Working on a mix and soothe2 wasn’t getting the job done. Was so confused and your video came right on to me to remind me of this technique. On a deadline so you just saved my *ss.
Very well explained. Thank you, David!
You are name dropped by long time underground electronic music producers as the channel on UA-cam to follow for mixing knowledge.
They ain't lying. Thank you for everything bro.
Thank you!
This is definitely one of the top channels to follow...This and a few others have some awesome tips that just get right to the heart of everything and cut the BS. Another solid video.
5:57 this is a very interesting rule “ to focus on the abscence of the effect when it is mute, not on hearing the effect”, principally for reverb
It's an advanced technique that you're teaching with details. Thank you for this.
Videos like this are my favorites! Thank you David 🤘
Great stuff as usual! You shared so much in a 20 minutes video that I feel like I watched a 1 hour lecture about reverbs! Thank you!
Amazing David. Thank you for the super clear, intelligent tutorials.
Funny how this came out just as I was mixing something. Gonna come in handy!
Dude friggin' excellent. This was one that went straight to my permanent memory. Really helpful. Thank you, indeed.
this is absolutely huge man. you've demistified questions I've had for years now xD thank you so much
Great video David! Love your style how you explain everything.
David! you are awesome! Your attention to detail
is super inspiring and instructive! Thank Yooooou!
Seriously the most practical/useful reverb tutorial I've seen. Thank you!
Wow the song is so beautiful, I can't wait for more music from you guys! Bella is a superstar
Superb explanations of WHY you make your mixing decisions. Great stuff. Thank you!
Thank you David, great video. Great detailed explanation.
I appreciate your dedication to making videos and sharing knowledge. I'm a long time follower but I have never interacted with your channel. I'm quite advanced in my own production skills but I constantly watch your videos for reinforcement of concepts, methods and of course learning new things. I love your no BS approach and your ability to be very direct and call out when something makes no sense.
I just wanted to say thank you.
This is such a fantastic video, it answered quite a few questions I had, thanks David!
Omg bro, I've been searching for a video like this for the longest. I preciate u 🙌🏾
wow I see how it brings the vocal right out cool stuff TY David
Such beautiful voice, she's pure emotion. Can't wait for the vocal pack!!
Amazing info. Thank you for sharing. I really love your teaching style. You explain just enough and move quickly to keep it moving and maintain interest.
This is the first time somebody explained the use of multiple reverbs properly. Thank you so much!
Bravo David! Qua mi hai conquistato! Great thing that you pointed out the connection between all the reverbs to make them more cohesive and the spread on the long one is just the frosting on the cake. Bravo! E grazie per i preziosi cosigli!
Have been using the 3 reverb approach live, both when mixing FOH and MON. Works really well and helps to create/enhance emotion and vibe. Glad to see you using this and sharing the love.
This a really cool trick. 😍 Thank you David. 😊
Very cool. I started doing something close to this on my own, but this is a more sophisticated procedure. Thanks!!
OMG Bella sounds so amazing! 😍
Nice!! Amazing song, can't wait to hear what you guys do
I was literally just working on a song and the vibe calls for some interesting and powerful reverb effects.
Pick up my phone and the video's right at the top of my feed.
Thanks!
This is a fantastic technique!! No need for reverb ducking and it sounds way more natural! Thank you for this tutorial!!
That was truly great- and the way you explained the reason for each reverb.
I often have to remind people that reverb and delay serve as anti-effects, that is, time effects add back the space list by the mic being so close to the source so the result is closer to what the brain is expecting.
Another Pro Tip......A Gem.......Thank you David!
thank you!!! amazingly explained!
Always dropping that knowledge 💯
When it comes to the topic of Reverb it scares the shit out of me, been following many greats on this but what you have explained here has blown my mind, thanks a tonne brother.
Really helpful and good explanations that I could understand with the examples, without wasting time or labouring the points 👏🏼
Great tutorial! Thanks for such a great overview. I've been all over BT unfiltered audio tails for a while now - the retrigger function is amazing for getting rid of that accumulating washout with longer 'verbs
Great example Thanks !!!!!
the most important sonic vid in my book, thanks david, sounded great
Thank you very much David. This was very very good. Much appreciated.
This is great stuff David -- I've done a similar thing with two, but not three -- I'll experiment. Thanks so much!
Absolute gold! It's all about the layers. I used to really struggle with reverbs and suffered from a lot of people around me making me feel like you should achieve results with 1 or 2. I tend to have like 4 reverbs ready, 4 delays ready, and shamelessly send to any amount of them that I need until I get the blend that I want (and then always end up dialing it back). I saw CLA do it that way and decided to stop listening to the people around me 😂 I'm sensing the same kind of "layers upon layers" approach here, and I love it. When I do 1 or 2 reverbs, it most typically sounds disconnected from the vocal and demo-ish, just like you said. Great video
Andy Wallace is the king of this. He can have 3 at the same time that sounds like one
Fantastic technique-- thanks!
Hi David. Awesome training. I implemented what was in this video. After using my ears and dialing in the right settings it works awesome. I've added it to my techniques tool kit. Thanks buddy!! 👍
Thank you, so well-done
This is a great idea, have them build into the next larger. Thanks for the demo, David.
Showed me New methods!!!👏🏼👏🏼 Great tutorial. Thankkkk you
Her voice is out of this world man 🤟
I LOVE your channel!
Loved this one David!
where would I be without you david... thanks as always, great tutorial!
Very perfect tips❤
Very informative video, keep going!
Learn a lot man! Thanks
I saw a video with Dave Pensado years ago when I first learnt about this kinda vocal processing. You can get really in depth with it, and if you're adding delays and chorus etc. to the vocals, you can route the delay tail sends etc. to the same three reverbs in different amounts and really sculpt the space your vocal is in.
