As fulltimers and the lack of space in such a small home, the basement is a HUGE area for storage, no matter what type. 👍🏻 Good thinking on what your use would be.
You guys never cease to amaze me! Lance, RVers can learn SO much from the "fine tuning" and upgrades you've done, based on your wealth of first hand experience! Well done!❤️
Wow! Wow! Wow! That is my dream truck camper set up. You did such a wonderful job with the upgrades. Love how clean and organized you are. Happy travels.
Everything looks great and well, planned out, only upgrade required imo is the fire extinguisher in the basement to an Halon automatic activated system, by the time you get to that ABC if you can, it’s game over with all that electronics and batteries in there. Our Bigfoot 25C9.4LB has served us well for 7 years. Great information video 👍🏻
Thanks, I’ll look into it. However, if those batteries catch on fire, there’s nothing that will put them out. 😄 We had a Proteng system on our last rig.
LOVE IT!!!! Love the color scheme, the organization, the decoration (FLO), and the convenience!! We are so happy for you! Roger is jealous concerning the solar system! WOW! You guys are rocking this lifestyle!! ENJOY YOUR TIME!! MISS YOU BOTH!!
You have no idea! We didn’t really mind setup and tear down of the Momentum and driving wasn’t so bad. However… this has been a total game changer! It’s so much easier to move around and we can way farther off the beaten path now. For instance, tomorrow is a travel day and all we really need to do is pull in slides, raise stabilizers and start the truck! Oh, and 3 minutes to hook up Rubie. 😎
Yeah that is so cool. Basically just pull in the slides and maybe move a couple things and you’re ready to go. That’s also really good for security if you have to get the heck out of Dodge you can do it a lot quicker!
On either side of the bed, in the very small wardrobe closets. We’ve learned to pare down to the minimum and buy only if we need it. We also use clear Walmart Sterlite containers stacked inside to utilize every vertical inch possible.
Hi! 🙋🏾♀️ I watch a lot of rv videos, this came up as a suggestion. When you got to the pantry and kinda showed the bedroom I automatically thought of another video I saw where another rv had just came into a showroom so the host was showing it in it’s original new state & it’s the same except of course the changes y’all made on yours. Love yours.
Have y’all weighed your setup? That truck is likely DANGEROUSLY overloaded. Not trying to troll but rather warn y’all that you need to get a 5500 for that sized TC.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes me too. I had an incident where one of my rear wheels fell off going 60 mph. Not a fun time. I have since also upgraded to a 5500. Way more stable!
@@WheelinwiththeWendes very cool - is that the the 5500 Chasis cab? Really like the camper you have and some of your mods eg actuators for your solar - we are considering switching from our class A back to truck and camper so very interested in your experiences regarding the mammoth - look forward to seeing your setup with the 5500. We hope to be south this winter so maybe we can connect to get a “real life” view of your rig!
I compare the Artic Fox to the Air Stream brand of pull trailers. Super quality and comfort. Something you buy to last for years. I truly appreciate the curved roof and the added inches to the roof recently. My only suggestion, which is certainly not costly, add some more ceiling lights which can be controlled and dimmable. Adds a ton of ambiance in the bedroom or dining and kitchen areas. Also add a light to the outside storage areas which are dark and difficult to see. Outstanding product!
Great video and thanks for sharing your home. I've made note of several of your modifications to install into our Mammoth also. One thing you could do with the morgue door is to remove the whole door and frame and flip it to open up vice down to open up clearance on the bottom. Then just add a bracket to hold the door open. We're heading for Quartzite in a few weeks, maybe we'll see you at the Truck Camper Rally? Happy Camping!
Thanks! We’ve made many more upgrades over the last year and will be doing another video shortly. We will be at the rally also, along with the one in Washington later in the year. We’ve since upgraded the truck to a 5500 Ram with a flat bed and had it painted white. Stop by and say hi! I’ve thought about flipping the door also but added chains to keep it as a “table”.
