- The official Factorio trailer for 2016
This trailer is outdated, we have a new trailer for 2020: • Factorio - Trailer 2020
Homepage (free demo / buy the game): www.factorio.com.
Steampage: store.steampowered.com/app/427...
Video: The Factorio team.
Music & Sound: Daniel James Taylor (danieljamestaylor.co.uk/)
This trailer is based on a real game of about 12 hours. The map has been extended and polished in the in-game map editor. All the actions, movement and logic in general in the trailer are controlled by the game native modding system (Lua scripting).
This trailer is an improved version of the original 2014 trailer: • Factorio - Trailer 2014 - Ігри
Imagine being an alien and looking down upon this planet and going "Wow there are so many satellites and machines, this civilization must be so advanced" and it's just one guy
that eats fish raw and breathes co2
Yea XD
Well considering he started off by crashlanding an ostensibly advanced spaceship on the planet, I'd say this kind of level of engineering is to be expected.
Егор Грибенюк co2? That’s carbon dioxide
@@armouredraptor9610 congrats, that's the joke
This trailer explains what this game is about without uttering a single word, good job
I love to watch this : D
But what is the game about?
Guess what the 0.15 trailer will look like
i would say its a sandbox building game. its about making a factory obviously and just beeing creative i think. How u can operate and handle things is just amazing in the game aswell, but if u want it exactly check wikipedia :P
The Idea Blows my mind : D
Is it just me or does it seem that when a trailer uses actual gameplay, it is usually better
the game has to be good first 8)
it is indeed usually like that becouse if they show an actual in-game fotage, that means they don't have any reasons to hide his game behind a cinematic like... well, every damn AAA game
its actual gameplay, its an actual world, it's events and train-positions and the like kinda manipulated by scripting, as with the biter attack
but other than that, that world is 100% playable, i think it's even available somewhere to download
Well, they did mess with a bit, those copper furnaces in the beginning were all running and trying to take more ore, so I suspect that the furnaces simply always had the on animation, this likely wasn't pure gameplay, but it was damn close.
Furnaces reload ore before being empty, they can have up to 50 ore or 100 plates placed in them. Though inserters wont fully fill them up
i just realized how dangerous this factory is. Like how many times has this guy been hit by his trains
That's the real reason to get power armor and a bunch of shield generators; so you can accidentally get smacked by a train, and just walk it off.
Fusilier There have been too many funny moments with my friends. Most of them were because of trains.
My cousin and I built a train system and every time we play he always dies to the train at least once, and it's funny every time. :D
I got hit by trains so many times that I took the time to make a railway flashing warning lights and bells on each of my factory's stops...
yes, the factorio here is made out of factorio.
I used to have a family
Now I have a Factory
Their bones really boosted the efficiency of the coal miners! Family well-spent
good enough
A family of bots
*Umm... good enough I guess...?*
Well you think cost factory?
*But game this underrate.*
no trailer has made me want to play a game so much as this one, brilliant job
Agreed
totally agreed brother nerd :)
yeah that trailer man... Awesome! They made such a good job, plus: that music fits perfectly with the video
It's a bloody good trailer!! (although it probably takes weeks and weeks of gameplay to actually be in such a bezerk scenario..) haha
I bought the game after watching this trailer!
For some weird reason, the metallic clunk at the end is the most satisfying thing I've ever heard.
Yeah, sounds solid. A pleasant sound.
neurohop maybe interest upi
*CLUNK!*

welcome to man at arms reforged!
Today we're going to be building a conveyor belt from the game Factorio!