Dope shyt bro!!!!!
Really love your videos man
Wow, really cool! Thank you very much 😃
man this was so detailed and well explained. thanks for the info . some priceless stuff.
Great video and explanation of why your choicing multiple reverbs to create perception of physical spaces!
Thankyou.very creative.
i started doing this idea if chaining reverbs and is awesome. But more in one bus. I have all reverbs i like in the bus 🚌 ready to go. Then you have the eq, the compressor, the panning of the reverbs etc. This is an absolutely fascinating and underrated topic. I am studying for a video called “reverbology” and this delay technique you mention looks like the most basic mode of chaining reverbs . I guess i heard about this in mixing of orchestral mock-ups. But to see it in action in a flawless mix like this, and for the vocal line, is what makes the video super original and valuable
this was great . subbed
Her voice is SO hauntingly beautiful!
🙏🙏 thanks brother!
nice trick, thanks man!
Nice demo. Similar to when I keep two reverb send on a similar setting but one only produces the early reflections, one the reverb tail. That gives you fine grained control over distance in a space for individual elements. I also like adding Valhalla Delay with the Diffusion parameter slightly up, or you just add a reverb and automate its mix parameter. I bet the Audiority delay from last month does a great ambience. Just got some crazy ideas about sidechaining a filter on the second and third reverbs with something from the ambience/early reflection portion. An inspiring video today. Thanks. :)
I was already familiar with this technique and I use it often. But it was very interesting to understand what's on your mind while doing this and made me reflect on many details that I had never touched upon. As always thank you for taking something already known to a higher level, there is always a lot to learn from your experience
Dude. Such a cool use of multiple reverbs. I'm sitting here taking notes. \m/
mann sick studioo
GREAT VIDEO
Awesome!!!!!
Wow best reverb tutorial on UA-cam 💯
It is magic.
amazing sound on the vocals man I absolutely love it bro! Even with the stock dverb sounds fabulous. quality out the fuckin ass 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude, I watched your tut , and it's crazy how the short verb with chorus give a great professional touch. I was very into Valhalla because everyone uses it, It's pretty nice but doesn't have that short chorus effect, it will be great to combine those with the TC8210, Thank you!
That´s really goog tip! Already I was messing around with similar thinking, the predelay and the bright/dark as you get more tail, is the key! And of course... in a era of so much hype of plugins... To know what to do and how, any reverb leads to amazing results! Greetings from Brazil!
Thanks a lot this is very helpful
Great vid
That song sounds 🔥 brotha!!!!!!
One of Bella's new tracks
Really cool technique! What I've been doing is experimenting with serial reverbs... A short plate mixed 50% with the dry into a large hall for example. I'm so curious to try this effect with serial reverb - routing each reverb stage into the next to create a blend of the reverbs in an even deeper way!
I love this. Becoming my go to guy
Another amazing song, I can't wait for Bella's next release! 🔥🔥
Did it release already?
excellent
bro i loved heartbreak motel so much! beautiful vibe 🖤🎧 amazing work!!! Bella's voice is magical
Thank you 🙏🙏
Song sounds dope
That was very helpful I do a similar trick with compression 🙌
Thanks a lot , it was much needed.
Can you please make one such video for delay also? Please 🙏
Very Nice tips thx 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
The best reverb lesson watched
Thank you. :)
Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I call them Proximity Ambience & Depht or 3 circles :) ;)
great technique! simple yet effective. thanks for the vid! i know you briefly touched on it, but would love a video covering rap vocals!
I have 3 mixing courses on rap
@@mixbustv awesome. thank you, i will take a look
Very nice. I've often used a delay plugin followed by reverb but will have to try this three stage approach. Also, in another video you use Soothe2 for de-essing. I've used different de-essers but your approach is welcomed and might yield better results. One thing I've ditched is the bright AT4040 condenser mic.
Would you typically prefer a SM7b or Rode K2 (tube) on baritone male vox?
WOW 😯
Good video!
I’ve found that there are times when an authentic natural ambience is desired, using only the actual ambience of the spaces that instruments were recorded in - like jazz combos, string quartets, acoustic folk, etc., and by using either the natural reverb of the space in which these musicians performed, or by re-creating this natural sounding ambience through the use of various digital verbs, it presents a listening experience that puts the listeners into that space with the music.
But, there are also those scenarios where “supernatural” reverb(s) are used to create a depth and dimension that wouldn’t typically be heard in a natural form.
I’m not suggesting that there aren’t existing real spaces with naturally occurring reverbs that have long decays and “deep” ambience, because these places do exist, and, we know that there are convolution reverbs available that have been modeled on these real spaces…but often, it’s the combination of these various spaces that allows us to artificially craft spaces that one wouldn’t typically be able to experience in a natural state.
In the end, it’s all about the context of the song and performances; based on the project we’re working on at the time, and whether a natural -or supernatural ambience is the best to create an immersive experience for the listener…and yet sometimes, that choice includes using no obvious ambience at all.
IMHO, of course. 🙏
pls make a complete guide to help us to improve into delays and reverbs and fxs in general.Im a member and im enjoying a lot your channel ty very much u are amazing!!!!!!
Always super usefull info on this channel. Always good advise, explained well. Not to mention... you can tell bro is a real decent dude. Sort of uncommon for guys with his kind of look, who you can obviously tell are str8 BEASTS that you definitely wouldn't want any smoke with lol.
Great video as always. ✌️
Thank you!
Dude is best in the game, if you actually read this keep it up man you're fucking world class. I feel so inadequate but inspired when I watch your videos
🙏
Hi David, how do you record your screen and audio? you always have such high quality! Just wondering what software you use?
