We're so glad you guys are out there helping Andrew finish up the castle. We know and Andrew knows that it will be done right. Much love & respect to you both.
I remember wondering how and whether Andrew was going to finish off the inside of the container castle. It's a cool build, for sure - and I love the all the angles, the outdoor space, those huge windows... but I couldn't imagine how he would finish it off. He doesn't strike me as the interior decorator type... or even as a finish carpenter, you know? So I'm glad you guys are there for him. I hope he films the spray foaming of this thing... and then the rest of the work to finish off the inside. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Dan & Sheryl, Jesse, and Andrew three hard working and talented individuals. Great “Can do” attitudes. Speaks to another generation. I recall growing up with a father who did anything and everything by himself( and his seven male children. Need a new drive way, no problem. Need a new roof, easy undertaking. Need new concrete steps, no hesitation. That mind set is missing today.
I remember watching Andrew build these walls and roof all in steel and glass, and I wondered how he was going to insulate it, because obviously it will be very cold in the winter. I know he has said he don't care about heating the garage because he gets used to it being cold. I guess in a garage, when you're working, you will keep warm but in a house you need insulation and heating to be comfortable. So this is great to see!
Lots of challenges framing out a building not originally built to be insulated, great job so far. Three of my favorite channels , Jesse, Dan, and Andrew.
You two work extremely well together! I’ve always said the test of a marriage is putting up one of those Arrow Metal Sheds. We’ve put up 3 in our 47 years, so I guess we’re good!
It's WONDERFUL to see Andrew building out the interior of his Castle🏰. I've always wondered why Andrew doesn't have a Wood 🪵Boiler to heat the castle🤔 You two are going a GREAT job.👍
Three great channels, Dan Wheeler & Sheryl's (aka Mrs. W) Jesse and Andrew. I subscribe to all of them! God bless and take care from your long-time California subscriber.🙏🙌
My son several years ago added a hot air furnace that he tied into his duct system it uses wood or coal in a way that if the wood furnace doesn’t supply enough heat the gas fired hot air furnace kicks in to increase the heat needed it’s in series so if the wood furnace doesn’t supply enough heat the gas furnace automatically kicks in !,
As always Dan awesome job. Dan and Sheryl, the professionalism you both have with all this, and your carpentery skills, in getting all this the way you want it to look is amazing, but not surprizing , considering your talent. Andrew went from just having a small bedroom heated to now his entire castle heated:-). Wondering how he will have all this heated. Is he thinking of going off grid like his cousin Jesse and you both?? Again, Really enjoyed this video. Appreicated.
Dan, you and Mrs W did a great job there. CAN YOU STILL HEAR EACH OTHER! Boy, I can see why a guy might prefer working with wood? At least then it's only your tools and the chickens making noises off! Knee pads, a hard hat and some sort of ear protection would seem in order as that tower is only going to be noisier to work in? Andrew C having to face up to the fact that steel isn't a great insulator when it comes to keeping the cold out. And presumably it's going to be even colder at the top of the mountain in his new castle. I loved the original steel structure going up, and I guess the insulation does at least make the castle walls more realistically thick. Should help keep the cannon balls out better!
I had to chuckle. Although I can see by the lack of slab and construction in front of the separate shop and storage area that this is an older film, I have to recall watching one of Andrew's early videos just after building the castle stating that he didn't need heat in it! I wondered how long that was going to sail. New York isn't Alaska but it still gets damn uncomfortable to always be cold or wrapped in layers of clothing. I figured the first time he had a woman live over that it would rapidly change. It has lasted quite a while although he seems to have moved up to the mountain top property in winter an awful lot. Nothing colder than a steel building. Then no real heat source and no insulation, well it would get old.
What he just studts did you use ? I hope a minim from of 20 gauge. Otherwise was when you go to screw your dura. The screws will strip out... Also might want to think about put in bridging in between the studs. It helps stiffen things up... Not sure if relying an insulation to make the walls more Rigid is the way to go... I would definite. Will you do box headers above the doors? And windows, or you may experience sagging.... Hopefully it's helpful not trying to be critical
If I was him I would go with "5/8 go board" it's fire rated and is very light and easy to work with. And also has insulation properties too as it's foam board coated in cement
Andrew should add more receptacles and switches before he closes the wall cavities. Maybe using NAC code as a guideline, the building itself is fireproof less the contents. Run low voltage wire for LED strip light for outside as well as inside computer controlled would be neat.
Powder actuated nailer works good when fastening metal channel to concrete and steel posts instead of all that drilling and using expensive screws (tapcons).
Insulating in cold climates you would usually not want metal studs ..they would be freezing cold inside those walls. But if that's what Andrew wants. :)
This is really cool to see! Some life changing advice for concrete drilling, instead of fighting with a regular drill that has a "hammer" mode, get an SDS drill. Drilling into concrete with an SDS is the only way to go, even for tapcons. I use a dewalt 12v SDS for smaller stuff and a 20v for up to about an inch.
They make metal stud framing that is wieldable, personally i think he should have just wielded lags bolts to the existing structure. Something to think about for future castle builds.
I hope to see a proper work table on saw horses working on floor is hard on the back ,no bending over or getting up from floor ,but great work guy wish I was there did that work on many casinos in Las Vegas ,(old guy) jimmy mac ,Las Vegas millwrights!
Paslode Impulse for iron beams and concrete and Knauf punch pliers ;) The stud profiles are not screwed in place, they have to be able to move, the whole structure moves, including the stud frame and the plasterboard, for the future :)
24:44 .. I find when this happens the drill but is wearing down smaller, I just "wallow" the hole open a bit and can get dozens of more holes out of the bit! :)
Mrs W you need to tie your hair up out of the way when bending down cutting with that circular saw, if it gets trapped in that gap in the guard it can tear your hair off from your scalp ma’am🥹 David Liverpool UK😳
Don't drill your tapcon holes in one go. Pull the bit out several times while drilling to remove the dust from the hole. If you don't you'll snap off tapcons all day.
How will the window be framed out? It looks like your framed even with the angle iron holding the glass in. Meaning the wondeboard will need to be ripped out to replace the insulated unit.
OLD MAN hear not so good after been in the trade about whole his liFE! this was no match for ya , seen u wit wood can do anything, guess there jesse got his knowledge from ! so happy to see u all work and good at it
One thing Andrew overlooked that is going to turn that house into a mold factory that he can't live in is exodermal factor . Once he installed the spray foam the house is going to sweat like a pig inside . He's going to need a air chandler that is designed for 10x's what would normaly needed he's going to need a dehumidifier for each room . IT then will take alot of electricity to run plus air purifucation the expence of filtros changed every week . This is going to make the efficiency upsidedown so far . He could heat and Cool 10 homes of the same size for the cost of this one .
I'd be going 6" studs with a thermal break. Nothing sucks the heat out like steel. Chop saw in and all metal and concrete space. That's gotta be a little noisy. No hearing protection?:)
I truly love the fact that Andrew continues to use your family to finish the castle out that shows you true friendship and respect
And trust!!
I will tell ya the pride Mr and Mrs W take in their work is something to be admired. Everything is done correctly.
thanks
agree! Their attention to detail is paramount👌
We're so glad you guys are out there helping Andrew finish up the castle. We know and Andrew knows that it will be done right. Much love & respect to you both.
This will be interesting to see. I really like the look the way it was. Hopefully the new look will be cool and make the area more functional.
it will look different but it was way to cold in the winter
As a long term fan of the young man, very pleased for you to share this upgrade. Best of good fortune to you both.

