Cheers Peter, very happy to hear you enjoyed it! It's an even bigger delight to have you comment such positive things here 🎶 I see on the Random Notes website Tom Anderson also arranged "Black Is The Color..." and "Amazing Grace (with Home Free)", which is an upcoming reaction 👀. Would love to understand Tom Anderson's arranging process - just incredible 🤯

Peter has sort of gone in his own direction with the acapella and it's very unique. He is fascinated with layering, and since a voice resonates uniquely, he will layer the same voice in many different notes to create unique resonance singing with another person doesn't create. He's a unicorn. Check out his Amazing Grace with Home Free or Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, recorded during lockdown with the Patreon choir and Home Free. Great stuff. Misty Mountains is awesome too. ETA: Yes, Peter and Tim have similar ranges, Peter just can't get those really low lows Tim does.

I think this every video. You, Sir Hairless, have quickly stepped to the top of my favorite music reaction influencers list (it's a very short/exclusive list). Another thing I think every time (and I do hope I'm not being rude) is that you should check your thyroid function. While hairless is certainly on the list of symptoms, thinning of that outer third of the eyebrows is a more specific sign. It could be as simple as low iodine, but it's almost always a matter of liver health, which is where iodine is converted to its usable form for the thyroid. If that's the case, look into eating more broccoli. Cruciferous veggies (and it's substance, DIM) will help heal that function. Sorry to seem out of place, and I pray for the absolute best for you. I hope to see much more from you for years to come. Thank you for sharing your passion and skill with us.
@@PANixon It's a kind suggestion but it takes for granted that the thyroid is functioning properly. He should have that checked before doing anything. EDIT: what I mean is that it's meaningless that the thyroid gets iodine in its usable form if the thyroid can't.. use it. That was my case and it took decades for the doctors to figure that out, after inundating me with completely useless iodine.
Dude, I literally keep coming back for the reactions BECAUSE of the facial expressions! It's obvious that you've heard it for the first time, and are still catching chords that delight you (filthy! lol). Don't ever change!
Someday, when you get a chance, I would love to watch you react and break down Bass Gang featuring Tim doing the old classic, Hooked on a Feeling. And speaking of classic, Austin Browns Bring Him Home from Les Misérables. Thank you!!!
Peter and Tim have been friends and collaborators for years, and have an amazing catalog of duets. Peter is a genus of layering and his arrangements always grab and engage. I love that you spend so much time explaining chordings, and in such a way that we understand why we have always been enchanted by such a performance. You must follow Peter Hollens! My favorites of their duets are this one, "Misty Mountains" and "Greensleeves". But then there's "Blackbird", and ... others! Peter also has an amazing collaboration with Home Free, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" -- a lockdown arrangement!
He's also worked with Geoff from Voice Play and The Hound and the Fox from the Home Free Let's Get It On video. Big family. His wife and little son also sing.
I grew up listening to the original song by Simon & Garfunkel & have always loved it. I think Peter & Tim do a great version of this song. Their voices complement each other perfectly. The layering of their voices in this is amazing. Peter & Tim have done a lot of collaborations including "Misty Mountains", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "Teach Your Children", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes", "Blackbird", "You've Got A Friend". All are excellent.
Peter sang with Homefree a song called I still haven’t found what I’m looking for during quarantine. They also included over 300 members of their Patreons. It’s amazing.
Thank you, Sir, for another enriching analysis. Your facial reactions are one reason we are all here. Peter Hollens is a masterful arranger. His "solo" version of Loc Lomond is the perfect example of his range. I highly recommend it if you want to get familiar with his voice. I've been a big fan of his for years. Again, thanks for everything!
Peter and Tim use to sing in another a cappella group many years ago. Peter has arranged and sung many duets with Tim . Dagmar gave you a good list to go thru. Peter is a master expert at layering multiple vocal tracks. MISTY MOUNTAINS (highly recommended) has over 120 layers. A couple other songs to consider is GREENSLEEVES and I STILL HAVN’T FOUND WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR. Great reaction and you have a blessed day.