+xisumavoid Can you do another lets play of factorio when it comes out?
Oh, X. Could you maybe sometime do a playthrough of Factorio? I would love it! (if you ever see this that is)
@@vinskileton153 Interestingly enough, Xisuma already has 2 playthoughs of Factorio! Although unfinished, still a good watch!
Can't wait for hermitcraft season 7
This is the only trailer that has ever single-handedly convinced me to buy a game. A $20 well spent!
It fucking delivers!
Same for me ... :)
And months later ... still money well spent. If i divide fun by money, its basically free game :)
Yep. This is the only game with a good trailer.
Its € 25 now
Plus u saved 10 , its 30 now
This game is addiction in digital form.
Not for nothing are there user reviews on Steam calling it "Cracktorio".
No, Stardew Valley still takes that title, but this is a VERY close second.
@@parallax7789 I mean , stardew valley is mostly walking , and the other bit is actuak gameplay , but it's still good
The Factory must grow.
Me playing civ5: wow when did the sun go down? This game is makes time pass so fast.
Me playing factorio: what year is it?
Day 1 : I have a Automated Science 1 Research Line!
Day 2 : Oil!
One Week Break later
Day 3 of gameplay : What the fuck, how the hell does this shit work?
Day 4 : Ran over by train.
ditto except train
For me it's always:
Day 1 : Finally, over 1m Iron in storage, I'll never run out!
Day 2 : Finally, over 10k plastic in storage, I'll never run out!
Day 3 : Were my storage chests always empty?
Day 3.2 : Wait, why are those robots taking iron and plastic to my train going into the trash dump, dammit!
*runs out*
day 2: I hate you, trees
Good news: the latest version has a nuclear missile, to kill a whole forest in a single go.
Covid19 - Please stay home
Me: - these quarantine period is not enough to conquer this alien species..
I like trains.
+omega Then you'll like this. I have put hundreds of hours more into Factorio than any other game (except KSP)!
***** Everything is always a reference to something. It's impossible to keep up, lol!
BOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!
I was just making a funny statement. And yes I have played *Industrie Gigant* and *OpenTTD* a lot. :)
+omega actually that reference will 1 day really happen in factorio (as seen with the biters and spitters). it happened to me 10+ times already
Before playing: Man that looks insane, wonder if I'll ever make something like that!
After playing: Thats cute.
I’m extremely new to this game so I hope this becomes relatable 😆
Four years of hard work in this game.

You know what Factorio needs, more than anything?
An upgrade to the car where you can put giant saw blades on the front of it, just like the Mach 5 has in Speed Racer, so you cna drive around without running into all the goddamn TREES!!
The Tanks Tech solves that.
@@generic9732 but it's too slow
@@generic9732 im dealing with trees with nuclear missiles
So, Indiana Jones Amazon Forest scene?
Solution:
1. shoot two lines of trees at each side of the intended path
2. *FLAMETHROWER OF DEATH*
3. safe passage
I just love how this trailer works so well, and is entirely filmed in-game. I also love how if you've played the game and look closely, you can see al the liberties you took in setting it up, like how the turrets were pre-damaged so they'd explode really quickly, and how the area with the biters had way too much of a variety of materials in way too low quantity for it to be normal.
Eh, look back on it now it's mainly only stone, so I guess that point is moot. (Still love the health bars on the turrets though)
...why do I keep coming back to this trailer? I already own the game...
This is really.... honestly... one of the best games i've ever played!!! Good job guys!
Buy it if you want to unlock real-life time traveling (sadly ... future only ... but it is a start)
10/7 would recommend again
This is not proven
Can confirm. Bought the game. am currently traveling one second into the future every second.
+Natalie Obman something is wrong with yours. I'm traveling 3 seconds into the future every second while playing factorio.
I'm traveling at 10 seconds a second whenever _I_ play Factorio. Pls help.
Factorio connects time to an arithmetic combinator, divides it by 10 and then inserts it into an electric furnace.
Such a well storyboarded trailer! Excellent progression of narrative through the use of visuals and music! This should be one of those examples a professor uses in a college media class when discussing the art of storytelling and telling a story in the medium you're using.
If this was on greenlight and Jim Sterling saw this, I'm sure he would've featured this on his greenlight good stuff series! This Trailer is simply sublime!
Oh, Factorio passed Greenlight long ago. Possibly before I even heard of the game. Like you, I would definitely recommend this as an example of how you should go about making a trailer.
Brilliant trailer, convinced me to buy the game no questions asked with no regret. Now they just need s to fade in this music the closer you get to your factories.
They need to combine this game and Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress into one massive unholy abomination.
If people are joking that they are losing their life after this game... I don't want to know what this abomination will do... It will be an actual threat do society as we know it... the players will become mastermind engineers/survivors.
All you need to do now is sprinkle a little bit of loot crate gambling in and add a syringe full of heroin.
@@callumcook3276 -- The heroin is redundant, add more logistics robots.
Maybe a little kenshi
DF/Factorio/Rimworld could all use a "first person view" mode for that added immersion
WARNING!! THIS GAME WILL COST YOU YOUR JOB, YOUR SOCIAL LIFE, AND YOUR PHYSICAL STRENGTH TO MOVE AWAY FROM YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN.