The storage cubes were from WalMart and the fan was from Amazon. Less than $100 and super easy to install. It works soooo much better without replacing the entire unit. Vortex Ii Vent Fan Upgrade www.amazon.com/dp/B017C0RLP2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I am so happy for you. That you are able to do all of the things that you have to upgrade your unit. I am sad that I am not blessed with the ability to do the same. I would hire you to do this for us. Smile. You are blessed. Be thankful. We also live in AZ. 😊
Thank you.! I was considering one of these for our family of 3. This helped me to make a lots of decisions along the way, as I was watching your tour. God bless you and have a wonderful time on your journeys. ❤🎉😊
We started with a dually 3500 but quickly realized it was not enough to handle the payload. We’ve since upgraded to a 5500 and are much safer and within payload. Fully loaded and with a full fresh tank, we were 7400 pounds. Our ram was only rated for 5750. Our new 5500 is rated for 11,000 pounds. You would be safe right off the lot with a 1 ton dually but as soon as you start adding anything, you’ll most likely be overweight.
Very nice. Good balance of mods. What was the thing above the door on the inside? Have you thought about repurposing the black tank or the space it takes up?
Thanks! The black tank is shared by both the toilet and vanity, both in the same slide. Since the vanity is still connected to it, we decided to leave it as is. We had thought about removing the tank and just using a bucket under the sink but don’t want to make it too custom, for resale purposes. As it is, it’s easy to go back to a conventional toilet since we just capped off the water line and used a test plug in the toilet drain. Above the door was a rolling blind/valence that we removed when we installed the built in blind for the door window. Thanks for watching!
We’ve since upgraded to a 2022 RAM 5500 with an aluminum flatbed since we were far too over payload on the 3500. We haven’t done a video on it yet because we were waiting to finish the upgrades but should have it out soon.
Great video, love all the things you've done and definitely took some notes here for my Everest! Really hoping you'll be at the rally next month, would love to see this rig in person! Safe travels you two!
Thanks! We’ll be there! Actually already in Q. Look forward to meeting everyone. Be sure to stop by in the afternoons since we’ll also be working. Sure you won’t miss the solar panels. LOL
I had the same problem with odor in my Mammoth. It turned out to be the pressure release valve under the sink. I put in a new valve and problem solved. I took the old valve apart and it had tiny maggots which prevented the valve from closing correctly. I could have just cleaned it but I didn’t know what was wrong with it till I had already replaced.
That was a really great tour and I gotta say you guys are the first who did what I always thought to be the most logical thing: You reworked the area next to the entry into something more useful than a couch. I never understood the abundance of seating in RVs/campers. You have the whole outdoors to hang out, what's the point of a couch? Great setup, great tour of a pretty amazing rig. Love it. ^^
Thanks! Yeah, it was pretty much a waste anyway at the size of it. As a Jack-knife, it was only big enough for a SMALL child. It’s perfect as a desk area though. You just can’t slide a chair under unless you remove the storage drawer, which we wanted to keep. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! That’s really the only reason we upload videos. If we inspire just one person to make a difference and “Get out there!”, we’ve done our job. We just like to share our experiences.
Loved seeing your rig and really enjoyed all the organization. You guys are inspirational. One question, with all the sliders in, can you still access everything one needs for a quick stop?
That is an option from the factory. We opted for the small sofa so we could easily remove it and replace with a workstation since we both still work remotely fulltime. The desktop we used for the workspace is actually the "folding area" that comes with the washer/dryer option. We just ordered and repurposed it.
Nice you added lithium batteries, and 3,000 watt inverter is great. The propane fridge is my only question, why not upgrade to all electric fridge, they have more interior room? thanks for posting the tour.
We’d love to, as we’ve done in our other rigs. However, in order to swap it out, we need to remove a window. For right now we’re holding tight but it’s definitely in the future plans. We’d be able to go from an 8cu. ft. to a 10cu. ft. and not need to rely on propane. The other option is to convert ours but then we gain no more capacity. So much to do… LOL
@@JeremiahHexx We swapped out the RV fridge for a residential 2 months ago and love it! No real difference in battery usage either and no propane needed. 👍🏻 They both wound up fitting through the side window as long as the refrigerator doors were removed.
