New bike is nice, looks like a good setup so far, maybe change the tires but with the 310 might not need to. It is so hard to stay with just one motorcycle I’m down to just my G310GS witch does everything off road but not so much for pavement, for sure a bigger bike would be nice for longer road trips
Funny...I ran across your channel when I was looking hard at the G310GS, but ended up just reserving an F850GS. I used to own an F800GS, then an F800GS Adventure, and I've test rode both the F850GS and GSA several times. Can't wait to get out and start exploring...hope to hit parts of the mid-Atlantic BDR as I have time!
Congratulations on your new bike. Similar to your, after a year of ownership of the G310gs , I purchased bigger adventure bike , 2016 Africa Twin. I’m keeping my G310gs for sure because I love the little bike , and I can easily loaded it up in my pick up truck and get closer to more technical roads, also is a great around town bike too. That 850 is just one of the best bikes out there, it’s the most underrated bike, people talk about every other bike being the best adventure bike, for me it is easy top 3 ADV bike out there.
Like what you have done to your bike. Makes a great all round bike I have a one year old gs 850 in anniversary colours I agree keep standard exhaust it’s sounds nice Plan to keep my bike it’s just great happy riding
Duuuuuude. You never let on that you were a UA-cam pro while we hung out at the Palmetto ADV Rally. It actually reminds me of why I love my 2017 800GS so much. What year is your GS? I see it has tubeless rims, much easier to plug a tire than patch a tube but I understand the tradeoffs. Great video Larry! Almost as good as the one of you singing Johnny Cash.
Hahaha. That was a great night. I’m hardly a pro! But I’m working on it. Switching from Mac to PC has been a struggle with my editing. My 850 is a 21. Lots of tech! I love it.
I had a F700 gs and traded it for a r9t pure. Also have an r1250rs, and a g310gs coming. All will be sporting their own SW- Motech tankbags. I've just added you to my subscribe list. Being retired I have more time to enjoy videos. Unfortunately gas prices will play into ride enjoyment this year. Still cheaper than starting the car up.!! 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
Love it, and the hat lol.. you are great on camera and very handy and smart...now you got me thinking about going bigger lol for my RTW, but I'm going to stick with the 310 gs lol, I need to avoid roos in AU then dogs and cows lol, I'm sure at least. Also I think I mentioned before deron? In stalled the abs on/ off switch on his 2021 310gs. Hey you will eventually stick with the bigger seat as you ride more.. check out west38 videos they are All on bmws and teach you a lot.
So a question, since you added the crash bars and the GSA windscreen why didn't you just get the GSA model? It holds more than twice the amount of fuel and since it looks like you enjoy long trips it would seem that the GSA would be a better fit. I just got a 2023 f850 GSA myself.
Honestly, I wanted to but my budget was tapped. And I was a little intimidated with the larger tank causing the bike to be more top heavy then the GS. That being said. If I were to do again I’d get the GSA. lol. Thanks for watching. Enjoy the new bike!!!
I'm riding my F750GS to South Dakota to the black hills September 18-22. Meeting a group of ADV riders for a fun trip. Bring your 850!? Book a room at the chief motel. We would love to see a 4th BMW show up and tip the scales in favor of BMW over the other guys.
I have an 850GS reserved, but I'm curious if you went with the standard suspension and low seat, can you stand flat footed with that setup? Trying to figure out if I need to go with the low suspension or not.
I went with the adaptive suspension and a low seat. I’m definitely no flat footed but it’s not a big deal. I will be doing the spring kit from touratech. That will bring me down 1.5in.
Unfortunately it seems to of been discontinued. The touratech one looks really similar but is also out of stock. I am confused between BMW 850 GS vs the newly launched Honda Transalp 750. I hear lot of things about BMW being unreliable and expensive to keep in terms of service and repairs. Would like to know more from an owners perspective.
I can’t speak for the Transalp 750. But my 850 has been great. I have 10,000 miles and no issues. And if you can learn to service your bike yourself it’s not expensive to maintain.
Nice accessories you've purchased for your bike. I have the same bike, a 2019 but think I would like something smaller for the dirt; it's a heavy thing to pick up and also maneuver in the garage, for an old fart like me. You probably have the perfect combo with the 310 or maybe the Husqvarna 701 would do both, not sure. Enjoyed the video, thanks.
Nice mods, fall protection for the bike is a must. I've been on the fence about getting a 310 or 850 and now I've even more unsure what to do. Lol. I have a klr650 and tw200 right now . Beef Jerky or small beef sticks when traveling.
Hey larry does your rear (and also if you have a front) wheel lift fit the 850 and 310? I have a 310 my pops has the 850 and I want to get something universal thatll fit both our bikes.
Awesome mods. The bike look sick. Thanks
Another great looking bike! Now let’s get it dirty.
Great video and awesome mods! Congrats 🙌
Thanks for watching!
Anorher great video! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing your new adventures.

@@ADVLARRY So I take it you’re not using DaVinci Resolve to edit your videos?
@@spaztech I am. And I hate it. I got so use to i movie that it was so easy to pump out edits. I just need to use DR more and I’ll get it.
Great bike, great job

There’s nothing more I’d rather do. Be unfortunately I own a swimming pool company that has me chained down until November. Have fun sounds awesome!
Love it!👍

Nice story bro from gs310 to 850 🙏
Thanks brother.
@@ADVLARRY i m happy / unhappy with my gs310 now....when money comes around gonna get gs850...cheers to you🙏

Thanks for the video. I'm hoping to buy the 850GSA this year. And I live in NH so I will be buying mine from Max's too - their Northampton NH store.
You’ll love it…its been a lot of fun

It’s hard for me too. I find myself on the 310 a lot more.
Can you please tell what type and where did you get windshield?
That is the oem bmw 850GSA windscreen. You have to get it from BMW directly. I’ve seen them upgraded to a MADSTAD windscreen that I really love.
What's your GPS NAV of choice on the 850?
@@ChuckMahon I use the garmin zumo xt on both bikes.

Ever have watermelon jerky? It’s actually pretty good.
i was in the same boat... i went with the 850gsa lol. im a bigger guy so the 310 wasnt gonna last long with me so i skipped it
Wow its a big bike, how do you find the wind and weather protection?
Its windy. Haha. I don’t have much to compare it to but it’s better then my gs310 for sure.
Did you say that is the gsa front screen ?
Correct. I since then switched to the MADSTAD windscreen.
Have to admit I’m a little sad. Just bought my 310 and already it’s out of date with yi it channel 😂
Oh come on now. I love my 310. And to be honest if I had to get through some sketchy terrain I’d rather be on the 310.
Hey brother Larry, all the money I have made in 55 years, the most went to women and motorcycles... The rest I just wasted😁😁👍👍🏍🏍😍😍
Amen brother!
My favorite riding snack is butter fingers
Those are my second!!!!
Nice bike I’m torn between BMW F850 GS and Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro . Leaning to F 850 after running across your video I did subscribe
It’s a great bike. I have 3k on it. No regrets!!
The warranty really has me set on a BMW.
What brand is the windscreen?
Puig
I’m sorry. It’s the GSA windscreen. Not the puig
what kinda riding boots are those?
Forma adventure

They use different sizes.
love your bike, I think I like your bike over the 1250 GSA which is too big and I'm nit ready for yet Your 850 looks insane I love it!
Thank you!! I’m in love with it. I also have the 310gs which is even more fun in the trails. The 1250 is amazing but you’re right.
Love it! 👍👍👍
Thanks Matt!