I believe it was ball in The House out of the Boston area. Tim's first group (professionally) was Blue Jupiter -Ear candy was the Album Then Ball in the House Then Tim was with The Alley Cats Whom he credits with making him fearless on stage willing to make jokes and improve at will That's a debt we can't repay ! Tim substitute teacher in Texas right before taking a gig writing Songs which produced his Country Solo Album The Best That I Could Do which is Fantastic! while doing that Home Free reached out asking him to fill in as their Bass for their First Allied Tour and to sweeten the deal said we'll learn one of your songs and let you promote your album so Off he went to work with HF and then went back to his day job LOL HF reached out for their Allied Christmas Tour and Tim said sounds fun, completely forgetting it's Winter in the Midwest Tim You hate snow and Ice LOLOL They had fun and sounded great together and Chris Rupp pursued Tim for quite a while before Tim finally said hey You guys still want me? LOLOL Sorry Bass man Touey Tim wants his job back.
Great reaction, Sir! PLEASE do Disturbed's version of this song!!! I think you would really enjoy the music video that accompanies their version, as well! xx
@@SirHairless YES PLEASE!! At least for this one song - it's a "must-react"! I think you will be impressed with the vision of the music video as well as the cover, itself. xx
Late reply, I agree. But I do think that Sir H would enjoy the video that accompanies the Disturbed version, particularly. I think it makes it all the more impactful to see the actual video. It just adds a layer of gravitas in my opinion, and with SH being such a music appreciator, I think the video would blow him away. Hope you will eventually give both versions a listen, but I would love to see you react to the video version first! ❤❤❤ Egghead for life!!! I wanted to add super thanks to this reply to bump up the request, but I guess you can’t do super thanks in a reply. Bummer! Do you have a separate tip jar where I can give you a tip for my request?
@@wadebowenfan6743 Thanks for hyping up Disturbed's version It's on my list! Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have a tip jar. But you're already a member (and you have the accolade of being the very first member!! 👏) - your support is greatly appreciated If you really wanted to do a super thanks, I think it would need to be a separate comment 👍
I have not heard this version before and it's just gorgeous! My ears! All the layers/parts they did and added together, is amazing all the mixing work, and singing all the different harmonies. Really gorgeous! The way they leave you hanging at the end. I had to sing the end. I appreciate how well Peter and Tim mix together. Thank you for breaking it apart. I just don't have the ear to pick out all the different and odd notes we've heard. Thank you!
You are one of my favorite channels. I would love to see you react to K.D. Lang performing Roy Orbison’s “Crying” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” live performances. She is so amazing!
Your hability to identify all the subtilities in these arrangements is mindblowing Sir ..and sooo pleasing 🥰 Peter and Tim's works are always a treat. Thx ❤❤
Both Peter and Tim work on arrangements for their duets, but I haven't found anyplace where Peter says who did this one. They have worked together for 20 years or so and there fore know exactly what they can do separately and together. You might check the list of songs on the album "Beautiful Duets, Vol. !" to see what other songs they have done videos for so far. As others have said, Greensleeves is a more spare arrangement and a lovely one-take video. Bridge over Troubled Waters includes a BUNCH of bridges as background. I mis-spoke - there is at least one video that is not on that album - Misty Mountains - you will see many recommendations for that one, too, and for good reasons. For what it's worth, your facial expressions are part and parcel of your reactions - go ahead and forget about the camera.
You should react to Pentatonx’s version!! This is an iconic song. You can’t deny .It’s powerful. This is a beautiful rendition of this . I love this. Great job SH 🫅as usual. I’ve learned so much from you. It’s never appalling about your reaction AT all.I bow to the analysis Sir!!!!!🎵🎵🗡️🌟⭐👍 Tim and Peter also sung Misty Mountains Cold !I Awesome. ! In 2 months you have gone from 1000 to 17,000 +. It's you just being you. Don't change how you really are. I like that most about you being you. No pretenses.Always be yourself💕
The PTX version is in the Matt era right? I think I was going to react to it a while back, but saw Matt in the thumbnail so decided not to! One day, though Thank you so much! I believe in always being yourself - it's the natural way!
