Easily one of the best damn shows ever made. But one thing no other show will be able to compete with Mindhunter on....the casting choices. They just dont mess around in that department.
2023 and it is officially off the table. Just came here to show support for Season 3. I enjoyed it so much, I'm just HOPING they change their mind and make Season 3. 🤞🏻
The interview with Manson in season #2 was just amazing. That actor deserves an award. Watched it several times. Although Batshit crazy. It was pretty powerful.
Looks incredibly like the real Manson as well. Anyone interested in Manson should read Helter Skelter. That is the best true crime book I've read and I've read many.
He's an Australian actor called Damon Herriman, and he also plays Manson in Tarantino's new film. I agree he deserves an award for this, he was mesmerising.
This is one the best edited shows i’ve ever seen. The interrogation screen transition is absolutely captivating. The viewer gets so into the scene that we feel we are in the same room as they are.
Season 2 began and ended strongly but Season 1 was definitely superior. In 2 Carr's storyline was weak, Ford was minimized and only Tench matched his interest level from season 1. Greg was also suspiciously absent in the last few episodes. The team apparently have greater funding now but progressed little as far as the study. More happened in season 1 and what happened felt more impactful, the interviews especially.
I agree. The interviews felt a bit routine while in season 1 they were actively driving the plot forward. And I was so much looking forward to the big climactic questioning of Williams in court when the prosecution together with the BSU was struggling to make Williams stop acting like an indignant innocent lamb suffering from outrageous and false accusations. They were exhausting him with questions about all kinds of minutest details for hours, and then all of a sudden slapped him with a question out of nowhere about how he felt murdering the kids. And then he showed his real face. In the book it's quite an intense moment: «I said to Mallard, "Remember the old TV show» «This Is Your Life?" You’ve got to do that with him. You’ve got to keep him on the stand as long as you can, you’ve got to break him down. Because he’s an overcontrolled, rigid personality, he’s an obsessive-compulsive. And to get to that rigidity, you have to keep the pressure on him, sustain the tension by going through every aspect of his life, even stuff that doesn’t seem to mean anything, like where he went to school. Just keep it up. Then, when you’ve worn him down, you have to physically touch him, just like Al Binder did. What’s good for the defense is good for the prosecution. Move in close, violate his space, and catch him off guard. Before the defense has the opportunity to object, ask him in a low voice, "Did you panic, Wayne, when you killed these kids?" And when the time comes, that’s just what Mallard does. For the first several hours of cross-examination, he can’t rattle Williams. He catches him up in a number of glaring inconsistencies, but it’s the same calm, "How could it possibly be me?" Williams. The gray-haired, gray-suited Mallard methodically goes through his whole life, then at the right time, he goes in close, puts his hand on Williams’s arm, and in a low, methodical south-Georgia drawl says, "What was it like, Wayne? What was it like when you wrapped your fingers around the victim’s throat? Did you panic? Did you panic?" And in a weak voice of his own, Williams says, "No." Then he catches himself. He flies into a rage. He points his finger at me and screams, "You’re trying your best to make me fit that FBI profile, and I’m not going to help you do it!» John Douglas, Mark Olshaker. «Mindhunter»
Carr's storyline was so weak it almost ruined S2 for me. Why have a character there if little of what they do will have any repercussions on the story?
@@sayrishkhan3726 yes, because the producer has no time at the moment since he is taking care of other movies. However, the show will return when he has time again - it hasn't been cancelled
Alice Doe I felt the same as you about autism. Then he started wetting the bed and regressing it seemed in age as in playing with old toys, sucking his thumb, his mom bathing him, etc. glad I’m not the only one.
