I have a guitar background, but this channel inspired me to take up piano improvisation. This approach, where creating music is an active craft rather than a consequence of geometry and principles, makes music feel exciting to me again. These videos help fuel my motivation even though I'm only a few weeks in and I'm only drilling very simple exercises. I'm about 10 pages into Mortenson's Guide to Historic Improvisation, taking care to gain fluidity with transposing everything to every key.
Not a fan of improv books... the just age too quick these days, I think that whole Partimento/Improv thing is still somewhat in a state of methodical developement especially in regard to different styles etc.
Liebe Lehrer, as always I remain fond of your musical sharing's/adventures...from one century to another (and my own reading/studying of course) and through the dynamic presentations you create, important nuances shine through as one ping pongs. Speaking of which; are you able to refer me to any text's regarding the treatment of meter & notes at any time during the common practice period or otherwise? I depart in this from Heinchen's 3rd Chapter of his Grundliche Anweisung. Well Wishes, Many thanks!
It was Handel's Passacaglia in G Minor. That version came from the film God Rot Tunbridge Wells where they portray the harpsichord duel between Handel and Domenico Scarlatti.

Great! That's so nice to hear!
That was a lovely presentation! The level 2 exercise was a treat, and I'm now interested in hearing it on 18th-century fortepiano. 🤭
