    I went by the repair manual instructions for this bike and got a few tips off the forums such as the k&n filter with the 17mm nut and using aluminum foil under the filter.

    @Darius Gunn - You only remove the filter when you have drained the oil first. Since you put fresh oil in, you do not remove the oil filter. You will have to start over.

    No, always the honda dealership. You can get the same washer at your honda car dealership as well. It's just a cush washer. Tthe car dealership parts dept has the same part number.

    Hey Cyclecruza! Love the videos just bought a 2007 CRB 600RR today, Love it! Previous owner said it's due for an oil change so thanks for the helpful video! BTW where did you see that using diesel oil is ok on a sportbike? I'm not an expert just was surprised.. I'm going to use what the Honda owners manual suggests: Pro Honda GN4 SAE 10W-30 $27.95 Amazon Prime.

    turns out i did put the washer on there.. phew! just need to pay attention next time. do you change your oil every 8000 as manual states or more often?

  • @CycleCruza
    @CycleCruza  11 років тому

    Same basic steps for all motorcycles really, just like most car oil changes are the same except the oil filter maybe located in a different location. Fairly easy. Just make sure to replace the seal washer that goes on the drain bolt, avoid using the same one.

  • @CycleCruza
    @CycleCruza  11 років тому

    yeah but you will have oil on your pipes, also you should take the the lower fairings off to check your coolant.

    Email sent from shell when asked if this was good for motorcycles.

    I've changed the oil in my 2004 cbr600,last month but didn't change the oil filter that time i just have travelled probably 100 miles after that oil change,can i change the oil filter now without going through the whole cycle again? does it spill if i don't drain out oil n change just oil filter?

  • @DariusHilarious
    @DariusHilarious 8 років тому

    As I was changing the oil on my 2007 cbr I took off the 12mm bolt and let the oil drain completely then I put fresh 4qt of oil back in however I attempted to take off the oil filter and it would not come off and the bolt was so stripped that I could fit a 16mm on it.. I have the special Honda tool but I suppose it too late to take off the filter with the fresh oil in the system?? I haven't driven the bike just ran it for 4 minutes that's all. What do I do?

    CC, I got an oil change and it took a tech for a while to do an oil chant then usual. Then he took my bike for a ride and came back. After that when I was going home I smelt burning dry leaves/wood. I stopped to check but didn't see a thing. Next day I'd start the bike and it would start smelling again then go away. Do you know what that could be? I asked people how burning oil smells and they say it doesn't smell nothing like leaves/wood. I should of asked a tech, but didn't think much of it. Any ideas what smell could be? Thx man!

    CycleCruza Any idea why my 08 cbr600rr will not start up? Battery is good. I have it on the tender. I have not touched anything else on the bike. After trying to start. I can smell a little gas fumes. Tried again this morning and while trying to start it let off a pop from the muffler. Read on 600rr.net forum that it could be my spark plugs. If so, is that a pretty easy DIY job? This would happen since I was about to do an oil change and let the oil warm up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • @CycleCruza
    @CycleCruza  11 років тому +1

    lol yeah I should have learned that from the last oil change. I tried my very best not to get oil on the ground but failed. lol

  • @TheSoulMan11
    @TheSoulMan11 10 років тому +1

    I disagree on tool tightening the oil filter, hand tightening the oil filter is a better option. Tool tightening can risk over tightening of the filter, the seal can be compromised and start to leak. I always have hand tighten mine and never have a problem, I usually have to use a tool to get it off, which is a good sign.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  10 років тому +3

      If you have a good torque wrench you will not have any worries. The K&N filter has a nut on the end so it makes it very easy to tighten to spec. I've never had a problem. If you under tighten the filter you can also get a leak, it's. always best to follow the manufacturer's specified torque level.

    • @TheSoulMan11
      @TheSoulMan11 10 років тому +1

      CycleCruza If you over tighten then your seal will leak. I've hand tighten mine and i;ve only had to use a tool to get it off. its a factor that I was trying to eliminate, there are sometimes better ways then the manufacturers spec.

    • @MrNurseinTExas
      @MrNurseinTExas 7 років тому

      Better ways than what hundreds of engineers and millions of dollars have figured out? Not likely. I hand-tight oil filter on my cars and true, they don't leak. But when it comes to my baby, I always buy the right tools and torque to exact specs.

    Hey so my 2008 cbr600rr needs an oil change but long story short I have to wait about a month until I can change it. I've already driven about 200 miles and with the light on and was wondering how bad this is for the engine? I want to keep riding but the oil change light is scaring me and I don't want to mess up the Bike.. What do you think? Should I stop riding for a while or it's not too big a deal? I'm a new rider so I don't really know how bad this is..

    • @MotoBikeMike
      @MotoBikeMike 7 років тому +1

      Giomar Jaramillo that's not an oil change light that's a warning your oil is too low and should put more oil in it if you were in able to change the oil. if your engine runs out of oil your engine will seize and it'll be a paper weight.

      Go to anyy of the cbr forums, most of the guys use Rotella diesel oil. I put on over 11k miles on my bike with this oil and it actually increased my fuel efficiency, just logged a 49 mpg tank the other day. It's good stuff.

      no harm in using diesel oil, the only difference is the diesel oil has more minerals in it and holds viscosity longer than other oils. I use it in my 08 cbr and in a lot of my boosted cars for that reason alone