I have a 2008 Host Everest and really like the space & dry bath. The stickers on the outside are pretty bad, Alaska has alot of sunlight, not getting them is a great idea. Mine is pretty dated compared to your new one. Great video, thanks.
@@Craig-ml8nw Yeah, we typically stay out west and winter in the southwest so the sun can be brutal when it comes to damage of decals. So glad we opted out of them! Thanks for watching! 2 year review coming soon!
Thanks a ton! You must be pretty tall! We were impressed that we had 6’ 5 1/2” in a truck camper. The cab-over interior height was a big selling point for us too, since we can still easily sit up in bed, even with a 13” thick mattress. As is, with our solar rack, we can’t go much higher. We’re already about 13’4”! 😲 Thanks for watching! We’ll be doing a video on the solar setup soon.
Eager to see more on your solar set-up. It’s impressive! Was also great to see your desk set-up because that’s what I’ve been thinking of doing in one of the few truck camper models with a couch area, like the Hosts or a Lance 1172. I’m 6’5” so just barely fit in the Host campers - fortunately, like you guys, my rule is no shoes allowed inside so I can stand in the Host (also helps to be a skinhead!). Just can’t jump in excitement.
Thank you! We absolutely love the lifestyle we’ve created and love sharing with/inspiring others. Our only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner. “Get out there!” 😉
We are currently in a bunkhouse travel trailer, but we are more stationary because it’s difficult to move it around. I want to travel more, so I’m thinking about downsizing into a Host, which is the best cabover far and away. One thing I think I’ll miss is our deep freezer lol. I only have to shop once a month and then a smaller shop every other week with all the kitchen pantry space, residential size fridge and deep feeezer we currently have. I also just worry my husband and I might get sick of one another being in such tight quarters. What do you miss most about your fifth wheel? I think the traveling we could do by switching to a host would be worth it, but I’m not sure….
For us, the swap was absolutely worth it. The ability to be more nimble is so nice! We’re going to be doing a video on the pros & cons of the switch for us so I don’t want to give away too much but I can say this, neither of us regret our decision. One comment we always make about fulltiming in an RV is that you can love your partner but you have to LIKE them to do this. LOL
Thanks for sharing. What a magnificent rig your camper is. Wow! Blown away. Love the floorplan. Interesting changes you made to fit your lifestyle. We traveled full time in a 37' Class A for several years and loved it. A side note....I looked up the Beddie you mentioned. I don't think I understand what the benefit of the Beddie as opposed to regular sheets. I know I am missing something but unsure what. Please enlighten me. Safe trips and happy trails to you!
The Beddy makes it SUPER easy to make the bed daily, just a zip up each side, and we also love zipping it up like a sleeping bag to stay toasty on a nice cold night.
I love that the bedroom has 2 exits! We are thinking of downsizing from a 319DL Class C. I love this truck camper. (also, your accent, Flo, sounds like my family)
That was one of our requirements to going smaller. We didn’t want to wake each other by climbing over one another. It’s also nice that the center area splits up the RV into 2 sections rather than one big open one.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes Same! Plus I totally agree the dining area in our Leroy is so large and not needed. We sold our home and moved into it and traveled and it worked beautifully. Now though, I am ready to go small. Thank you for sharing-now to trade in our truck and sell the rv and hunt for a Host!
I would be very careful about setting up a host camper off of the truck. The couple beside us down here in key west had there 11 6 on the Jack's about 10 inches off the ground and 2 of the happy Jack's pulled out of the camper and it collapsed while sitting off the truck. They had the stable campers braces deployed and the Jack's still pulled out of the camper. When it rolled over it missed our northern lite by maybe 2 inches. We lucked out. The 2024 host they had us a total loss.
Thanks for the info, we agree. We RARELY take ours off, only if the truck needs service. Even then, I hate it being on the jacks. The only way I can see it being safely stored off the truck is if the base itself is being supported.
That’s for sure! For us, it’s a short getaway from society for a little bit. For some, it’s a way of life. For others, it’s a barren wasteland. Different strokes for different folks.