@@SirHairless Yes 🙄you are correct lol. I forgot that you were still in the Avi era.You did tell me but I wasn't thinking about that at the time . I was thinking about the song because you did back to back versions of Je Suis Malade. I'm sure you will pick something good .

Not at all, I don't know Matt!@@maciekprochniak9539 I've not heard a single performance of PTX with Matt in! I just started the PTX journey with a Sing Off performance, and then have kind of been (roughly) moving chronologically forwards with my reactions to become better acquainted with them, and have been staying with the Avi-era. Their catalogue is so big that there's plenty of repertoire, and I'm in no rush 🎶 That said, I have in my list every recommendation (even from the Matt era) so I know I'll need to make the move at some point and unlock all of the Matt-era content The question is just how soon
I love just watching you listen. You can see you processing it technically and emotionally. It makes it a wonderful, rich experience for us even before you teach us about what we’re hearing.
Love Home Free and Peter Hollins. Love this cover because it captures the essence of original so much was almost like hearing it for the first time again. Peter has stunning covers of " O Shenendoah" and "O Come Emmanuuel.
Peter is a master in layering! He has done several songs by himself with layering! Check out Peter and Tim singing “bridge over troubled water”. Check out Peter and Home Free singing “amazing grace”! Also check out Humphrey sing with Peter and all the Patreon’s in the song… “Still haven’t found what I’m looking for”. Peter does arranging but Tim has done some arrangements himself! Listen to Tim Singing all parts in Beach boy song… “😮In my room”! Thanks for another great reaction! After listening to you I always think why wasn’t music explained this way during my ifetime? Thanks for sharing your knowledge on UA-cam!!!❤
I love this song by Peter and Tim, and I appreciate your expression and that you cannot stop smiling when they sing! Of all reactors out there I think you is one of the best! Thanx 😊
I enjoy your faces of overwhelmed disbelief at the epicness you're hearing. It pretty much mirrors how all of us react the first time we hear most of these songs. I'm excited you've now been introduced to Peter Hollens. He is a MASTER at arranging and layering. I also find his voice gorgeous and at times even angelic. He has the sweetest falsetto but also a powerful tenor belt. You can't go wrong with pretty much anything he's done, whether solo or collaboration.
Your 100-note illustration of "funky" notes is very instructive and how you can point out those nuances more evidence of your remarkably discerning ear.
The first I saw of Peter Hollens his channel was all about layered multi part harmony with himself as the only singer. Later on, he began doing collaborations with other artists, and that is now the standard format of his channel. Peter does do his own arrangements, but I don't know how much his guests participate in that part of the process. He has a really good voice.
🎼🎙 . T Y Sir .... , and I mean it. I know about these two excellent singers and their other arrangements. Stunning is the word that comes to mind. So .. my bandmate recently added this to our playlist. I was a little surprised because we are a Classic Rock band , and also that I sing most of the songs solo. My guitarist really plays this one well. After enjoying your breakdown , I think I will be able to carry this tune with more confidence and hopefully sing it even better. Thank you Sir Hairless. 🔥🎼🔥. Like you , I get lost in Tim's ability and range. It shows how much you enjoy his voice.. and that is a very, very cool thing. Keep these gems coming ... more Home Free , please. p.s. ... I heard you singing on another video, heard you.
@@SirHairless you are clever , I will give you that. You didn't announce that it was you singing. ... but , I heard you. 👨🦲 ... 👀 ... very nice , very nice 🎶🎶🎶🎶
I love "The sound of silence" since I discovered it 45 years ago, singing it hundreds of times, love a capella singing and do it myself - but somehow this version doesn't grab or touch me. Maybe it's "too much", too much "acrobatics" and for me not consistent, it feels unnatural. So Home Free is never my favorite and Peter's voice or maybe HOW he sings is not "my cup of tea". Much better (for me) is the arrangement of Pentatonix, (there I'm getting emotional) and on top of it - for me very surprising - is the mv of Disturbed... Please react to these two if you don't know their versions, really worth watching! But thank you for your wonderful profound and friendly analysis, you I always like a lot! ❤
Peter and Tim have collaborated together on several songs. For me two that really stand out are Misty Mount, and Green Sleeves. I appreciate how you break down the music for us.
