Actually if you look at the seat, it has an ejection handle just no turrets currently can eject their occupants. I have a hunch they have just not coded it in yet.
I love the Hurricane and its grunty turret. I think more ships should have turrets with 4 weapons. Turrets should pack a punch, it doesn't feel that great when you are manning two size two guns in a turret as you could be flying a separate ship and bringing so much more value to a fight.
I bought the hurricane a few days ago as my first ingame purchase and I do not regret it. having a gunner in the turret makes it soooo powerful. only downside is that currently the missiles don't really work. they'll lock on but they won't shoot so yeah. other than that, imo, it's definitely a recommended ship for players who wants to deal some serious damage with a friend, or escort other party members in bigger and less agile ships

Thanks for the review Sub! I totally enjoy flying this ship! Doing most bounties thru VHRT's in 3.12x is a blast. I typically have 2 x S4 Attrition's. Add a gunner (with various loadouts) and this ship is a force...!
SubliminaL the way you explained the hit and run tactics was really interesting. But I feel like the ship has an identity crisis that doesn’t fit into the flight model we have. I always think about how a multi crew ship needs to be worth not having extra pilots in the air. At the moment I’m fairly sure a hurricane has less total dps, hull points, shield, regen, chaff, etc than two of the lightest of fighters, the arrow. It’s survivability is further hindered but the massive cockpit hitbox, turret gameplay benefits the ship but also its opponents. Not than many ships can do this but I reckon a hurricane could not make one gunning run at a HH and would even be shredded by a reclaimers turrets.
I understand where your coming from. And maybe instead of upgrading the hardpoints they could have just added another powerplant and shield to give it more protection. But I think the combination of what they have done and what your asking would be too much.

Great video man, only thing i disagree with is not allowing the pilot to slave the turret, because its a small ship and like you said its a glass cannon, i think allowing the pilot to have that much dps could be balanced as enemies could take you out quickly
100% agree we need more ships like this. I've been looking for a ship that is fun to do combat with friends, and we just been settling for the bang bus that is the freelancer. Though the Freelancer does the job well, I kinda wish it didn't. The turret changes this patch makes turrets very very good, fun, and satisfying. I would like to see some decent dual turret ships as well. Yes we have the Valk, but, I'd say something the size of a Cutlass or Freelancer with a top and belly turret would be very fun. Anyway, the Hurricane is a fun ship for sure
Worth pointing out that some of the best weapons for turret gunners (provided they have some trigger discipline...) would be ballistic scatterguns. By putting some size 4 guns on the pilot hardpoints, you free up 2/4 Predator Scatterguns, so you only have to buy 2 more for a full scattergun loadout for the gunner. Which is good since Predators are super expensive for size 3 guns. This would give the turret gunner over 4800DPS, and that's JUST the gunner. And if you'd like that same DPS in a solo ship, remember Freelancers do exist.
A friend and I were flying to Microtech and got pulled out of Quantum by a Mantis and 4 our other player ships. I doubt they expected a Hurricane. My friend is new and I just taught him how to use the turret 5 minutes before. We stomped them. The mantis was the only one left and he try to fight, but he didn’t survive a minute against the hurricane. I had call to arms and got paid pretty good from it. They have must of been doin this for a while. Almost all of them were crime stat 4.
What pad are you landing at? Idk there are no numbers. Lol this is so damn true. No marking of any kind. How hard is it at the very least paint a pad number on the elevator door or something
Hey, what would u recommand for a 2 p’ayer combat ship between the prowler and the huricane ?? I like the stealth gameplay (strike first strike hard). Thank you

People are always commenting on it's lack of Pilot Firepower. I'm a huge fan of this ship and honestly the thing can be a beast solo with 2 S4 Ballistic Cannons at the pilot's fingers. There are ships with more, of course, but 2 S4s is plenty for the boom and zoom style of the ship.
to me, this is one of the ships they made that kind of pissed me off. Because how do you balance for this ship? A pilot free to maneuver and a fully functional turret, meaning you can fly in such a way as to lower available surface area. I'm thinking 2 or 3 of these ships would be a nightmare for any large vessel.
Stock loadout is crap, but putting a pair of C788's? brutal. I have been solo flying this beast and it tears stuff up. Vanduul swarm it one shots all of them. Smaller ships 2-3 shots and they are pocket change. Flying with a gunner will make this thing brutal.

Weird. The SCTools specs page says the Hurricane weighs 148,000kg but you put 88,000kg in the comparison section. Mistake? The main reason I'm wondering is that I've been trying to find the cutoffs for each weight class of fighter and CIG has NOT made it easy. What I've come up with so far is: -Light Fighter = up to 70,000kg -Medium Fighter = 70,000kg to 135,000kg -Heavy Fighter = 135,000kg and above It's the only thing that makes sense with the classifications and weights they've given us so far - though I would REALLY like to see another S2 Heavy Fighter other than the Vanguard series. Most of the other prospective heavy fighters seem to be nearly half its weight.
They really should slave it to the pilot. Not everyone wants to be a gunner and not everyone knows enough people that play the game to always have one. If if is slaved to the pilot it can only fire in a very limited arc forward anyway, while the Gunner allows for a 360° arc. This is what the actual benefit of dedicated gunners is.
@@SubliminaLstv No but you said it was outmatched, that means that there ARE better turrets. If something is outmatched or outclassed, that means it’s worse than other options. Not to be pedantic just letting you know!