@@garyjones5093 It is. We’ve since swapped out to a RAM 5500 Cab & Chassis w/ aluminum flatbed though for the needed payload. Either way, we get about 8-9mpg when loaded and pulling our Jeep flat towed.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes . This is spooky because we’re considering a 5500 with aluminum body and a Host Yukon. I guess I really can’t talk to anyone more qualified then you folks about a similar setup. You may get more questions as we go. Thanks for all the information
We actually just swapped it out for a residential and will be doing a new 2 year review tour next week to show all our modifications and likes/dislikes.
Your video really resonated with us. We are considering a post Momentum lifestyle as well and plan to flat tow our Rubicon behind it instead of parallel driving like we do now. We almost put an order in on a new Host Mammoth about 5-6 months ago but ultimately decided to test out the truck camper model with a much cheaper and really old Eagle Cap. If it goes well we will pull the trigger on a Host later. We really like the decal-less look of yours. We are also considering the Yukon since it doesn't have the awkward sliding bathroom door of the Mammoth. Anyway, great video. Thanks for posting it! See you in Q at the end of the month
Did you folks do anything to the truck? We installed a rear anti-sway bar (roadmaster) and are planning some possible suspension upgrades, i.e. shocks.
@@buzzuti We’ve actually upgraded to a RAM 5500 flat bed and will be doing a video on it shortly. We also had the full Kelderman air suspension installed. What a gamechanger!
www.beddys.com It’s similar to a sleeping bag in that the sides zip up for easy bed making when you don’t have a traditional bed on the floor with a frame. It’s sooo easy, but pricey. Also keeps you nice and warm!
It’s possibly on our list. We currently flat tow our lifted Jeep and are contemplating getting a trailer to tow it AND have room for toys. Keeping miles off the expensive 37” tires would be nice!
Its amazing to see how much room you have on the inside
We hear at that every time someone asks for a tour. We even forget sometimes that we’re in the bed of a pickup.

As fulltimers and the lack of space in such a small home, the basement is a HUGE area for storage, no matter what type. 👍🏻 Good thinking on what your use would be.
I love your positive energy! Thank you!
Thank you! Being positive is all we know. This lifestyle doesn’t hurt any either. 🙃 Not that it’s always peaches & cream but it definitely helps. 👍🏻
You guys never cease to amaze me!
Lance, RVers can learn SO much from the "fine tuning" and upgrades you've done, based on your wealth of first hand experience!
Well done!❤️
Thanks, brother! GMTA, right?
@@WheelinwiththeWendes I can only hope that I'd get to that point if given the opportunity. 👌
Thank you so much for sharing this. Well done.
Thanks! That’s all we’re here for is to share our experiences with others. Hopefully we help at least one person. 👍🏻
Wow! Wow! Wow! That is my dream truck camper set up. You did such a wonderful job with the upgrades. Love how clean and organized you are. Happy travels.
Thank you! We are loving it!!!
I love this camper, definitely home like for me. Thanks for sharing guys! Awesome job.
Coming from our VERY homey Momentum, I think we made a great choice in downsizing. Thanks!
Thank you! Excellent video, your upgrades are awesome! Good to think about. Enjoy your travels!
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful!
Amazing couple! Great video! Enjoy your adventures!
Awww… thanks! We’re just who we are. No putting on anything for the camera. 👍🏻 Can’t wait to see the new adventures this rig will allow us to share!
Thanks Tina! Miss you guys!
Wow, just blown away by the mods and the detailed walk-through.
Thanks! We’ll be doing another in the future just on the upgrades/mods since we’ve added and plan on more.
Going from a fifth wheel to a truck camper is a big downsize but it’s got to make travel day so much nicer!!
Love the rig. I may have missed it. But, where do you store your clothing?
On either side of the bed, in the very small wardrobe closets. We’ve learned to pare down to the minimum and buy only if we need it. We also use clear Walmart Sterlite containers stacked inside to utilize every vertical inch possible.
I did the same with the decals, heat gun and a razor takes off the host decals 😊
Great space and excellent customizations. Love the technology improvements!