Peter Hollens is an amazing artist, definitely worth exploring. If you'll ever get into the acapella layering rabbit hole, you should also check Jared Halley.
Hello my friend. I truly enjoyed this rendition of “Sound of Silence.” Peter and Tim beautifully interpreted this iconic song. I was wondering if you would do this song, by DISTURBED? This interpretation of Sound of Silence is not my go to genre, 😏 but this man did a powerful rendition! It was recorded, I believe, 8 years ago, and it, moved me! If you can fit this in, I would be so interested on your two of this artist. Thank you so much! 🇺🇸
I was introduced to Peter Hollens with his cover of Baba Yetu which is fantastic. It was the first song for a video game to win a Grammy, IIRC. Pentatonix has also done Sound of Silence (cover of Disturbed's cover of Simon & Garfunkel).
SH- if you’re hearing only 25%, I’m only hearing about 3%. Peter and Tim go way back. They were part of a group about 20 years ago. They just recently put out an album called Beautiful Duets. I love their song And So It Goes, but there are many great songs. I love their collaboration on Misty Mountains (from the movie the Hobbit). I think Peter did 120 tracks on Misty Mountains, so I’m assuming he arranged this song. Great reaction as always. 😍😃
Peter is amazing. He does different medleys which are really a joy to listen to. My favorite colab is with Avi Kaplan in "Black is the color of my true love's hair".
Thank you for recognizing their pose at the end of the video as the S&G album cover. Very few reactors that I've seen have done that. Tim has also joined Peter for Greensleeves, Fire and Rain, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Misty Mountains, and Blackbird. That's just coming from my playlist. Peter Hollens has done several video featuring Home Free. Amazing Grace has already been mentioned. My favorited by far is their rendition of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. Peter contacted his and Home Free's Patreon members and many of them sent in videos to add to this wonderful video. Peter has done two videos covering Ed Sheeran's I See Fire from The Hobbit. One is feat. Taylor Davis but my favorite by far is his AMAZING! solo piece. This is where he became the King of Layering in my mind. A beautiful work of musical and visual art. He has so many other fantastic videos. Check out The Fox - Peter Hollens feat. My Son!
They've collaborated on several songs, Greensleeves, Misty Mountains(Tim literally vibrates the camera at the end) You've Got a Friend, Blackbird, And So It Goes(one of my favorites) plus others. Peter also has collaborations with Avi Kaplan. Peter has several albums that areall duets with other incredible singers
The idea of any project must be THAT THERE IS SOMETHING NEW, DIFFERENT, TREATED WITH CARE & DETAIL PAID NOTICE .... for the song is already a great testament to Paul Simon's wonderful natural talent in composition ..... so this perspective is both interesting as well as incredibly well sung in lead, harmony and arrangement for background voices - all THEM !!! GBjj
Wow! I love your analyses of songs. I listen to very few. Songs either I know or artists I'm really fond of (like Dimash). Your input here made me more aware of the intense complexity of this arrangement. I would not have caught it all before. The fact they also included 'literal' interpretation is insane. I never would have caught that.
You looked just fine, just appreciative and a couple of confused and surprised faces, expectedly so! By the way, I love your singing voice! I can tell it’s a clear and amazing voice. I’ve been meaning to say as such. Peter Hollens is a very multi-talented singer, producer, and much more! He’s very creative, as you’ve seen with this video. He and Tim have collaborated a good bit. Home Free collaborated with him several times. Peter also collaborated with Adam Chance. Your analysis was outstanding on this one, and there was loads of stuff to analyze. You covered it pretty well.