It is apparently inspired by real life events. Two boys beat one toddler with a brick and later crucified him, hoping he will be resurectted. We see in the begining that he started to finally act like a normal child, he even spoke to Bill(in season1 he didn't) and said he played with some kids and seemed happy. They are a church going ppl so his idea was to crucify him and no normal child would come to such idea. Also, what do you guys think; why didn't Nancy let the mother of murdered toddler speak with Brian?(Sorry for my bad English)
Favourite scene that I watch over again is when Ford gets the son of Sam to admit that his story was fake. That smirk. “Especially the shrinks” Goosebumps yo
Yuv Ramdharrysing not true. True Detective is a great show, but Mindhunter is more of a continuation of Fincher`s previous serial killer movie based on real life, the Zodiac.
Ed was a very reflective man, about himself and his living standards. It was very interesting to see that a serial killer analyzed himself so much and had the ability to discern his weaknesses.
I love how they made Ed Kemper so huge, not only physically but just in general. They they shoot scenes with him in, its so tense, especially in the hospital scene
The sound design in season 2 was sooooo good! When they interviewed Mansons puppet, you could softly hear screaming when he talked about killing people.
This show is still one of the favorites in Netflix ever and it is fascinating about the criminal profiler techniques from FBI and all actors who are played serial killers looks very identical to real life. I am so excited for season 3. I am thinking about what's next investigation for next season.
This show is amazing! Tv shows and movies that use gore and violence to creep the viewers out need to take notes from Mindhunter. I think Jason Hill (the composer) deserves tons of awards for what he’s created for the show. And so does every single actor/actress.
I am completely hooked on this series--can't stop watching it. I'm kind of a behavioral science nerd so listening to these serial killers is fascinating. As the team looks for commonality among serial killers and find common threads like overbearing mothers, absentee fathers and the emotional, mental and physical abuse these people suffer as they are asked a series of questions that is supposed to shine a spotlight on WHY these people grew up to do the things they do, the scientific nerd inside me is also wondering why children who grow up in the exact same kinds of environments suffering the same kinds of abuse DON'T focus that rage at other people and go about living very average, normal lives never hurting a flea. Now that would be a show I'd watch as well. What is that thing that keeps an abused child from growing up to be a monster?
Just finished rewatching Mindhunter. Simply brilliant television. The actors they cast to play Kemper, Berkowitz, Wayne Williams at the other serial killers was so spot on in appearance I had to keep reminding myself they were actors...outstanding work. Such a shame there's not going to be another season anytime soon...
Pretty much every True Crime buff knows all of these things, if you have read Mindhunter and Whoever Fights Monsters: the first book by John Douglas, the second by Robert K. Ressler. And there are some incredibly choice podcasts you can listen to that have really well told and researched crimes. For the Atkid story I recommend Atlanta Monster. And Wayne Williams really did hand out his resume...
So disappointed that it got canceled This is one of the Netflix gems that's hidden. I only found it because I feel in love with Jonathan after watching him as King George in Hamilton and as Patrick in looking. And I looked up what else he's been in and FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES I binge the series twice every month Just love it and I am not giving up on my hope for it continuing 🥺🙏
Fantastic series! Binge watched both seasons in 3 days! While Googling the killers at the same time. I read the reason there won't be a season 3 is because seasons 1 and 2 cost too much. Well, what kind of reward is that for making an excellent, well written, well directed edge of your seat series that paid attention to every single detail no matter how small.........with no physical violence?? Give us a season 3 and keep it going!
I just discovered this few days ago from a Facebook page post. bored and nothing to do, tried watching this and oh boi. Now, i finally finished 2 seasons and quite disappointed by how Netflix cancelled this very very good show.
Every single actor did an amazing job, especially all the serial killers but I audibly gasped seeing Son Of Sam. The makeup is so brilliantly chilling.
This show is the best! Not only the acting is commendable but the music, the colour tones of the scenes, the dialogues, the seating and setting is way too good man! Hands off to the team!
This TV Series is a complete Masterpiece. Encyclopedia for Serial Killers. Richest Themes, Deeper from Facts to Fiction. The Serie of the 2010's Decades.