Thanks! We’ve since made a couple more mods and will be doing a 1 year review in August as well.
Wow! I love this camper! Thanks for sharing! I may even be persuaded to trading in our 5th wheel for one of these! 😉
For us, it was the best decision we’ve made on the road! The flexibility we now have is amazing and completely stress free.
Thank you for sharing your home with us
You’re welcome! We enjoy sharing what we learn to help inspire others to “get out there”.
Wow, beautiful camper! Thank you for the tour. I look forward to hearing more about the benefits and disadvantages of living in it.
Thanks! So far we are loving it and it’s perfect!!!
I think that thing is bigger than my condo. Seriously that is the best one I’ve seen yet
Haha! It really is amazing how much room it has. We’ve been very comfortable as fulltimers in it.
Love yours.
Thanks! We’ve since made even more changes. Eventually we’ll do another video. Probably at one year.
Have y’all weighed your setup? That truck is likely DANGEROUSLY overloaded. Not trying to troll but rather warn y’all that you need to get a 5500 for that sized TC.
You’re right, we were way overweight. We have since swapped out to a 5500 and will have a video out soon on it.
@@lancesundquist7589 We’ll be doing a 2 year review very soon, also “touring” the addition of our RAM 5500 flat bed.
😂 it's not an Artic fox!
Absolutely stunning. One of the finer ones!!! Wow
Any chance you have a link for the bathroom exhaust fan and the storage cubes? Thanks.
Thanks! It seems we’re always piddling around and upgrading things. LOL
Thank you.!
I was considering one of these for our family of 3.
This helped me to make a lots of decisions along the way, as I was watching your tour.
God bless you and have a wonderful time on your journeys.
❤🎉😊
Thank you! Glad we were able to share and help! Good luck!
Where did you get storage cubes. Can you make link .
Thanks Very nice rig.
Thanks! We purchased them at WalMart. Similar to this one… www.walmart.com/ip/5343085495
So great info! What truck truck do I need to pull this camper? At its weight?
We started with a dually 3500 but quickly realized it was not enough to handle the payload. We’ve since upgraded to a 5500 and are much safer and within payload. Fully loaded and with a full fresh tank, we were 7400 pounds. Our ram was only rated for 5750. Our new 5500 is rated for 11,000 pounds. You would be safe right off the lot with a 1 ton dually but as soon as you start adding anything, you’ll most likely be overweight.
HOST did it right, fabulous camper.
It certainly is amazing, considering it’s just a truck camper. 👍🏻
Type of truck you guys have? Model year and trim? You have a video of it? Thanks
Thanks for the info!
My mind is blown. This is awesome. You thought of everything. 🌹
Thanks so much! There’s one BIG thing we didn’t think of. Stay tuned!
A big thanks. Very impressive.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
This is the coolest set up. Good for y’all.
Wonderful tour and rig! Thank you so much for sharing. 🎉 Happy New Year to you both 🎉
Thanks and you’re welcome! Happy New Year to you also!
So inspiring, and informative! Your practical knowledge surely will be helpful to other adventurous campers!
Thank you! That’s really the only reason we upload videos. If we inspire just one person to make a difference and “Get out there!”, we’ve done our job. We just like to share our experiences.
❤ Beautiful camper inside thanks for tour folks
Thanks so much!
Loved seeing your rig and really enjoyed all the organization. You guys are inspirational. One question, with all the sliders in, can you still access everything one needs for a quick stop?
We could barely squeeze through to get in the bed but that’s about it. No refrigerator access.
Very impressive rig! Thanks for the tour!
Most welcome! Thanks!
Thank you for the walk through. A big help.
You’re welcome! At the time, there were no other ‘23 videos when we were shopping so we thought we’d do one to help others.
Awesome tour, and I love the upgrades. Safe travels.
Thanks! I’m sure there’ll be more!
