Hello, I have a little question in which order would you use the ISDIN SI strengthener ? I understand the OPI repair, wait 10 min, then once a week use the Jojoba soak, kerasal after each wash (or a drop of oil). Where does ISDIN fit in? thank you :) 🙏💅
I dont think you need both. One or the other :)
Kerasal only once a day, at night.

Agreed that most nail salons over-file and carelessly speed-file to get through as many clients as possible. I have never met ONE nail tech (other than you!) who actually cares about nail health. Thank you for what you do! ❤
I wanted to thank you so much for your videos. I had 2 nails that were splitting for years. I always kept them short and every time I tried to grow them out the split would get worse and I had cut them back. I used all your recommendation, including the daily warm oil treatments. After about 2 months one of my nail stopped splitting and is growing long, healthy and strong. The other one is still in the process of healing and I can feel that it is growing in thicker. I’m so grateful for your videos. Thank you.
I had the same thing on my thumbnail. I had an accident and my nail split right down towards my cuticle area. It always grow with a deep split and it was bigger than this picture shows. I had it for 15 years. I tried everything to fix it to no avail. 😖I was a working mom, super busy, I was always cleaning, washing dishes, bathing my kids etc. Then, we moved house and it had a dishwasher built in, once I started using it, all of a sudden my thumbnail started showing signs of getting better and within 6 months my thumbnail was totally healthy, No split in sight, after 15 years of unsuccessful attempts to heal it so you can imagine my delight. 😊 For the past 10 years my thumbnail has been completely fine. 👌🏼 Nowadays, my kids are all grow up. I’m back to hand washing dishes and cleaning but I don’t have any issues. I think the amount of time my hands got wet back then must have totally prevented my nail bed and nail plate healing. So keeping it dry definitely helped me.

I have a verticals split in both my ring fingers. With doing warm oil soaks every week it is less prominent. I also use the Kerasal three to four nights a week. It seems to be healing at the matrix.🤞Thanks Anna for this video and your wonderful advice.

Oh, great options for me to try. I have the same kind of thing on one of my nails and it's made it hard to grow that one even a short length.
Interesting video, especially since the nail of my right thumb has the same issue lol. I've been doing warm oil soaks for a while and have noticed much less splitting of the nail.
The jojoba oil is amazing! I've been using it after every hand wash for a couple of months and my nails stopped splitting, strengthened and are flexible without breaking 👌👍 thank you for the suggestions
I had this problem too...for many years. It was really painful, caught clothes, hair...I used glue but it didn't last long. When I went to the doctor and he told me to take vitamin D in a month, the nail started to grow and fix. Since then, once a year I do general examinations and also look at D

Thank you so much for all the great info on how to care for our nails! I have learned so much! I love the warm oil soak. My question is have you ever tried the soak with products on the nail? Or have you tried the repair products like the opi under gel products? I would love to know ❤
I have this issue on a couple nails, and what I have learned to do after much trial and error with many different products, is UV cured gel along the top half of the nail. I do it myself with Orly Builder in a Bottle. First I make sure the nail is glued together, then I prep it with the Orly Primer, then apply a thin coat of the Builder and cure with a UV lamp for a minimum of 90 seconds. I usually do 3 solid minutes.. I only have to do it about once a month, and because I am only doing the top half of the nail, it isn't damaging to the new growth. It works like a charm. The key is thin coats of the Builder and proper curing.
What do u mean by glued together ? Do u do 90secs twice ? As u said 3 solid mins..pls explain

I had this, and it lasted for years! Then one day it changed and it stopped. Now I can grow it without splitting. Very strange.. don't know how it got fixed.
I have this exact this exact same problem on my fingernail it splits near the free edge. Here is how I treat the split edge. I purchased brush on nail glue and the Kiss brand clear acrylic powder. I brush on a thin layer of the nail glue about 1/4 inch down from free edge than I dip the nail into the acrylic powder. Let set and dry about 1 to 2 minutes then take a soft brush and brush off the excess powder. Next I apply the brush on glue to the underside of the free edge while pulling back the finger tip flesh with my thumbnail, and again dip the nail in the acrylic powder. Sometimes you might have to drop the powder from a spoon to get it under the nail. This gives it strength underneath, stops it from getting caught in my hair when I shampoo it. You could also put another very thin layer on the top side again if it feels too flexible. The key is THIN LAYERS. If it’s too thick you may have to file the product only and not the nail. Thin layers may not need any smoothing. Remove with acetone. You can do this yourself. I can get about 2 weeks wear doing this method. Use Jojoba oil on the rest of the exposed nail.

I have had the exact same problem in my thumb, twice in a year. The first time I went to the salon and had a nail shield applied. After five months the nail was fine, but still dry and soft. And after 1.5 months it split again. This time I chose to do it myself, and without clear nail polish at all, it just makes it much worse. File the nail carefully, keep it as short as possible, avoid too much water of course. And here's my trick; use Squalane oil, directly on the nail, the other nails probably need it too, it is simply the best oil. At least 2 times a day. And then Mavala Scientifique K+ pro keratinin every morning, to bind the nail plates together. Lots of patience too.😊
Massaging a cream with urea into my nails and edges has rally helped my nail splitting.
I wonder if nail salons will ever have a dedicated person who only helps people with problem nails. I think she/he would be very busy!
The only way I can keep my nails from splitting is to use Nailtiques 2 plus as the before my Dazzle Dry top coat. Nailtiques 2 plus works with the Dazzle Dry system. I apply another coat of Nailtiques 2 plus and Dazzle Dry after about 3 days. I use jojoba oil several times a day. My polish stays well for a week.