Peter is really talented in using layers (sometimes up to 100 at once) to combine individual notes to express wonderful and amazing cords. The management of the individual note progressions all compiled together results in wonderful sounds. I have to believe that Tim had input, but Peter is the main arranger. OBTW, Peter is a baritone to high tenor (he doesn't do the "low" notes). I have really enjoyed the collaborations that they have done. Great analysis and reaction! You do a very good job of breaking it down in understandable ways for the layman. Thanks!
Hi again. After 10 years, Peters Cover of " I See fire" , my heartbeat still rises and there are not to many voices (all by himself) to bei overwhelmed.
Thank you i also wanna say, you should know that Peter is a funny Guy, He loves to make funny Videos to His Performances but i'm not sure If everyone will Like it when it comes to Queen. I Love his Humor but i understand also if someone dont Like it. So maybe a short Check would prevent a Fight in the comments. His Video of 24 genres of Ed Sheeran's "shape of you" ist a greate example for having fun with music Just to have fun.
Peter Hollens is part of the A Capella movement that started to catch fire in the early 2000’s. In 2010 he was on the A Capella competition show “The Sing Off”. The same show that Pentatonix won in 2011 and Home Free won in 2013. Peter began experimenting with multiple tracks of his own voice to create a new style of A Capella singing, similar to what Tom Scholz had done in the 1970’s with his band Boston. One of my favorites combines Peter with Avi Kaplan called “Black is the color of my True Loves hair”. Definitely worth checking out.
If you want another dreamy piece, you should check out Peter Hollens and Avi Kaplan doing Black is the Color of my True Love’s Hair. It is another outstanding example of Peter’s arranging genius.
Based on your facials, I suspect that we will see Peter & Tim again on this channel. This has always been one of my very favorite songs (covered by a huge number of artists), but Peter & Tim took it to a completely new level. Very nice analysis too!
Peter and Tim are an epic combo. Have you don't Peter Hollens's "Epic Handwashing Parody?" It's from lockdown, and it shows his brilliant fun side! And his version of "You Raise Me Up" is second only to Josh Groban's, and it's a VERY CLOSE second! Also, I recommend checking out Geoff Castellucci's version of "The Sound of Silence." And of course, Disturbed's version if you haven't heard it. It's totally epic. And I use that term literally.
Que belleza es escuchar temas tan bellos en voces jóvenes con un estilo diferente pero tan bello como el original. Gracias por hacer que esas obras de arte no se pierdan. una master class por tu parte sir, un abrazo desde Argentina.
I became a fan of Home Free because of Peter Hollens, who has done several songs with Home Free. They have TWO versions of 19 You & Me (on one Peter's channel, one on Home Free's), done back when Chris was still part of Home Free. They are different versions - one more in Peter's style, while the other is more Home Free's style, and both are excellent.
Peter and Tim have done several collaborations. I would also love to see your thoughts on the Peter Hollens/ Avi Kaplan collaboration on "Black Is the Color". I think it's stunning, but would be curious what you think, as well as your analysis.
As you are now looking at Peter, may I recommend the track by which I first ran across his amazing layered arrangements: Baba Yetu. He collaborates with Malukah on this one (best known, I think, for her composing and performing of the theme music to the computer game The Elder Scrolls Online), and Baba Yetu was composed by Christopher Tin for the computer game Civilization IV and won him a Grammy award.
I always loved the Simon & Garfunkel classic but Disturb's rendition and Peter & Tim's have taken the song to a whole 'nother lever in totally different ways. Peter & Tim have such gorgeous harmony together - Disturb's version is, well, disturbing. Peter Hollens & Home Free have a video of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" - jaw dropping.
