Great question - something I shoulda touched on by now with the 4s I reviewed, but...no time like the present: back in the day, people used to flip their inside shoe tongues so they were visible on the outside - simple and plain, bro.
If you think back to the Union 4s, they were stitched like that for those who just wanted to rock their kicks with the tongue already folded down (and you had the option to cut the thread and have the tongue propped back up like usual).