While I gave a like to the review, I disagree strongly with it. The Hurricane is an awful ship. The reason is because its concept, a small fighter with most of its armament focused into a turret controlled by a second crewman, is historically proven to be a terrible idea. Google 'Boulton Paul Defiant' and 'Blackburn Roc' -- they are the two worst fighters produced by Great Britain during WW2, and strong contenders for the worst fighters of the entire war, regardless of size. They remained in service for only a few months in 1940, before being made trainers and target-practice planes. Many of the weaknesses of the Hurricane mirror those of the Defiant and Roc. The main one is the coordination required between pilot and gunner: When you say it takes a lot of work to get good with a teammate in a Hurricane, you're underselling it. For the turret to be effective, the pilot HAS to fly at a relatively steady pace and rate, with minimal maneuvering so the gunner can maximize his chances of landing shots. However, this makes the Hurricane a sitting duck. For the pilot to keep the plane alive, he has to use all the maneuvering tricks he can to avoid being hit, which in turn makes the gunner all but useless and eliminates most of the ship's firepower. The other weaknesses of the Hurricane: a flimsy hull, poor maneuvering, and weak shields -- mirror in some degree the problems of the Defiant and Roc, in which a lightweight, small-sized fighter was shackled with the additional weight of a second crewman and the machinery needed to operate the turret, at the cost of fuel, protection, and overall performance (the Roc, in fact, was so underpowered it often couldn't keep up with the slow-moving bombers it was intended to chase). These things could be artificially enhanced in game, but they really pale in comparison to the difficulties of the turret-based armament: the situations in which a Hurricane's firepower can be applied to devastating effects are very few and very far in between. Two pilots in separate fighters will be able to coordinate on offense and defense much more quickly and easily, and almost every other ship in the game is more versatile and can get more things done in the 'verse.
That turret needs to slave to the pilot because of the pathetic range of the scatterguns on the nose. I do agree that there is a place for a gunner and that spot is good for a lot of things, but if your'e running a stock load-out, even a Cutlass will turn you into subatomic dust in short order without a gunner. My Arrow has everything the Hurricane has, but it's smaller and more agile, so it can dodge and weave better. Give the Hurricane a chance...
Wait what 😳! #1 why do you use the stock loadout? I have an entire UA-cam channel around customizing your ship with ingame components. #2 The pilot has 2 SIZE 4 HARPOINTS, you can equip size 4 CF series repeaters that have 4,000 meters of range! Me and another piloy were able to delete NPCs before they got close enough for me to tell what ship they were. Im assuming that you are unaware that since about a year ago we have long term persistance for ship components and weapons. So you can spend aUEC on components and not loose them if you die. 😁
@@SubliminaLstv I know that your channel is dedicated to upgrading and modifying ships in the verse and I watch all the time. 2 Size 4 hardpoints, even gimballed are worthless in a ship that can't turn fast. I understand that if you have a copilot in a Hurricane, you can bring a storm of pain to the bad guys, but what if you don't have that other player? You'd be better off in a ship like the Cutlass, or even an Arrow. At least with an Arrow, you can maneuver. I want the turret to be slaved to the pilot if you don't have a gunner. That's all. As far as persistence goes, I had a fully tricked out Freelancer DUR before the last update and it's back to stock now. I spent 200k or so on all the goodies, too. The same can be said for the pair of Attrition 3s I had on my Hurricane. All I could find from CIG was basically an "Oops, my bad" in the patch notes...
Ok Robert we both have an understanding of exactly where this ship excels and where it succeeds. You say it is useless without a turret gunner. That is why I like it, it is a ship that REQUIRES teamplay. If you dont have a gunner don't pull it out... or even purchase it for that matter. If your a solo player you'd be better off in an arrow or gladius... so this ship isn't for you if you don't want to play SC with players. You'll have to wait until NPCs can be hired or they add AI serverblades.
@@SubliminaLstv Sub, dude, let's be honest here. You're one of "the guys". If you pop up in a server, every Tom, Dick, Harry and probably a few Susie's want to team up with you. I'm just an average guy with a few ships that are multi-person capable(OK, most of my ships can take multiple people). If I want to run bounty missions, it's a real struggle to find a crew, even if I break out my Retaliator, which can easily take on a Hammerhead in single combat. Something like a Hurricane, which is a small heavy fighter, should be able to allow the pilot to use all of her guns when flying solo. It's a bigger version of the Arrow. Why is that not a thing? In the long run, I know that all of your seats can be filled by AI. When it comes to the Hurricane, I feel that it should perform like the Arrow. Think about flying an Arrow with just the forward guns and missile. It makes me shudder to think about that myself. If you have an extra guy to man the guns, then you have someone to cover your 6 and engage targets in a half sphere around your cockpit. If you don't, at least you can hit with all you've got.
Yeah but I'm socially awkward so I dont make friends easy. The point is there are lots of players who are solo and there are lots of solo ships. There are also players who enjoy and have easy access to a second person and this ship is for them not for you. Lone wolfs can't have all ships, you have enough. This is for the husband and wife, brother and brother, father and son. And all the female versions of those scenarios lol.

30K win XDDD
i was going to thumbs up for the entertainment but as soon as you said i hope it doesn't get slaved you earned your first thumbs down!
Bring it!