If you're interested in a capella goodness, may I suggest The Bass Gang, it's pretty self-explanatory and they're amazing, you might even see a familiar face here and there :) also Geoff Castellucci has his own channel where he sings in 4+ part harmony with other lovely gentlemen called Jeff, Goeph, Goff, and Darryll, who all look remarkably like him
Peter is amazing ... and a good range also; a master of tracks, blends, harmonies, and the combination of the 2. Trying to figure this one out --- so many layers (on layers) which each ...... well, just leave it to be enjoyed and appreciated : ). When HF (or any one of the members) and Peter get together, oh damn -- it's good. Then again - Mr. Hollens goes well alone or with anyone that he works with -- and vise versa. You'll see! This is always a journey and never a quick trip! Do appreciate your R&A --- till next time! Be Safe
Check out their collaborations in "Misty Mountains" and "Greensleeves". Not to change the subject but also, if you need a good laugh, watch Home Free's version of "The Great Mississippi Squirrel Revival. Tim does a great job on the narration part with the rest of the guys doing verse tags as well as the chorus. It's a Hoot!
Oh good you have gotten to Peter. Peter also has a very amazing multilayered performance with Avi Kaplan of Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair in 2012 where a wider audience first heard Avi in something other than always a deep bass line. ua-cam.com/video/3oc1XuqzyGs/v-deo.htmlsi=MzxTnQ92mc4GvpK5 Peter is credited with developing the multiple tracks technique for one or two singers to do all the parts with Fifgen Films 2 of the 3 members of which are now The Hound + The Fox who have collaborated with both Tim Faust and Adam Chance. On Fifgen's link you will find many Homefree, Pentatonix and other artist videos. EDIT: what I mean is that it's meaningless that the thyroid gets iodine in its usable form if the thyroid can't.. use it. That was my case and it took decades for the doctors to figure that out, after inundating me with completely useless iodine.
@@MetteC5 way to early for me to process that 🤣
Dude, I literally keep coming back for the reactions BECAUSE of the facial expressions! It's obvious that you've heard it for the first time, and are still catching chords that delight you (filthy! lol).
Don't ever change!
I love Peter Hollens and his arrangements and I can only repeat what others already suggested: Misty mountains
I've heard a lot of talk about Misty Mountains! It's now on the list
Someday, when you get a chance, I would love to watch you react and break down Bass Gang featuring Tim doing the old classic, Hooked on a Feeling. And speaking of classic, Austin Browns Bring Him Home from Les Misérables. Thank you!!!
Peter and Tim's rendition of "Misty Mountains" is a must. Wonderful reaction, thank you.
Misty Mountains is EPIC!
☝🏼 What they said!
That was gorgeous! Peter Hollens did a duet with Avi from Pentatonix. They sang Black is the colour of my true loves hair. It is gorgeous. ❤️🇨🇦
Love watching your face as you react.
Thanks for the recommendation, Beverly! Glad you enjoyed this one
I think you would really enjoy the music video that accompanies their version, as well! xx
Please do the live version on Conan I feel is even better than the music video.
I've seen the name Disturbed thrown around a bit before. They may need to make it into a future poll
Egghead for life!!!
👏) - your support is greatly appreciated
If you really wanted to do a super thanks, I think it would need to be a separate comment 👍
Thank you!
Haha me too (off camera, of course)!
Peter does mostly solo a cappella, he is the king layering. He is a tenor but also has a great range. Check out their Greensleeves
you are going to love amazing grace with Peater and HF
disturbed sound of silence is also great it gives me the chills every time.
You should react to Pentatonx’s version!! This is an iconic song. You can’t deny
.It’s powerful.
This is a beautiful rendition of this . I love this. Great job SH 🫅as usual. I’ve learned so much from you. It’s never appalling about your reaction AT all.I bow to the analysis Sir!!!!!🎵🎵🗡️🌟⭐👍
Tim and Peter also sung Misty Mountains Cold !I Awesome.
One day, though
Thank you so much!
@@SirHairlessSorry.. is there something wrong with Matt?🤔. I prefer Avi's voice too but cover "Sound of silence" is a masterpiece. .. unless you proove it is not..🙂😉
Not at all, I don't know Matt!@@maciekprochniak9539 I've not heard a single performance of PTX with Matt in!
