Wish I still had that red velvet two-disk vinyl album I got as soon as it hit the stores.
Glad to see the word “masterpiece” so often in the comments because that’s what it is.

I did the same. Bought it in 1969 and still have it in my vinyl collection.

Possibly the greatest artistic achievement of The Bee Gees - Robin is sublime here, but all 3 brothers contribute greatly. The video is also outstanding - there's even some wave crashes in time with the accents! If only the band continued in this (Robin's) direction - they would have created amazing music. Instead, Mr. Stigwood chose Barry and the pop direction - which lead to the disco days, from which the band couldn't escape back into artistic relevance. At least we'll always have Odessa! A True Musical Masterpiece on par with "Nights in White Satin" and "A Whiter Shade of Pale".

One of the darkest songs I can think of. The BeeGees could do good mindless music, and stuff that is real deep. Tnx4posting.

“Love and relationships are truly one of the most paradoxical aspects of being human. For it is in love that we find the greatest of strengths and the deepest of sorrows. Love can seem to be so fleeting and unachievable, yet it remains well within our reach if we only learn how to embrace its power. To experience true love, we must be willing to open ourselves up and sacrifice part of our heart and part of our soul. We must be willing to give of ourselves freely, and we must be willing to suffer. It is only when we expose our inner selves to the white-hot flame of rejection, that love can burn so brightly as to join two souls, melding the two into one, creating a bond that joins forever. It is from this bond that we draw strength eternal and power everlasting. It is in this thing that we call love that we find the means to achieve greatness, both in ourselves and in our lives.” ~ Anonymous

How poor boys that barely went to school they were been capable to compose those albums with incredible sounds and based on History. 🥲🎼👏🏼👏🏼🕊🕊
