Welcome Back, you have been missed. Glad you had a good summer with your kids. I look forward to seeing your new ideas and projects you have been working on. Your scrappy stars and your churn dash blocks will make a great quilts. I also like the sailboat blocks you made.
You are one of my favourite quilters on UA-cam 🙋♀️🇨🇦 You offer such practical, helpful tips. Thank you for posting and sharing. I loved your black cat 🐈⬛ table runners & look forward to more of those patterns.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you find my videos helpful. I definitely have more cat runner patterns planned. I have a few of them designed already and I just have to write the pattern and I have more in my mind!
Very glad I found your channel recently. I have enjoyed past videos and looking forward to your upcoming tutorials. From listening to your discussion and all of the requests you have received, we have a-lot to look forward to😊
GLAD I caught this video...I love watching you sew, and listening to you talk about sewing...and I will continue to follow you. Hope you enjoyed your summertime with your kids.
I'm excited about the cathedral window tutorial. I have my grandmothers Cathedral window quilt she made and it has in there somewhere my dads first pair of pants (he was born in 1927) is in it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I just found you and I absolutely love your ideas, and blocks! I’m 72 a long time quilter, but so enjoy the young blood! I defiantly will be doing the quilt along!
Was so fun to see your cheerful face pop up on my youtube!! Glad you had a good summer and looking forward to seeing what you are doing this fall! Welcome back! 😍
I'm so glad you're back! You were definitely missed. Thank you for this inspirational video. I try to either do some cutting or sewing each day but it's so easy to let a few days creep by and then a week or two without quilting. I'm in for the 100 day challenge...thanks Jessica!
Thank you! The 100 day challenge is so wonderful and calling it a challenge gives you that little push to do a little bit each day. It adds up quickly and is so worth it ❤️
Great - I'll need to get you back in my algorithms for new video's . Whoo hoo, your blocks are so perfect! You inspire me. And your filming of the piecing techniques is magical. Bonnie Hunter was asking for input a few months back on 'how to film', I started to reply with your name.
It’s great to see you back. Hope you had a great Summer. It was fun to see the blocks you’ve been working on. I finally started what I’m calling a “controlled” Scrappy Irish Chain using 1.5” squares as leaders and enders. It’s amazing how my pile is growing. See you next time.
Thank you! I'm so happy to be back. That sounds like a great project! And, yes, I agree, when you have pieces cut and ready and work little bits at a time, the blocks add up!
Yay!! Nice to see ya again. Hope you enjoyed your summer. Looking forward to seeing what ya come up with next. Love the blocks you made. That sailboat is adorable. 😊
Great that you are back 😀. I enjoyed your scrappy quilt along at the beginning of the year tremendously and it was so satisfying to make 3 blocks each week. I used your setting pattern and it turned out beautifully and is waiting to be quilted. Looking forward to all your new content 😀
Great video. Thanks for sharing what you've done with the block a day for 100 days. I've decided to use my stash (and mostly a lot of leftover fabric from fat quarter bundles) to make a block a day for a month at a time. I cut all the fabrics for 30 snowball blocks in August and I'm making one a day in September. At the end I'll have a 5x6 block layout for a small quilt top.
So happy to see you again. You mentioned asking for feedback on what to see / do. I'd love to know how to downsize a block square. I'm new to quilting and am loving all that I'm learning and trying, thanks to your sharing your wonderful blocks. I'd love to resize blocks to 4" (tiny, I know, but important to me for a special reason). Can you / anyone suggest how I might accomplish that? Thank you for sharing your time and talent. Greatly appreciated and I can't wait to try another of your new designs.
Thanks! I'd say the best way to do it (if you can't figure the math out) is to use a computer program. I use EQ8. I can draw in a block or choose one from their library and then resize to any size and get cutting instructions or make paper or FPP templates of that block.
Hi Jessica from the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I was so happy to have found you on YT. You're such a delightful presenter who's obviously very talented and in control of your agenda for future projects. I've already decided to do some sailing boat on waves for a future quilt and I'm sure gonna try out some of the designs you showed here. I'm wondering if you've come across a Moda Jolly Bar pattern called "Morning Glories" which is from the Georgia Collection (sold by Fat Quarter Shop). Anyway, as you may have guessed, I bought this and I'd love to watch a demonstration of how to make this quilt. I've trawled the net but cannot find one so I thought I'd just cheekily add this to your very long list of future projects for consideration. Thankyou again for your great videos. I've just subscribed so I won't miss any of your demo's.
