missed out on utrgv vaquero stadium.
Pretty sure he will be in Ann Arbor for the Texas vs Michigan game
If Rice Eccles had the same capacity as all of those it would be first
I’m a Washington Husky alum and the stadium is silly loud, like ridiculously loud. With that said I’m not sure LSU at night can be beat.
Gotta say I'm surprised Mississippi State didn't get on this list, never been to a game there but i imagine the cowbells are insane

Clemson at VT (2017)

Alabama at LSU (2022)

How can you choose to go to a game other than Oregon- Ohio State. Its 1 of the 2 clear best games of the year (Gorgia- Texas)
You got to visit Stillwater. Consistently called one of the most (or the most) difficult places to play in the conference by the players.
That’s not saying much in that conference. Even with OU and Texas still included
It feels like since the Brandon Walker stuff you don’t wanna talk about us much anymore, I promise we’re not all like that. Mississippi State definitely deserves to be an honorable mention.

I have been to LSU OLE MISS AUBURN TENNESSEE GEORGIA FLORIDA STATE And Alabama. Lsu is very loud especially when they are playing Alabama I'm not a AUBURN fan but it gets pretty loud even though OLE Miss Stadium holds alot less people but those fans love the Rebals you can quited it down if they start losing but they're is not much difference between all of them because I went to watch TENNESSEE play at Bama and you could not hear nothing but wild southern people screaming and during that game it was deafening. But at night Lsu is jumping. But they all do. The Last time I went to AUBURN playing GEORGIA and just about beat GEORGIA those people were doing everything they could to help their team beat GEORGIA.
