Discard a card but you can’t just throw away a land (discard 2+ or forced to discard your good card while you’ve got a land to pitch always feels bad, but then when you are the one playing discard it feels bad when they can just dump a land). The damage bandits talent does is more restrictive and wont win for 10 turns unless you’ve put in some work. Final mode is really good for helping you stay in control, but you still have to get their first.

Honestly, iI thought about that too, but I think there are more versatile or less mana intensive options that could take that slot. A body is cool, until you realize that malicious eclipse is more relevant in that slot with all the aggro. I would sideboard it for control matchups.
3 mana alone kills it, but then you still have to ensure opponent lost life to best use it too. Maybe if it were a 2 mana 2/2 body, but we didnt get to pick the discard, or 2 mana with optional pay 1 at etb to be able to choose the discard. Think about other 3 mana cards in discard decks that the lizard competes against. Cards like Phyrexian Arena, Preacher, and of course Lili herself, so wouldnt you rather play any of that instead? Discard is no way *more* toxic than counterspells, boardwipes or mana cheating, there I said it. Now that we've established neither are fundementally 'ok' can we go back to when MTG actually felt like you were having a wizard battle instead of seeing who can make who play the least.
@@nbnerd2283 When Richard Garfield was sitting on the couch one day and came up with the idea of 'Wizard battles but it's a card game'. After that it was all down hill.
Yep, if I see two discard cards in a row I just scoop and go find an opponent who's actually fun to play against. I'm convinced the reason you see them mainly online and not IRL is because it's harder to slap people over the internet.
I mean how do you fix the mono-red problem of play all the burn all the small creatures... stop printing them? Make big red viable again? Big uncounterable burn cards instead of small 1 mana 2 dmg cards, play a 5 mana 6 dmg card prints or something. It's just so braindead gameplay, do your best to stop me because I don't care I'm sending everything face every time and the cards help me send it all face with zero thought. It's boring, it's annoying and it's 70% of the meta.
Frankly I agree it is so annoying that Mano red players can win without using their brain. Then they will defend it by saying control made them this way. This is a lie there are so many lands that protect creatures and a good amount of red cards that have the ability can't be countered.
@@AquaDogYT I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Grill hasn't been in the meda for forever. Right now mono red and Boros take over everything. And saying you should just "build your deck to beat agro" is Bs because even if I added a crap ton of removal I still have to get lucky to draw it.
Modern design of mtg cards sucks. Midrange does not exist. If you don't play the greediest mono red you get clowned by control. That's why i stick to pauper and commander lately
Against anything, discard is just annoying, not good. It gets a bad reputation because an early duress can blow your strategy or make a good hand bad. And in a completive deck might be the little advantage lead to win. But discard focused decks usually win out of a early frustrated concede, they bring so many discard that they don't have any good way to close the game, even if they empty your hand, just stay in the game, you'll draw your useful cards while they keep drawing useless discards against your empty hand.
@@myr_wlk698 Oh yeah, i don't hate Discard because i can't beat it, I hate discard because Its miserable to decide on sticking to a hand only to have it be butchered on T1 without any ability to interact. Similar to how annoying it is to go up against aggro on the draw and you have two tap lands. Give me "free" (alt cost) counterspells and I'll consider it fair. I dont care if im right or wrong, I don't enjoy playing against it so i scoop. Problem is that its so frequent now that ranking up and tilt-scooping is gonna be tough. That said its not really an inherent issue in discard decks as much as it is how low cost the meta is.

Whenever Liliana rotates out, it will be a good day for MTG.
You need one or two Season of Loss for getting around wide boards...
41:25 ironic considering the deck you are playing
This what I hate about Arena. People play the same shit and then if they don't the match maker seems to like to pair you against the same other shit.
Net-decking ruined Arena, but in Ranked I get it. In casual games I'll just scoop to mono black or red and move on. Not worth getting annoyed with and yeah the match maker certainly seems to have specific MMR things it runs to make sure you get very similar match ups each game.
43:22 The opponent went first wtf?
Weird to hate a deck like this considering control decks do the same thing. Disrupt opponent. Get card advantage. Grind out win. It’s the same formula.
You must know thy enemy, to defeat thy enemy.
God, i despise this deck with every fiber in my being.
Which card?
you problably not gonna see this but if you see i have a 250 card standard deck that i got mythic with last season and now with the changes i am walking on a 60 % wr witch is not bad can you look and see how we can make the deck better
Im sorry but 8:50 made me laugh so hard.
I don't like red aggro but i also hate discard, even if my green decks do well against it.
I've come to hate mono black discard more than mono red aggro
Lots of people honestly hate mono black more then red in general I've noticed.
THAT! Since Bloomburrow, the shuffler seems extra broken. 12 lands in a row... completely normal
27:00 spoilers for Space Jam
14:25 me when I meet Liliana
It’s a disgusting meta out of mono red, rakdos or gruul splash, discard, counter everything uw control and mono black discard. The most fair deck seems to be golgari, until they combo kill you.
80% of players are playing lockdown in bo1 in my games so loran is a solid option
Game against sigurime: shuffler is fine
how do you get to be on the play so often you skipping games?
Probably, I would wager he cuts out 4-5 games per session where he outright loses or goes 2nd and scoops.
Audio seem off to anyone else?
mono black landfall?
Discard is no way *more* toxic than counterspells, boardwipes or mana cheating, there I said it.
Now that we've established neither are fundementally 'ok' can we go back to when MTG actually felt like you were having a wizard battle instead of seeing who can make who play the least.
when was that?
@@nbnerd2283 When Richard Garfield was sitting on the couch one day and came up with the idea of 'Wizard battles but it's a card game'. After that it was all down hill.
Discard is card negative but it triggers some
All i get os 80% of games a mirrors.
10 games played
8 mirror matches
2 mono red
You look defeated in this video here CGB. You okay bro?
Yep, if I see two discard cards in a row I just scoop and go find an opponent who's actually fun to play against. I'm convinced the reason you see them mainly online and not IRL is because it's harder to slap people over the internet.
The salt is real with this one
And that's why you'll never grow as a player. Stop playing Bo1 if you can't handle decks that only work when you can't sideboard to beat them.
I waiting for some mono blue action
THIS CARD
Hate it more like mono red...?
20% of the meta, 10% rakdos fling and 10% gruul prowess. just. build ur deck to pass the aggro test or to be bo3 ima be real
@@amamam95 golgari midrange exists and it is very good against mono red
What a difficult deck to play.
Discard deck? Whoopie
maybe make some content with the largest standand deck
Thats the only way I lose at this game is mana flood or mana screwed, I HATE the shuffler.
lol I hate both of these color combos, but I agree somehow.
This deck actually lose against any deck with a good amount of card draw
Disagree. Aclazotz and virtue are card advantage. I prefer running this deck with a couple phyrexian arenas, but the premise is sound.
Make room for Sheoldred...
Say what you want, but discard is my most favorite play type, and now its finally some what descent.
Who else didn't get the "This card" / "Discard" pun until *after* they clicked the video and CGB said it out loud, despite the marquee card in the thumbnail being Liliana of the Veil?