I have watched you for many months and I like and agree with advise that you give concerning natural fingernails. Your great!
While looking at the second photo, concerning the great toe, I’d like to make a suggestion. Have you ever heard of Lori Halloway, otherwise known as The Meticulous manicurist? She’s specialized in pedicures. I’ve have followed her on UA-cam for over a year. She’s an expert in the field of pedicures. I’ve watched her give great advise and she teaches how to repair toenails like the one in the second photo. It looks like that nail has a bit of fungus and in order to fix that she should soak the toenail and remove the debris from under that nail. After watching a few of her videos you’ll see what I mean. Then apply a drop of mail mycosis, twice a day. That should fix her all up! Give her a look-see.

Yes but it’s a professional treatment and sadly many techs are not doing it correctly at all totally defeating the purpose.
i had one myself and the dermatologist told me that the underlying cause of what i had was a periungueal wart and that i needed a minor surgery if i wanted it removed but she didn't really encourage me towards doing it as i wasn't really bothered (i was a major nail biter so all my nails were ugly)
now i don't have it anymore i guess it just disappeared by itself _thank god_

To help with the water damage, she can use nitrile gloves when ever she uses water on her clients hair. It does take getting use to, but you learn how to tell when the hair is rinsed and clean. A whole lot of people in the Blissette nail bar do this when showering and washing their own hair. I use to do this, but can’t wear gloves. I get fingernail infections.
Ufff. I don’t know about the gloves. During the summer when I’m working my hands get so sweaty in gloves I don’t even bother. I still use them for pedicures but for manicures I try to avoid them.
@@TheSalonLife i didn’t explain myself right, I’m sorry. The gloves would be for clients, or anyone, that need or want extra protection from water damage while showering or washing hair. After hand washing, washing hair and showering can be the main exposure of nails to water. We can’t avoid washing our hands, although we don’t have to wash them 20 times a day. However, we can protect our nails from water in the shower or washing hair by wearing nitrile gloves and when showering wearing hair ties around the wrists. This works pretty good. Your clients or viewers that are hair techs can wear gloves when washing their clients hair. This can help protect their nails from the damage from the water. If they are experiencing damage from all the water and want to protect their nails, nitrile gloves might be the only way to protect their nails from water. I have told my hair tech this, but she worries about not feeling when the hair is clean. It is very possible to learn how to tell when the hair is rinsed through the gloves. You just have to get use to it. I know a lot of people who got use to it. I’d recommend them using them during their showers until they get use to it. They can always take a glove off after they are done just to make sure.
The gloves can get hot. I’d never wear them outside or when sweating. If the hands sweat, that defeats the purpose of the gloves. So maybe they would only work if the salon was air conditioned. (I hate the heat and don’t see how people can live without air conditioning, especially in a humid climate. Humidity is the worse. It’s very hot but very dry where I live.) Also, hair techs usually use very cool water because it’s better for the hair, especially if the hair is colored. Cool water would help prevent sweating. It’s just an idea. A bunch of people in the nail bar wear gloves when they wash their own hair. When I did that the first time, I was amazed at how my hands felt afterward. It really showed me how drying showering and washing hair is to the hands and nails.

Hi Anna, I’m so sorry to ask you this question that is unrelated to your video but I couldn’t find an alternative way to message you. I’m wondering what you use as your scrubbies as you call them? It looks like muslin cloth or something. The reason I ask is because all the lint free wipes I have tried aren’t lint free. Im only starting out and I have just realized that these lint free wipes we leaving tiny tiny dots of material on the nail after cleaning before application of base coat. And it’s only later in the manicure that I see these little tiny bumps. It’s pieces of the so called lint free wipes. So I’d like to switch to a material that is actually lint free. Please help! Love you and your channel x

This has happened to me very recently and have been looking for a fix. I bought a nail repair kit to see if I can fix it, and have been taking biotin to strengthen my nails more. And yes I'm a guy and this happens to guys too 😅
Be careful with Biotin. Taking biotin might interfere with the test results for a heart attack.
It can also mess with the thyroid tests etc

How can I find a good therapeutic nail salon that can do natural manicures that improve nail health, nail shape and smooth skin surrounding the nail. I prefer short natural nails with a minimal sheer polish. Thank you.
Hello there! The skin health and nail health is something you have to do. A salon cannot make your skin healthy. They can gently shape your nails, maybe smooth the skin a bit, and polish your nails.
Nail and skin care are up to you.
To be honest not too many people nowadays are interested in providing natural nail services but thankfully I teach how to take care of the skin and nails.

Sadly no, the ridge is usually permanent and it starts under the skin fold.
Then I'm the exception. It smoothed all of my ridges. No more cracks.
I also tried it for well over a month and no improvement in the split. Although i did notice an overall improvement in all other nails, the split itself did not improve.