I just started the PTX journey with a Sing Off performance, and then have kind of been (roughly) moving chronologically forwards with my reactions to become better acquainted with them, and have been staying with the Avi-era. Their catalogue is so big that there's plenty of repertoire, and I'm in no rush 🎶
That said, I have in my list every recommendation (even from the Matt era) so I know I'll need to make the move at some point and unlock all of the Matt-era content The question is just how soon
@@SirHairless Understood. Thank you for your answer. I will follow you.🙂👍
Peter and Avi duet is brilliant ‘ Black is the color of my true love’s hair ‘
Thanks for the commentary. Hadn’t caught the homage to the album cover before.
I love just watching you listen. You can see you processing it technically and emotionally. It makes it a wonderful, rich experience for us even before you teach us about what we’re hearing.
Misty mountains from the hobbit that's all i'm saying.
I’ve never heard this one before. Excellent! I love the Disturbed version of this song as well. Have you listened to that one?
Not yet! I'm starting to see it get recommended though
Love Home Free and Peter Hollins. Love this cover because it captures the essence of original so much was almost like hearing it for the first time again. Peter has stunning covers of " O Shenendoah" and "O Come Emmanuuel.
I really, really enjoy your active listening face. It's fascinating to watch, and it makes your videos more interesting than many others.
Peter and Avi from pentatonix, do old Nina Simone song Black is the color of my true loves hair , it is amazing
Love you Sir Hairless❣❣🤗 and again Thank you for your analysis ❣❣
Saw S&G in 1967. They put on concert with two guitars and a drummer. It was the most beautiful music I have ever heard.
🙌
Happy to hear it was helpful 👌
Peter and Tim both sing multiple parts! It’s a thing Peter does very well! They did an album together and it’s amazing 🤩
Tim and Peter's voices go so well together. I hope that you will listen to other covers they do together. They are all amazing!
Love when Tim and Peter collabe. This is great.❤️❤️❤️
Misty Mountains from The Hobbit by these two is one of the most transcendent performances you’ll ever hear! ❤❤❤❤
You will enjoy Peter and Avi with their cover of “Black is the Color of my true love’s hair”. Peter uses a lot of multi tracking in work.❤
The first I saw of Peter Hollens his channel was all about layered multi part harmony with himself as the only singer. Later on, he began doing collaborations with other artists, and that is now the standard format of his channel. Peter does do his own arrangements, but I don't know how much his guests participate in that part of the process. He has a really good voice.
Wonderfully illuminating analysis, Sir!
Great to hear! I'm sure you have a blast playing it 🎶
Haha which video was that you heard me singing in?
@@SirHairless you are clever , I will give you that. You didn't announce that it was you singing. ... but , I heard you. 👨🦲 ... 👀 ... very nice , very nice 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Peter & Tim singing "Misty Mountains" is phenominal, the layering & bass drops are, well, chef's kiss.
Enjoyed your reaction ❤
Peter Hollens is an amazing artist, definitely worth exploring. If you'll ever get into the acapella layering rabbit hole, you should also check Jared Halley.
❤ Beautiful rendition 😍🥰#Peter#Tim . Great reaction 🤠
Thank You….Awesome reaction 🙃🔥💕‼️
Hello my friend. I truly enjoyed this rendition of “Sound of Silence.” Peter and Tim beautifully interpreted this iconic song. I was wondering if you would do this song, by DISTURBED? This interpretation of Sound of Silence is not my go to genre, 😏 but this man did a powerful rendition! It was recorded, I believe, 8 years ago, and it, moved me! If you can fit this in, I would be so interested on your two of this artist. Thank you so much! 🇺🇸
Peter ist amazing. I would Love to here more of you enjoying his music. I Love his voice, range, how he perfom the Songs and His Videos 😊
Peter has been a high tenor in everything I've heard him in so far.
Two words... Bloody Brilliant!!!
My Son!
It made me laugh a lot What a nice touch!
Thanks for the reco's!
Peter loves adding dozens of layers of voices to his arrangements
The idea of any project must be THAT THERE IS SOMETHING NEW, DIFFERENT, TREATED WITH CARE & DETAIL PAID NOTICE .... for the song is already a great testament to Paul Simon's wonderful natural talent in composition ..... so this perspective is both interesting as well as incredibly well sung in lead, harmony and arrangement for background voices - all THEM !!! GBjj
Check out Peter and Avi doing Black is the Color of my True Loves Hair
It is a stunner.
