The bug things are indeed the "Cicins" the Cicin mages get their name from. They seem to be a form of a giant bug with elemental powers which exist in this world, which sounds absolutely horrible, by the way.
The mages don't make them, they only attract them. The drops you get from the mages is a type of Cicin food, and the mages put that stuff inside their lamp-looking things and carry them around to attract the Cicins and then make them attack you, probably promising them an extra treat if they do well.

I think the ice-in-the-air glitch is because you're in an area where the water level used to be higher, there was a puzzle to get the water level to drop so you can get to the domain.

To answer the ice floors in the air at the domain area, it's because before that domain is unlocked it was originally underwater and the water is now gone but the ice floor interaction still exists

the greatest thing of the mouse/keyboard other than aim mode for the bows, is the ability to use elemental burst as the character comes out, with the command alt+ 1/4, so useful IMHO

By the way for the bug of the water by the domain. It’s because the water level used to be higher. And to unlock the domain you have to lower the water level. But for some reason it still detects it as still being there
I also recently started playing keyboard and mouse from keyboard. I always knew it was better, but controller was just easier to get used to and stick with... but faster movements and more keybinds are a game changer tbh