This was a major undertaking you & your wife work well together.
Can’t wait to see it completed
yea it is we will be at it for a while

thanks
good work partner, thxs for sharing...
all this glass, makes it a bit of a challenge...I'm thinkin that's why you're doing it Dan...if you get my drift
thanks for watching
Looks like the garage is finished. Looking forward on video update.
not yet but getting close

I am a subscriber to Andrew, I’ve never seen one of your videos before. Very interesting, I enjoyed it and I will definitely watch more

he has Miny splits for heat
Are You and Sheryl going to insulate the ceiling? Looks good, y’all are like my wife and I, always together and working.
andrew will have it spray foamed
Great work, you two can be proud!
YT asked me to rate your comment, i rated it excellent & tick marked all options except " funny" 😺
thanks
I'm not sure why but find the chasing chickens backwards is hilarious
i do to lol
crazy how well those screws go right into steel.
yea the bigger ones i drilled
Looks great, well done@@danwheeler5130
Another professional quality build.

Excellent work. Appreciate your sharing. Look forward to next video. Stay safe, healthy, strong, and successful. Blessings in His Holy Name. ☝🙏🙌💪

Such an adorable team. Husband and wife. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I’m gonna start going out of my way to watch this dude. I especially liked your excavator stuff. ✊🏻✊🏻🖤
thanks
Awesome and outstanding. Thanks for sharing and taking us along

it must have we are preping for insulation

hey pat i dont know what that is i will have to look into it
Not me. But what do I know 50 years in the trades.
Andrew should add more receptacles and switches before he closes the wall cavities.
Maybe using NAC code as a guideline, the building itself is fireproof less the contents.
Run low voltage wire for LED strip light for outside as well as inside computer controlled would be neat.
It looks pretty good some bits a little fiddling but overall is a straight forward.
yea the roof will be a fun part
Powder actuated nailer works good when fastening metal channel to concrete and steel posts instead of all that drilling and using expensive screws (tapcons).
I've not had good luck with those
Your videos are never too long for me. ❤❤
The Dream Team
thanks
You need a stud crimping tool, it locks the piece together then you can go back and screw the work together
it would be nice
Insulating in cold climates you would usually not want metal studs ..they would be freezing cold inside those walls. But if that's what Andrew wants. :)
What’s the best Harvey duty glue to use around the house. Thanks Eric Myers Richmond VA
This is really cool to see!