Agree!
Thank you very much for another fantastic review. These are two of my very favorite UA-cam artists. Excellent job, sir.
Wonderful reaction!
Thank you! Yes, I look forward to discovering more of Peter's work
Peter is really talented in using layers (sometimes up to 100 at once) to combine individual notes to express wonderful and amazing cords. Thanks!
Speaking of vocal range here is a Russian artist to check out: Богдан Шувалов - "Lovely" - Голос 12.
Hi again. After 10 years, Peters Cover of " I See fire" , my heartbeat still rises and there are not to many voices (all by himself) to bei overwhelmed.
And please excuse my Englisch 😊
Hey! Welcome (nice badge)
"I See Fire" is on my list for the future!
These guys are awesome together! You need to check out Misty Mountains. Peter and Tim are absolutely amazing. Love your reaction!
If you want another dreamy piece, you should check out Peter Hollens and Avi Kaplan doing Black is the Color of my True Love’s Hair. It is another outstanding example of Peter’s arranging genius.
Oooo, you’ll love him!
Sorry to add to your workload - Pentatonix and Forestella have fabulous versions of this as well. Peter and Tim - Misty Mountains is brilliant
I love this song. It’s amazing how every cover tells a different story. The artists makes the song their own. Maybe react to Disturb and Pentatonix.
If you're interested in a capella goodness, may I suggest The Bass Gang, it's pretty self-explanatory and they're amazing, you might even see a familiar face here and there :)
also Geoff Castellucci has his own channel where he sings in 4+ part harmony with other lovely gentlemen called Jeff, Goeph, Goff, and Darryll, who all look remarkably like him
Peter is amazing ... and a good range also; a master of tracks, blends, harmonies, and the combination of the 2.

Peter is credited with developing the multiple tracks technique for one or two singers to do all the parts with Fifgen Films 2 of the 3 members of which are now The Hound + The Fox who have collaborated with both Tim Faust and Adam Chance. They sing another song, Misty Mountains that you can see more of the ranges of Peter. It is an epic version as well. I love these two voices together. Peter and Avi sing, Black IsThe Color Of My True Loves Hair, which is an awesome song too. I love your reactions an still amazed that you can pick out all the musical bliss. I can appreciate the songs, but I, just think they are beautiful...the construction, balance, texture and notes with arrangement are intriguing and so I come to learn from your ability on reaction and why. Thank You!
Great reaction! I grew up listening to Simon and Garfunkel, and this is my favorite cover along with The Disturbed cover😊
This is stunning. I’ve been meaning to watch more of Peter’s stuff. I’m sure you already have PTX version on your list. Geoff also has a beautiful version that is different, he changes the melody quite a bit. 😊
Yes! PTX version is on my list for when I get to the Matt era 🎶 And Geoff's is also on my list!
@@SirHairless Definitely looking forward to your analysis of Geoff's version! Note that the subsonic rumble you hear is not a glitch, but it is computer generated, rather than produced by Geoff's vocal cords.
With how much you enjoy complex arrangements, I hope you react to Voctave soon!
I plan to in the future, for sure! VoicePlay will be the next acapella group I react to as they won the members' poll I'm easing into new artists gradually so as not to be inundated with requests for loads of different artists
@@SirHairless Voiceplay is a lot of fun and definitely popular as well. I totally understand your reasons for going slow into each group and enjoy your reaction style. ❤️
I like the Tim & Peter collab of Bridge over troubled water, also Greensleeves
Once again, a great reaction and analysis Sir! This is my favourite cover of Sound of Silence, although I applaud the versions by Pentatonix and Disturbed. I'm glad you caught that their pose at the end mirrored S&G's pose on the cover of their Bookends album. Many other reactors haven't. And your facial expressions are part of the reason I enjoy your reactions so much.
