Wow, I just bought a new M3 and have been looking into PPF but was held back by the costs and sceptoc and wondering if this was one of those ridiculous expensive things where carshops would just be earning tons on ignorant people like me, but after seeing this video I totally understand why it is expensive as it is and have way more repsect for the people (both pros and diy'ers) that are able to do this. Lot of skills coming at play.
Phenomenal work. I consider myself very handy at DIY stuff. I’ve done DIY front PPF for myself and brother in law on our Tesla Ys and both cars resulted in hundreds of bubbles and several black tiny debris under film 😂😂😂.
It's like a giant one of those old screen protectors they used to put on your phone. They put them on the same way. Can you get a tougher one like an Otter Box for your Tesla? lol

What if you already have a little bit of paint scratches before visiting ceramic coating shop and what if your car is dirty? Will they repair the paint and wash it before applying?

I polished my car before brining it in for ppf. I did not drive the car for the first week. After adding the ppf, I ceramic coated the entire car and ppf.
I will try to shoot a shots on the details and overall look after installed. Honestly I can tell the difference if you look at the whole car. The biggest difference is when I wash the car which I just recently did which was a big different when I sprayed water on the surface and try to wash it with Zero effort on the front ppf section compared to the rest of the car.
be honest, i have the same doubt. and this only last a couple years if you want to keep looking good. with whatever damages on the road, 2000 is probably enough to repaint or even get a new bumper... DIY is probably fine with couple nDIY is probably fine with couple hundred. unless car worth 10x the price, no to me.
@@sirismile2010 DIY will cost anywhere from $400 to $1200 for the full front plus about 8 hours for the average Joe, and you would want to get a good film for about $600 on the low end.
I have no clue what manhours cost in the US, but the total amount of labor this project seems to cost doesn't I think the prices are justified. I have 2 left hands and when I need a plumber or handyman to fix something at my house, I know it will cost me 10x more than when I would have fixed it myself, but I pay for what has took him years to learn.

If your shop didn't take off the bumper, mirrors, side cameras, they're not doing a great job. You'll need to tuck the film behind the fenders to avoid having dirt buildup later on.
@@Passions funny cuz my 3 and Y are fully ppf and they removed the bumper, flares, cameras, fender all off to wrap the edges under it. Then put it back and it’s identical to how it came.
Got my Model Y few days ago and will be getting the whole front end PPF with ceramic top coating with 10 yr warranty both for $1600 including edges full front bumper, hood, fenders, headlights, fog lights, mirror caps. windshield pillars and rockers.
@@ddaly8492 Sacramento but got that done in Roseville which is nearby. Note that the PPF came coated with ceramic as per the installer. Only other exterior modification I did was to install mudguards/flaps from Temai.
Hmmm...no paint correction or anything, just a clay bar??? Yeah, that isn't good. A proper paint correction should be done. Now the surface is ready for PPF. Otherwise, clay bar isn't going to fix all the other issues that come from the factory with the paint. Anyway...Xpel product is good stuff. Have their XR Plus Windows Tint all around.
You mean ceramic coating on top of your wrap? Wrapping Model Y is about $3k-$5k depending on where and ceramic coating would be around $1k-2k. It’s about $6k to PPF the whole car with stealth PPF. PPF protect your paint it has thicker material than wrap. Wrap is just vinyl it doesn’t protect your paint much and sometime when you remove it. It will residue which will be hard to remove. Also PPF last longer than wrap.
@@piscessaga I would just do front bumper and hood since already wrapping the car. I’m not sure if you could apply PPF over wrap. Like I mentioned before PPF last longer than wrap if you apply PPF over the vinyl wrap and when you remove vinyl wrap then you removing PPF too.

My concern is the front end will look a lot more shiny than the rest of the vehicle. It would be nice to see a full view to compare.

You mean ceramic coating on top of your wrap? Wrapping Model Y is about $3k-$5k depending on where and ceramic coating would be around $1k-2k. It’s about $6k to PPF the whole car with stealth PPF. Matrix headlights are in the Performance and all newer 2023 Model Y from Fremont.