Underrated game of the daceade
It's not underrated... this game is one of the top rated games on Steam. And by 'one of the top' I mean 'top ten', right up there with some of the best games released the the past decade.

This is a great game, but it's not 'underrated'. It's very accurately rated 'awesome'.
Factorio is number 3 right now :D
Sounds underrated. Should be #1 of all time.
It's #2 right now, just behind Portal 2. Closing in...
Nier Automota is also up there.

+Cowfaic'd Realm And if you have played the game, you start to notice lots of subtle things, like the crashed ship at the start, still running coal-powered drills, ammo being produced and fed to the turrets, system that unloads the train and the sorts out the content...
When I recommend Factorio to a friend, I send this video, I watch it again with an evil smile on my face...
Great game for those that find joy in improving a system of their own make.
This is one of those rare trailers that really captures the spirit of the game and makes me want to buy it.
I love the music with the oh no the biters are coming and then suddenly changes when the trains kill them to 'Anyway, more automation' THE FACTORY MUST GROW
I never thought I'd like this game, it's just not up my alley normally. But I watched a "beginner's guide" series on youtube, all 18 hours of them or so and bought the game. I could have went for the demo first, but I took a risk and just bought it. So that happened 6 days ago, and I have 56 hours of play time on the clock. I made a horrible first factory, but I had fun, that was the key. I played on default first, and now I'm fiddling with different settings. Point I want to make is that the game's difficulty curve is probably the best one I've ever enjoyed ever. It starts off pretty easy, albeit a bit slow. And in the mid-game is where it's the hardest, where you need to balance your time on production, your defenses, your choices of technologies, and how to build the factory in the first place. Finally, it all culminates as a reward for your hard work in an easier end game. You know what you're doing, you set a routine, you are familiar with the area, you are competant (enough), and you have loads of awesome fun goodies to mess around with. I cannot express how amazing it is to drive a tank that is powered by rocket fuel, shoots lasers from your power armor, shoots depleted uranium explosive shells, throwing grenades out the window, and running bugs over for good measure. This is what Fallout 4 should have been. You guys earned every single penny I paid with just one single freeplay game. (I finished the campaign too, but it could use some work)

A game has truly transcended when the gameplay trailer from 2016 was updated in 2020 with zero changes gameplay wise but completely visually overhauled, and both continue to accurately and confidently describe the game 3 years after that. Thank you for the dedication, wube.

Fantastic trailer! I love that you actually synced the trailer to the music. It something that I rarely see on many theatrical videos, but it improves the quality and the impact more than you would think. Overall a great game, great trailer, great company!
As others have said, I love how simplistic yet effective this is. No speaking, on-screen text, or really any noticeable editing at all; just a factory, and a Lua script to manage the recording
Very great trailer. I'm pround of you, guys!
A great incremental game :)

This is the only trailer that I rewatch for fun.
I was looking through a list of games to choose one to buy with money i got for Christmas and I have to say, out of a list of almost 50 games I was interested in, this got the top pick. You had me when the trains showed up. Cant wait to play
One question though: how are the worlds generated? are they infinite or do they have a limit and if limited size, how big can they be?
The worlds are infinite by default (you can ask for a specific size, or even an infinite "ruban") so you have infinite (potential) resources, you just have to eliminate the biters on the path to them and use trains to get back the resources from your outposts.
Factorio is an amazing game, you won't regret it ! :)

Fan fact: I didn’t search for this video. What about you?
This trailer got referenced in Mark Browns latest game design video about game trailers (a little mention at the end). I hadn't seen it before, and gotta say this trailer's concept is great, following the production in a single shot and showing all the aspects of the game that way is very clever. I'm a fan of Factorio anyway but as a new player this trailer would certainly capture my attention, good stuff!