So excited you are back Jessica. We missed you I’m glad you took the summer off with your children. They grow up so fast! I am looking forward to all the things you mentioned on your list and all your blocks you worked on are so pretty! I love scrappy blocks especially! Looking forward to your next video♥️. Thanks for sharing with us!😊
Just subscribed to your channel, I like your style of sewing when you can but continuing to create as you can. My lifestyle in a nutshell. I love traditional quilting, just finished my first EPP quilt, now doing a BOM quilt which focuses on appliqué. Just trying to expand my skills as I go. I also love QAL’s! Keep on keeping on!
So glad you’re back! I would check every so often to see if I missed a video! What do you mean you haven’t done much? All of those blocks are so pretty! 100 blocks in 100 days would have been a big challenge for me.! Welcome back!
It is soooooo nice to see you. I just want to hug my computer. I missed you and was going to email to see when you were coming back and what do you know, I got up this morning and there you were in living color. You sounded so excited to be back in front of the camera talking to us and I could feel the energy. You've made me so so happy. Can't wait to see what you do first. ❤❤❤
Clean don’t know how to just want to sew❤ When watching tv I usually cut fabric or pin my fabric 😂 I also make blocks don’t know what to use them for yet but it will make sense one day
Welcome back. Love your blocks. Can you tell us the size blocks your samples you showed? Love the red and chambray. I have not used Moda chambray yet. Might need to order some. I just may need to attempt your “100 day” challenge. Might start Sept but for “30” and then follow up with “60”, which will end right after Thanksgiving . What seems to be your go-to block size during the challenge for those not already for a certain project in mind? Thank you in advance and look forward to what you have planned!
Thank you! The blocks I showed are all different sizes- 5", 6", 8", and 12". I think even doing a 30 day challenge is great! I don't have a go-to size really. Specifically, for this time around in this challenge, I am not putting any limitations on myself. Each day, I just make whatever I feel like making. If you are trying to choose blocks that can be used together, two different options come to my mind- 1.) You can make a size that you don't typically make to push yourself into becoming comfortable with some thing that you usually aren't, or 2.) You can pick a size you are comfortable making so that size isn't really part of the challenge for you.
I made my dad who lived in OH before his death a queen size OH Star quilt. My stepmom told me he was using it the night he died. I used Jodi Barrows square in a square quilt method. BTW, your blocks are beautiful! Do you starch your fabric or finished blocks?
Thanks! There are two quilts behind me that use Lori Holt fabric. One (Happy Go Lucky) is from one of my books (Precut Parade) but it is out of print now. That pattern will be put into my shop when I have the time to update it. The other (Two Step) is from the same book but is already in my shop. You can find that one here- jessicadayon.etsy.com/listing/1579190471/two-step-quilt-pattern-layer-cake-quilt
I made the 2024 mystery sampler but I've never seen your finished quilt. I'm not on Instagram so could you show it in one of your next videos please? Blessings
Can I suggest the lemoyne star block with Y seams? I have seen 1 video with that technique. And I would really would like to have a block with multiple size options.
I'll put that on my list because people often ask about it. I have done a video on it before though. You can find it here- ua-cam.com/video/CKNYK8Kgltg/v-deo.html
Also I love the old traditional patterns, log cabin, churn dash, double wedding ring , broken dishes
Great! I have them noted!

Choosing fabric from yardage when you are not using a collection. I am looking forward to that video as I struggle over that.
A lot of people do. It's hard to explain how I do it because I don't really think about it as I choose but I will try!
I made my dad who lived in OH before his death a queen size OH Star quilt. My stepmom told me he was using it the night he died. I used Jodi Barrows square in a square quilt method. BTW, your blocks are beautiful! Do you starch your fabric or finished blocks?
I'm sorry about your dad's passing. How lovely that your quilt meant so much to him ❤️
And, thank you! I do not starch.
I would love to see a Jen Kingwell foundation paper pieced project!
I typically don't do tutorials for other people's patterns. But I am definitely going to be covering FPP. Thanks!
Sounds exciting! Love your videos. What about a puff quilt?
I'm glad you think so! I'll add that to my list!
