Planning your child's birthday party? You don't have to spend a fortune on a cake to make it memorable. In this video, part 3 of a 6-part series, you'll learn how to make a dress for a princess doll cake using fondant.
Now that we have the base of our dress completed and covered in fondant, we are ready to decorate. So you can decorate the base of the dress in any fashion that you like. You can add your doll, you can get these from any craft store, cake decorating store also. What you want to do is find the center of the top of your dome, and it comes with a nice little pick, so you can just stick it in, and it will stay in place. So you want to push your doll in, and there! We already have the making of our dress. Now you want to give your doll some clothes as well. So what I'd like to use is a heart shaped cutout, and with this cutout you're going to give your doll a nice little top. So what you can do is you can select any color of fondant that you like. For this case I'm going to use some pink, because girls like pink, and you're just going to just roll your fondant a littleyou don't need that much and we're going to roll this little piece of fondant... Now this you'll want about 1/4 of an inch thick, as well. You want to get this nice and even, I'm going to add some sugar to the table so that we can get our heart up, once we've cut it out. And you're just going to take your cutter, and you're going to to press into it, and it's going to give you a nice cut-out of a heart. Now what you're going to do...You're going to take the doll back out for this purpose. You can create some edible cake glue but I'd just like to use good old fashion water. And what I'm going to do is I'm just going to brush some water lightly around, close to the edge of the heart, you don't want to put too much on. And then, what you want to do is take your doll, and you just want to put the heart right here, in the middle and the water is going to help to stick it on. And then you can take your knife, and you can just cut this little piece off. And then we'll stick her back into there, and there, we have the making already of a top. I just want to push it in, just a little bit, just to round it out. All right. And there, you have the beginning of the top. If you want you can add a little decoration like flowers to her trim, around it... I'm going to make her a nice little bow, and it's going to hang down to the back."