good advice
Nice job. 👍

Die Güte der gesehenen Arbeit ist die eines Meister, absolut perfekt.
They make metal stud framing that is wieldable, personally i think he should have just wielded lags bolts to the existing structure. Something to think about for future castle builds.
I'm wondering if, by the same token that the sprayfoam will make the metal studs and framing more rigid, if it expands it could bend them out of true.
not if done right they usually tack it with the foam then hit it
amazing job. looks good
thanks
I always thought the Castle must cost a lot to heat then remembered he as an endless supply of firewood.
he does but does not burn wood
Good job
thanks
57:33 Looks pretty good to me!!! .. Love to see it when the foam goes in! I assume regular dry wall, is going over it for interior, wall finish??
Was wondering when he would get to this ,I remember saying in comments about brick and steel aren't very good insulators
no they are not
I hope to see a proper work table on saw horses working on floor is hard on the back ,no bending over or getting up from floor ,but great work guy wish I was there did that work on many casinos in Las Vegas ,(old guy) jimmy mac ,Las Vegas millwrights!
cool
Very nice work Looks great
Oops, caught Mrs. W actually wearing boots later on in the video!
yea im not sure why lol
I laughed every time you guys said "good", because of Jessi and Pat yelling it in his videos.
Paslode Impulse for iron beams and concrete and Knauf punch pliers ;) The stud profiles are not screwed in place, they have to be able to move, the whole structure moves, including the stud frame and the plasterboard, for the future :)
Super Job!! Are you milling the 4x4 beams?
All the best from Surrey BC Canada
no we are buying them
Heck that's the guitar player for Stevie Nicks.
i do play bass
Spray foam with a concrete coating will look slick in this wonder castle Andrew built.
nice work! Greetings from Sweden!
Great Job..lot of work to go eh..
yep
Nice iob seemed such a lot of work just to close it in and insulate it but we'll worth the good job u two did 👍
24:44 .. I find when this happens the drill but is wearing down smaller, I just "wallow" the hole open a bit and can get dozens of more holes out of the bit! :)
I never knew Andrew kept chickens, especially the variety that run backwards :)
lol those are mrs W's
when's the video for his shed build out that window?
dont know
Mrs W you need to tie your hair up out of the way when bending down cutting with that circular saw, if it gets trapped in that gap in the guard it can tear your hair off from your scalp ma’am🥹 David Liverpool UK😳
boy that would hurt
Well done!!!
damn ur good ! exellence both of you! what a team i say
thanks
Don't drill your tapcon holes in one go. Pull the bit out several times while drilling to remove the dust from the hole. If you don't you'll snap off tapcons all day.
Good!
thanks
How will the window be framed out? It looks like your framed even with the angle iron holding the glass in. Meaning the wondeboard will need to be ripped out to replace the insulated unit.
16:25 Nice safety shoes lol 🤣🤣
hair that close to the blade scared me a bit 😅
I’m still woundering as to how Andrew heates his house ? I haven’t seen any ducts or heaters ! Gas or oil
he heats the building with a couple mini splits
OLD MAN hear not so good after been in the trade about whole his liFE! this was no match for ya , seen u wit wood can do anything, guess there jesse got his knowledge from ! so happy to see u all work and good at it
been in the trades since i was 16 thats 50 years and times have changed
Skip to the best part 47:42
So wots the point of watching 👀
Amazing!!
Spray foam is the only way your going to be able to keep this warm
they come to do it monday
Enjoy watching craftsman at work.Looks very tedious.
it is i like working with wood better
hi guys. nice to see you guys in action
You kids never stop ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
cant
Sheet rock burns?
9:42 Big advantage of these babies?? 100% fireproof! .. The whole Castle is non flammable!!
Need to get Dan some ear protection....WHAT ?
i had plugs in you just didnt see them

@Dan Is tha the first castle or the new one ? Oh i remember watching these videos few years ago you must just reposted them or started new channel !
Use some ear protection and safety rails on the scaffolding please!!!!
He should think about spray foaming the steal walls and roof it will seal air gaps and stop condensation from been a big problem
he is
Gonna be some serious moisture issues in that place...
👍
This short "good" at 00:09, what is that? Jesse and his crew does that all the time aswell. Family tradition?
One thing about it that castle is going to be a great place for Andrew to raise his three kids
@@kieranosullivan02 four if you count the one from his first wife
@@kieranosullivan02 I mean four 4 , two times two
I've never seen steel studs go in. Its more like sheet metal fabrication than carpentry.
GUD!
thanks lol
I thought Andrew did it all himself.
Dont tell him spray foam is extremely flammable
GOOD!
thanks lol
