I am so impressed that everything is organized and nice clean. The camper life can’t be organized and keep cleaning but you guys take care of everything like brand new.
@@Conturymaninus Thanks! For us, it’s really a must. Living in such a small space can get cluttered and dirty extremely fast so we like to stay on top of it. Plus, it’s our home and we like things to look nice. It also helps a lot at resale time. We got top dollar for our last rig even after living in it for 4 years because it was close to showroom condition. Thanks for watching!
Tilts are a 100000% necessity. Especially during winter when the sun is at lower angles. I should be able to change the angle based on the season.
@@vols2005 I’ve seen up to a 50% gain just from tilting! Gamechanger!
@ same here. 40-50% increase. I thought at first it was my panels bc I had 2 on top then I had an extra for the ground. The ground panel was killing it bc of the angle. So I went and got a tilt mount and now it’s fire hard. Especially during winter when the sun is at a bad angle and u need heat at night.
Thank You! That is one of the most ideally setup and beautiful campers.I have a back injury and would need a good mattress,; what mattress brand is yours? Also where do you buy the zippered bedding/.pad.
We have the Froli system and a Zinus 10” mattress from Amazon. We’ve had one in every rig we’ve owned and love them. You can check out the zippered bedding at Beddys.com. ZINUS 10 Inch Cloud Memory Foam... www.amazon.com/dp/B012H0JTMA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
@@WheelinwiththeWendes Thank you for the quick reply
Thanks for sharing this ingenious idea! I have a 96" x 51" 650W panel on my RV....what length and weight rating shock should I get? And should I mount the other end of the shock exactly halfway down the panel like you did?
It all depends on the weight and size. What I used was figured out based on my panels.
Great job !
@@JamesACarlton-y3u Thanks! We’ll be doing a 2 year review and upgrade update video next month. 👍🏻
Very nice. I think me and my wife are going the Mammoth way. Will be watching this numerous times. Tks mucho.
@@enduroed Nice! We’ll have another 2 year review video coming out in a few weeks with all the upgrades since we did this one. Stay tuned!
Besides the gas you paid for. Is there any permits or passes you had to pay for? Also would it be able to be done in a jeep renegade trailhawk?
There was no fee for this trail and the views were spectacular! Airing down was only for comfort purposes as there were no real obstacles other than the little bit we “made”. The grey Jeep is basically stock with 33” tires. I would think a Trailhawk would do fine if you stay away from the rocky spots and take it slow. We tend to take the harder lines. 😎
@WheelinwiththeWendes i can now confirm the small stock jeep renegade Trailhawk can make it through. With normal road tyers too haha. I had to drive extremely slow, i had pick my lines wisely because of some of the sharp rocks and because of the hitch receiver was a bit low. besides that i was running the Trailhawk on 4 wheel drive locked and on low and also had it on rock mode. that little jeep made it through fairly easy. it was also great seeing the look on people's faces and drivers looking at the small jeep renegade making it trough such rough terrain. It was great to know that the Trail Rated badge really means something. Thanks for uploading this video it came in handy for my trip there to Sedona. Now i am interested in what else the small jeep renegade Trailhawk can take on :)
@@talltony88ifyThats awesome! Glad you made it through and had a blast!
Love your Host truck camper! You two have a perfect set up. Thanks for the tour.
Thank you! Tours are usually done on brand new rigs so we thought it would be nice to show the upgrades in the tour. Stay tuned for another one after living in it for 2 years. LOTS more done! New truck with upgrades too!
@@WheelinwiththeWendes looking forward to it. I followed and rang the bell.
@@genelandCool beans! Thanks!
Very nice set up. Love the solar ,and being able to raise the panels. You guys did alot of work. Thanks for the great presentation.

@@FrankRoach-m1f Thanks! I guess we’ll let you slide on the Eagles, since you said “birds”. 😜
Great video! I have the exact camper and would love to know if you have a list of these upgrades and where to order them? Thanks
Very nice run, you do a great job filming it all too.
nice camper and nice updates
@@DeBoerVan Thanks!
The window shades suck ass. Anybody that has ever used a truck camper knows.....that if you don't have the jacks down and solid.......when you move around in the camper.....those crappy shades sit and bang back and forth and make a clanking noise. Not a big deal.....unless you spend $70,000 on it.....then I don't want that shit clanking back and forth.
If I had the money this is the way I’d go to.
You’re not wrong, they aren’t cheap! If this wasn’t our home I don’t think we would have bought it.
