  • Hello.
    Join me for a little " tickle" around the North Staffs countryside as my mind wanders off to a job I had when I was young. I discuss adjusting the rear shock absorbers and talk about the heel and toe shifter.
    Private schools and the dinosaurs in Alton.
    I welcome your pictures, send them with a brief description to.

    You’re dead right about time, where did it go? When I look at the old bloke in the mirror each morning, I’ve no idea who he is, in my head I’m still seventeen! Cracking ride, keep them coming mate.

    If you start your bike and ride away within 30 seconds, you probably won't get the engine management light problem. If you start your bike from cold, then leave it idling for five minutes to warm up before you ride away, you might just suffer the EML problem. Tip: set off soon after you start the engine.

    Morning Keith.
    Got the morning off work today to do a spot of plumbing at home but watching your video instead so probably gonna be in trouble when the missus gets in and it's not finished 😂😂😂😂 great video and I will give them relays a good clean out to see if that cures my intermittent EML light issues. Go steady 👍🏽
    Kind regards Matt.

      Bonjour.
      Work? Don't get swearing at me!
      I haven't had issues with warning lights ( yet) touch wood. So haven't looked but I have seen others talk about some sort of grease or gunk on/in them, presumably for waterproofing?
      Apparently it causes issues.
      Enjoy your plumbing👍

    Heal/toe shifter came standard on my Meteor. I wouldn't part with mine either. Adjusted my shocks 2 clicks which did soften the ride. I adjust them back if/when I carry a pillion. Your bike seems to power up the hills quite well. Changes likely made some improvement...

    • @shottostravels
      @shottostravels  2 місяці тому

      Hi Mate, correct me if Im wrong but the original heel /Toe on the Meteor is a bit " flimsy" isn't it.
      But yes, I love it.
      The bikes running sweet, I think it's great and the decat pipe and DNA filter is a success.
      I don't need or want the extra noise from a new silencer though.
      I'm a happy chap.👍
      Ride safe.

      Heel / toe shifter is something that put me off Meteor, left ankle is probably not as flexible as it should be

  • @petejones1957
    @petejones1957 2 місяці тому

    Nice ride Keith, love the anecdotes. Heel and toe shifters, definitely the "marmite factor" before the Classic was announced, I had a test tide on a Meteor, which of course has one, didn't really like the Meteor, so decided not to get back into biking at 74! However, when the Classic was announced all that changed, and put down a deposit on one 4 months before they "landed" on UK shores.
    As with most Classics, (then) the shift lever was set way too low, and you couldn't get your boot under it. Anyway, sent off ti India for a heel and toe shifter, long before they were available here, and absolutely hated it, couldn't wait to get rid!
    As for being a miserable old git, guilty! probably always have been!! Take care, pic on the way!

      I Told you, heel and toe shifters are brill, and I'm never wrong??
      You give up too soon!
      Bet you don't like Varifocals either😉
      Just ask my Mrs😉
      You haven't always been miserable and you're not now, it's just how life leaves you. And me.
      It's all par for the course mate, keep getting out on that bike when the sun shines. Keeps us going.
      Take care and don't forget my photo, looking forward to it.

    Hi Keith, Great video, My shocks came set at the softest setting, I'm about 210 and it is fine, I am thinking I will step them up to the mid point when I do the 300 mile service as I'll be able to go just a little faster. It is coming up soon. T-Rex! Great! I always look forward to your new videos, I'll get you some recent pics soon. I don't have any good video equipment ..... yet🤔. Keep them coming, and the rubber side down.

      Thanks Wally, I hope it's warming up a bit now, although as I'm speaking it's Hailing outside here.
      Are you going to do the service or are you taking it to your local dealer? I did my own, but the dealer told me it's invalidated my Warranty now🤔
      I do have quite a good relationship with them though, they let me do a vlog ( the next one on Sunday) on the new Himalayan yesterday so I don't think they'll leave me stranded if something goes wrong.
      Take care mate, I'm beginning to think of you as my go to American friend.😉

      @@shottostravels I am planning on doing my own. I do most of the service on my other bikes. One of the reasons I bought the Classic 350 was simple to maintain. I bought the supplies from Hitchcock's. My dealer told me when I bought it that it shouldn't be a problem as long as I document it, they would help support since i was buying from them out of state. Their customer reviews were great and the purchase was easy and reasonable even with shipping. They are several states away as the local dealer couldn't get a Bronze Chrome model. We'll see how it goes, but I hope to never need the warranty anyway. It is warming up, I'm only 40 mile away from the service. Take care, it is neat to have a friend so far away!

    • @shottostravels
      @shottostravels  2 місяці тому +1

      @wallybuettner Indeed it is. I love to know where people are from, I guess it's the wonder of the internet. It brings people together who have a common interest like us with our humble little bikes.
      I have got to know the service manager at my local dealer and am pretty certain that in the event of a warranty claim he would look after me despite me servicing it. But he says, and they have sold a lot of them, don't worry, it won't go wrong anyway. Touch wood ( do you use that expression,?)
      They must be pretty confident in it to offer a 3 year warranty in the first place.
      Hitchcocks must do well, it seems to be the go-to place for RE stuff in the world.
      It's about 40 miles from me in Birmingham, I might have a ride down there one day If I need anything and have a look.
      I've been to the US twice, did two fly/ drive holidays, once to the West Coast and once to New England, a few years ago now and absolutely loved it. It's funny how you can get an idea of a place when watching TV, I remember before we traveled that my wife was quite worried that she might get shot!
      I don't think we saw a gun, on the street at least, oh, maybe on a policeman. And that's really strange if you're from the UK.
      👍
