      Asking for subs and likes is like an art. Sometimes people are fine with it, sometimes they just get so angry they close the video. It is all about when and how you say it. If you are in the middle of a video and just say that if you are enjoying this video pls like and subscribe, the viewers won't get that annoyed and sometimes might decide to actually do that. On the other hand if you're like "Like and subscribe now or this spider will be in your bed" , the viewers will most likely close the video and leave a bunch of hate comments.

    A really smart thing about the seaplane design is that if you control from the docking port on the top and click radial out, it makes you craft automatically level.

  • @iainbagnall4825
    @iainbagnall4825 4 роки тому +3

    @Matt Lowne - when flying in vtol mode, use control from here on your upwards facing docking port to set your viewpoint straight up and then use SAS hold radial and SAS will hold the vtol in directly vertical position for you, then just make small left/right/backwards/forwards angle adjustments to fine tune your landing. On my vtols I set the control from here and the thrust vector pivot controls all on one action group so i can toggle quickly into vtol mode.

    about the fuel transfer glitch, i dont know how the game exactly handles fuel transfer, but i therorize that it may do with the game maybe detecting one of the fuel tanks as not being one when transfering fuel.

    Hey Matt, if you feel like the commentary is getting repetitive, you don’t have to talk about the mission. We’ve heard it before and if we haven’t we can check out the earlier videos.
    Instead, you should fill up the first half of the mission with just talking about whatever you want to talk about and then returning to commentary on the mission itself when you enter Laythe Orbit. You kind of already did this today by talking about UA-cam and such, but really it can just be whatever. You’re an interesting person to listen to, and I’d hate to see you be go through the same motions every episode.
    And hey, even if the commentary ends up being a massive failure, most people just like looking at the pretty spaceship anyway, so it can’t be that bad.

    I had a lot of fun building a vtol plane and figuring all that stuff out. i think i had a vertical mode that put the engines up, gear down, and changed the prop angle. then a low speed mode which lowered the engines, adjusted the props a bit, and turned off the reaction wheels. then high speed mode that cut the limits of the control surfaces and adjusted the prop further. worked out really well. also it flew indefinitely on solar as long as the sun was up.

    10:05: Matt, the reason you couldn't transfer fuel is due to a bug in the game. (Fuel Transfer Bug)
    A quick work around is to right-click the source tank, then the receiving tank, then the source tank again, and then finally ALT-right click the receiving tank. (unfortunately it will mean you'll have to move fuel from one tank at a time)
    I've personally been having this problem ever since I've set up mining operations on Mun & Minmus, and it's apparently a well known, and long-lived bug.
    Hope this helps, love your videos!

    A lot of your issues with altitude loss when switching from vertical to horizontal flight would be resolved by greatly limiting the speed at which that wing hinge can close, you want to be moving forwards as the wing geometry begins to change.

    For better vertical landig - I would suggest a probe core attached to the wing, so that when selected "control from here" it points in the direction of thrust. Then you can just select SAS: Surface-Radial Out and the thrust will be pure vertical. Then you can kill your lateral velocity more precise - ASDW will now behave nearly the same way as using RCS to translate when docking.
    Second improvement would be to set the hinge to 45deg in hangar. Then you would have option to bind action key to move the hinge to this preset position and use it not only for moving over water but also for slightly smoother vertical to horizontal flight transition.

    Tip for getting hinges to not flop around at high speed without having to use docking port: reduce damping to 0 in hinge and toggle the servo lock. You can go as fast as you want like that, even when speeding up time.

    I love the fact that there's a bottom hatch just in case there's a need for emergency evacuation during flight, and that was only there because of the part you decided to use has hatches on both sides. Also, the construction and launch of the submersible base is missing from the Life on Laythe playlist
