Elizabeth Hay was born in October 1951 in Ontario, Canada. In 1974, she moved to Yellowknife and worked for ten years as a radio broadcaster for CBC Radio (hence her novel "Late Nights On Air", 2007 which won her Canada*s most prestigious literary award, the Scotiabank Giller Prize).
Like her character Nan in "His Whole Life", she has also spent some years in New York. Her newest "Snow Road Station" (2023) is her sixth novel.