The violence of this series is certainly less visually, but the dialogues, the description of the murders, how thrilled is a killer to go on his hunting ground is bone chilling
This show will swallow you whole you won't stop watching it until you've finished all the episodes available. I just can't get over this show. Everything is perfect.

I hope they'd do Bundy, Ramirez and Gacy for season 3, Dahmer and Ridgway for season 4 and finally BTK for season 5 😃 If only they'd give us more seasons ever... 😭
Even Agent Holden freaking out and getting panic attack during the hospital scene is enough to tell how freaky that scene, Ed Kemper and the show in general is.
Really well done series. They made Ed Kemper a little more overweight than the real thing, but you could tell the actor had studied Kemper's speaking patterns. Wayne Williams was spot on. The actor playing Berkowitz looked like he had appliances, but was convincing.
I googled this and saw a very high rating. I wasn’t sure if this was good but omfg I finished this in 2 days. So sad they discontinued this… all the actors that played the criminal not only look like them but also had similar characteristics… this show has so much potential 😢
The final scene of season 1, with "In the Light" by Led Zeppelin in the background was absolutely breath-taking. I loved the whole 70's vibe throughout. Amazing work. I hope David Fincher is back directing some episodes...the show isn't as popular (my guess?) as some others on the 'flix...but that's OK...the show isn't flashy...more of a slow burn...but my GOD is it entrancing. The fact that so few cared about those missing black children in Atlanta is still so upsetting... that shit lit a rage in me during Season 2
The fact that no one believed it was a black guy also says a lot.
It was frustrating to watch!
It was big news when the Atlanta child murders happened. It was all over the news. Maybe some didn't care but most did. I was a white kid in Oklahoma City and I was terrified. It was like a nightmare.
Black Lives Matter....right?
@@ashmegspence2597 gotta think this was not to long after the civil rights act so the Atlanta police didnt want to speculate that it was in fear that it would spark a race riot
The actor that portrayed Manson also portrays Manson in the Quentin Tarantino film; Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Damon Herriman.
Was an annoying kid actor down here in Oz back in the Eighties.
Glad to see he's graduated to some really hardcore roles nowadays.
Quite impressed.
And Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is great.
Problem is that in the QT film you blink and almost dont see him.. such a waste of talent.
@@ComaDave I've loved him since Love My Way. He was also excellent in Justified. I've been rooting for his real break-out success for some time now.
Thats Damon an Aussie actor. Look for, Laid, a series he was in. It is darkly funny, He plays a most unlucky chap. Too funny.
Just found out that dude is Australian too, that actor is GREAT !
Easily one of the best damn shows ever made. But one thing no other show will be able to compete with Mindhunter on....the casting choices. They just dont mess around in that department.

The interview with Manson in season #2 was just amazing. That actor deserves an award. Watched it several times. Although Batshit crazy. It was pretty powerful.
There was a point where I was literally like "He makes some good points"
The casting did a great job with the serial killers, and Manson

In the book it's quite an intense moment:
«I said to Mallard, "Remember the old TV show» «This Is Your Life?" You’ve got to do that with him. Before the defense has the opportunity to object, ask him in a low voice, "Did you panic, Wayne, when you killed these kids?"
And when the time comes, that’s just what Mallard does. Did you panic?"
And in a weak voice of his own, Williams says, "No."
Then he catches himself. He flies into a rage. He points his finger at me and screams, "You’re trying your best to make me fit that FBI profile, and I’m not going to help you do it!»
John Douglas, Mark Olshaker. «Mindhunter»
The Atlanta case was the main reason for that it felt crowded because that's how it was IRL, it's frustrating but realistic
Carr's storyline was so weak it almost ruined S2 for me. Why have a character there if little of what they do will have any repercussions on the story?

So, it is basically confirmed that Dahmer will be on season 3 so.. can't wait for that
3rdRedScare would be interesting. All of the actors they have playing the serial killers are killing it. Pun not intended lol
3rdRedScare why dahmer?
Possibly he has the role that BTK had so far because Dahmer was caught on 1991.