I think it would be super great if you add a washer & dryer combo in the office area somehow
That is an option from the factory. We opted for the small sofa so we could easily remove it and replace with a workstation since we both still work remotely fulltime. The desktop we used for the workspace is actually the "folding area" that comes with the washer/dryer option. We just ordered and repurposed it.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes oh thats great
I hope you guys enjoying your time
Nice you added lithium batteries, and 3,000 watt inverter is great.
Fantastic, smart upgrades!
Thanks! We're always upgrading something, it seems.
Good Lord!!! That beautiful beast is a monster.. I love it...
It sure is big, and you know it while driving but it’s what works for us now and we LOVE it! Thanks for watching!
What's the payload sticker weight for your 1 Ton? It seems like the camper dry weight would exceed your payload.
We’ve since swapped to a 5500. Video to come!
Everybody needs to have a safe trip
Stay tuned… new truck video to come.
Best such review and explanation I’ve seen. Thank you. Just wish Host made truck campers with another inch or two of ceiling height!
Yes. Carpet on the steps. I slipped and my butt hit every step and exacerbated my lower back issue from being a medic for 25 plus years.
We’ve had carpet on the steps on every RV we’ve owned. 👍🏻
Epic space with slides that’s really cool space all you need really
As far as truck campers go, you won’t find many with more room. 👍🏻
Nice better than most studio apartments/ especially if love being outside perfect thx sharing
Thanks! The space works great for us as we both work remote fulltime and then spend most of the rest of the time outside.
Better than an apartment, awesome, you guys are living a lot of peoples dreams, make the most of the opportunities you have been given,
LOL
If I had the money this is the way I’d go to.
You’re not wrong, they aren’t cheap! If this wasn’t our home I don’t think we would have bought it.
Great layout with upgrades!
Thanks! More to come!
Wow... You have done a great job upgrading this.. I am truly impressed... I'm happy if I match colors that look good.. lol
Thanks! We still have some more plans and just MIGHT do a semi-reno.
You guys are made for this lifestyle
It definitely takes the right person and not just anyone. We’re lucky to both want this lifestyle. 👍🏻
I am in love with your mammoth camper!❤️
So are we! More importantly, we’re in love with the freedom it brings us! 👍🏻
This is a perfect home!
It is for us! Thanks!
Takes all kinds, I spent a month @ Quartzite one day. Others are welcome to my share of the AZ desert. Nice camper.
That’s for sure! For us, it’s a short getaway from society for a little bit. For some, it’s a way of life. For others, it’s a barren wasteland. Different strokes for different folks.
Fantastic job!!!
Thanks! We’ll be doing a 1 year review and upgrade video in August.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes . I assume that is a Cummins diesel. What do you get for fuel mileage if you don’t mind me asking
@@garyjones5093 Bring it on! Happy to help!
Can you remove the mammoth fridge and put a house full size fridge inside and would it fit
We actually just swapped it out for a residential and will be doing a new 2 year review tour next week to show all our modifications and likes/dislikes.
Absolutely amazing build, very elegant as well. 😎🙏💖
Thanks! Still more to do to make it “ours” but really happy with it!
Very nice and love all of your upgrades.
Absolutely loving the downsize and more freedom it offers us. You shouldn’t miss us with the tilted panels.
This is amazing! This is my kind of truck camper!!!
Thanks! We are absolutely LOVING it!!!
Epic.
We just bought an Arctic Fox 1150. This is a great North Star for us for mods and upgrades!
What do you call what you did to the bed that you don't have to make it everyday?
www.beddys.com It’s similar to a sleeping bag in that the sides zip up for easy bed making when you don’t have a traditional bed on the floor with a frame. It’s sooo easy, but pricey. Also keeps you nice and warm!
It’s a great camper love your upgrades. Happy travels.😊
Thanks so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed it!
It would be perfect if you guys can make a video about the details of the electrical system.
It’s coming!!! Maybe next week.
All that storage, but no room for toys? Where are the boats, fly rods, skis, scuba gear and more? A 20-foot plus utility trailer would be perfect!
It’s possibly on our list. We currently flat tow our lifted Jeep and are contemplating getting a trailer to tow it AND have room for toys. Keeping miles off the expensive 37” tires would be nice!
