for those of you who don't inderstand, the stall is to add comic relief and allow the people backstage (costume changers/props) the opportunity to prepare for act 2.

Damn! I never knew Reed could do all of those things! That throat thing is crazy cool!
And seeing this whole 'stall for time' scetch makes me want to see them live even more!

I watched the Hamlet part of RSC during class. It was hilarious. I remember that during the fire eating scene I clapped when the audience clapped b/c I was so shocked by it, but stopped after the first few claps remembering that I was at class and not there. A few of my friends caught me clapping. It was funny. X]

it's part of the act...they do the same thing everytime, saw them live and Adam lay down on across my 4 female teachers laps, clung to them then emptied out our passports from one of the purses...we were in London, visiting from Singapore

OH GOD!!!!!!!!! I remember doing this play back in High School. Long live Miss Anderson's class production of RSC!!!!!!!! We were probably the best cast in the world. Or at least at that school. Clarke Central High School.

Que genial, me encantaria estar en inglaterra para verlos, no se hablar ingles y entiendo muy poco pero soy actor de teatro y conosco las obras del Shakespeare. Espero en un futuro no muy lejano trabajar la comedia como lo hacen ustedes.

It's probably for some logistical reason; maybe they have to do a prop change backstage. It's also possible that he's just a really talented guy (fire-eating, accordion, etc.) and they want him to get to show off.

@taz18mythbuster He was. It says in the appendices of the script that before joining the RSC he was a clown for Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey. Nice call.

RE: the throat thing - you need to hit the right part of your throat. It took me a while to work out. Try about half-way between your chin and neck, and about a centimetre in from your jawline. I'll warn you in advance - it *really* hurts!