Can you remove the mammoth fridge and put a house full size fridge inside and would it fit
We actually just swapped it out for a residential and will be doing a new 2 year review tour next week to show all our modifications and likes/dislikes.
New subscriber! Beautiful rig. We live year around in my travel trailer and we go to quartzsite every year in Nov until Marchish. Anyhow, we are very interested in truck campers, can you tell me if you made any adjustments to your Dodge to handle the weight? Thanks for sharing 😊
Nevermind, I see you upgraded to a 5500. I'll have to find that vid 😊
@@Gypsy_TrailsWe haven’t filmed it yet. We’ll be in Q next weekend and will be doing it then. 👍🏻
@@WheelinwiththeWendes Awesome! I'll be down there sometime between the 8th and 10th
Do y'all have a stove so whenever y'all want to make a pizza
We have a propane stovetop but have never used it. We opted for storage over the oven. All our meals are cooked using electric since it’s “free”. However, our microwave is also a convection oven. We mostly prepare all our meals in an electric skillet. If we want a pizza, we order out at a local pizza joint. 😎
How many solar panels does a mammoth camper need
@@Narutouzumaki-r5v3q Great question! It really depends on your usage. We happen to need a lot because we’re typically in the west and work for east coast companies that start early so we’re up at 3am. That’s about 7 hours of usage until solar starts kicking in, plus the time asleep. We also run solely on electric and installed a residential fridge. Other than the propane heater we use in the winter, everything else is electric. Once you figure out your usage, a good rule of thumb is to have twice the amount of watts in solar panels to the amount of battery amp hour storage. Ex. 500ah=1000w. We have 810ah, so 1610w would work. We happen to have 1720w and works really well. Overnight until about 10am we use approximately 250-300ah and easily recharge to 100% everyday. Without building the solar rack, we would never achieve this. However, someone that is very frugal with their usage could get away with a lot less. We like to live as if we’re on shore power and not have to worry about it though.
How much is monthly electricity
Depends on the local rate and what’s being run at the time. Running AC nonstop with no solar can be $150+. If we’re able to use our solar to assist, that would drop to about $30. We typically boondocking though so we don’t really pay for electric anymore.
That has to be the nicest truck camper I've ever seen ! O ly thing i didnt like was the toilet was set up so high . But id love to see this in person !
@@lorraineakers8147 It’s definitely a downside since we swapped to a compost toilet but we’ve gotten 100% used to it. The original toilet was even shorter than the shortest RV toilet we’ve ever seen and was no issue at all. A small sacrifice to not have to deal with a black tank and extend our boondocking times almost indefinitely without having to move.
Are you sure the truck is not overloaded especially towing the car?
@@GuitarJams-zs7yf We’ve since upgraded to a 5500. Towing the Jeep wasn’t an issue, as it is being flat-towed, so there’s no tongue weight. The truck camper, however, was over payload for the 3500. No worries now with room to spare. Video of the new truck and setup coming soon!
Well done, I had the same idea, nice to see it in a three year old video haha, like you said keep it simple 😄
Thanks! 👍
A shower curtain used for a door 🚪 how filthy can one get?!!
Works great for us! And many others that have done the same mod.
I compare the Artic Fox to the Air Stream brand of pull trailers. Super quality and comfort. Something you buy to last for years. I truly appreciate the curved roof and the added inches to the roof recently. My only suggestion, which is certainly not costly, add some more ceiling lights which can be controlled and dimmable. Adds a ton of ambiance in the bedroom or dining and kitchen areas. Also add a light to the outside storage areas which are dark and difficult to see. Outstanding product!
😂 it's not an Artic fox!
Needs more weight on the hitch area
Thanks for the ride. Miss Leadville.
You bet
the way it is set up with all your stuff, what it the weight of the camper?
@@jimthompson2085 With a full fresh tank of water (65 gallons) it’s 7400 pounds. We’ve since upgraded to a RAM 5500.
Type of truck you guys have? Model year and trim? You have a video of it? Thanks
We’ve since upgraded to a 2022 RAM 5500 with an aluminum flatbed since we were far too over payload on the 3500. We haven’t done a video on it yet because we were waiting to finish the upgrades but should have it out soon.
All that storage, but no room for toys? Where are the boats, fly rods, skis, scuba gear and more? A 20-foot plus utility trailer would be perfect!
It’s possibly on our list. We currently flat tow our lifted Jeep and are contemplating getting a trailer to tow it AND have room for toys. Keeping miles off the expensive 37” tires would be nice!
So great info! What truck truck do I need to pull this camper? At its weight?
We started with a dually 3500 but quickly realized it was not enough to handle the payload. We’ve since upgraded to a 5500 and are much safer and within payload. Fully loaded and with a full fresh tank, we were 7400 pounds. Our ram was only rated for 5750. Our new 5500 is rated for 11,000 pounds. You would be safe right off the lot with a 1 ton dually but as soon as you start adding anything, you’ll most likely be overweight.
The only thing i do not like about the bathroom, is the comode. I would rather have a red rv toilet. And another thing, all the videos i have seen, people doing the same thing yall are doing, "BoonDocking" what ext is so important wirh laptops and desk, what y'alls occupation?. Yall say you live full tome in your camper
I agree about the toilet, however, it’s something that we need as fulltime boondockers and alleviates the need for a black tank, thus extending the amount of time we can stay off grid. Yes, we both work full-time remotely. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t need the space or desk area. Once we retire, we will most likely go even smaller with a truck camper that has no slides.
Three years later. That's GENIUS !!!
That camper is WAY too heavy for a DRW diesel 3500. I don’t care if it has airbags or timbrens. That camper is designed for a bigger truck like a 5500
Thanks, we swapped to a 5500 shortly after this video. We were grossly over payload for the 3500.
Kinda looks like a 3500. Problem is that camper weighs about 5k dry. Add everything else and you're almost 2.5k overweight on payload.
@@PublicWifi It was… we’ve since swapped it out for a 5500 for that exact reason. And yes, we’re about 7400lbs. with a full fresh tank.
What's the payload sticker weight for your 1 Ton? It seems like the camper dry weight would exceed your payload.
We’ve since swapped to a 5500. Video to come!
I absolutely love this type of camper, the layout is fantastic but they sure are expensive! 👍☘️
Yes, indeed! We were lucky enough to make a decent profit when we sold our last rig so it didn’t hurt so bad. RVs in general have gotten crazy expensive!
Awesome! You get the most amazing views from there! ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing!!
Gorgeous! I'll add it to the list!
@@mattroussey8413 The 360° views were unbelievable!!!
Very nice. Good balance of mods. What was the thing above the door on the inside? Have you thought about repurposing the black tank or the space it takes up?
Thanks! The black tank is shared by both the toilet and vanity, both in the same slide. Since the vanity is still connected to it, we decided to leave it as is. We had thought about removing the tank and just using a bucket under the sink but don’t want to make it too custom, for resale purposes. As it is, it’s easy to go back to a conventional toilet since we just capped off the water line and used a test plug in the toilet drain. Above the door was a rolling blind/valence that we removed when we installed the built in blind for the door window. Thanks for watching!
Pittsburgh?
Close, just over the border in MD. 😊
Just subscribed. Awesome video. Going to attempt to build a couple next week.
Excellent
Miss that rig! She was a beaut!
Did you have a roof mounted cellular antenna? If so, where?
Yes, we had the Poynting 7in1 mounted just behind the front cap.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes Thanks! I ended going in pantry with mine, as the cap/cabinet issue scared me :-). Thanks for always responding!!
@@brucehale6151 You’re welcome. I mounted mine there for optimum reception. It really sealed well.
Have y’all weighed your setup? That truck is likely DANGEROUSLY overloaded. Not trying to troll but rather warn y’all that you need to get a 5500 for that sized TC.
You’re right, we were way overweight. We have since swapped out to a 5500 and will have a video out soon on it.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes me too. I had an incident where one of my rear wheels fell off going 60 mph. Not a fun time. I have since also upgraded to a 5500. Way more stable!
@@WheelinwiththeWendes very cool - is that the the 5500 Chasis cab? Really like the camper you have and some of your mods eg actuators for your solar - we are considering switching from our class A back to truck and camper so very interested in your experiences regarding the mammoth - look forward to seeing your setup with the 5500. We hope to be south this winter so maybe we can connect to get a “real life” view of your rig!
@@lancesundquist7589 We’ll be doing a 2 year review very soon, also “touring” the addition of our RAM 5500 flat bed.
Love the rig. I may have missed it. But, where do you store your clothing?
On either side of the bed, in the very small wardrobe closets. We’ve learned to pare down to the minimum and buy only if we need it. We also use clear Walmart Sterlite containers stacked inside to utilize every vertical inch possible.
You have a tail dragger with that truck camper.
Not sure what you mean, other than the hitch extension. We haven’t touched yet… and we boondock 90% of the time. We also since upgraded to a 5500 and Kelderman suspension which gives us a bit more clearance.
Thats Awesome Idea
Very nice and love all of your upgrades.