It would be awsome to see if Ross Lynch would be the actor of Dahmer, after how amazing he played Dahmer in «my friend Dahmer»
Okay? Even though a third season itself hasn't even been confirmed yet
Loved the Brian storyline, hoping they follow that up. Interested to see how it develops.
I think Brian is developing psychological and sociopathic tendencies. In Season 1 I thought he had some form of autism but now I’m not so sure...
Alice Doe I felt the same as you about autism. Then he started wetting the bed and regressing it seemed in age as in playing with old toys, sucking his thumb, his mom bathing him, etc. glad I’m not the only one.
I’m hoping that Tench looks into Brian’s family history in the next season.
Nia Jones oh man. That’s. Good idea.
Holden is THICC😍
Cry Whit Ikr that’s all I was thinking when they kept zooming in on him lmao
Dummy thicc 😩🙌🏻
He's gay too...in real life🤤
The prosthetics used for Berkowitz _TERRIFIED_ me 🤢
but they did get his look right, you have to admit...
Don't be fatuous, Jeffrey absolutely! I think that’s why it terrified me so much
Glad I wasn't the only one. Is was eerie watching it at night.
yeah i agree, Berkowitz just has a creepy looking face. Reminds me of the Uncanny Valley
I was so caught up but in the scene that although something was off, the thought of prosthetics never crossed my mind.
I need season 3 to be released sooner. I can’t do another 2 year wait for such a good show
wayne williams is crazy crazy in the show. insane acting.
Even more crazy in real life.
One of the best shows I've ever seen. More chilling because I'm old enough to remember when these horrific crimes occured.
I watched Hannibal before but it was too unsettling. Mindhunter is just the perfect type of psychology, suspense and drama. See you again in 2021.
True. Hannibal on Netflix is good but too aesthetic, minimalistic. It's more a show for kind of snob people
Well it's not gonna be 2021 sadly
Favourite scene that I watch over again is when Ford gets the son of Sam to admit that his story was fake. That smirk. “Especially the shrinks” Goosebumps yo
I've just seen that scene and I thought the same thing...
If you haven’t watched the show yet do it it’s one of the best tv shows I ever seen from directing casting and acting
In addition: Filming and cutting was excellent, too!
The only annoying part is Holden's gf
The first time I watched the serie, I found him unsetling because of the actors previous job as Christophe in Frozen.
She disappeared in Season 2 and laughed.
I put Mindhunter up there with The Sopranos, The Wire and Oz. Great show.
The wire is the best
There would be no Mindhunter without True Detective. Both are awesome 🖒
Yuv Ramdharrysing not true. True Detective is a great show, but Mindhunter is more of a continuation of Fincher`s previous serial killer movie based on real life, the Zodiac.
Season 1 of True Detective is untouchable in terms of Crime dramas.
@Stephanie Logan did u even understood the ending of the sopranos
They did an AMAZING casting job. All the killers look just and act like the real thing. 🙌🙌
Ed was a very reflective man, about himself and his living standards. It was very interesting to see that a serial killer analyzed himself so much and had the ability to discern his weaknesses.
When Holden said Aww about the bird I burst out laughing 😂😂😂😂
I love how they made Ed Kemper so huge, not only physically but just in general. They they shoot scenes with him in, its so tense, especially in the hospital scene
Because the real guy is huge...Don't you know that?
The actor playing Edward Kemper, nailed it.
My niece was an extra in one of the episode. I just wanted to say that.😁

When Holden says "Awww" to speck & Bill looks at him 😂😂😂
The mental state of the three leads is really interesting to watch it warp and change as they interact with these individuals
This show is amazing! Tv shows and movies that use gore and violence to creep the viewers out need to take notes from Mindhunter. I think Jason Hill (the composer) deserves tons of awards for what he’s created for the show. And so does every single actor/actress.
Neeeeedddd moreeeee seasonssssss
And not two years later! Lol
I will never forgive Netflix for cancelling this masterpiece.
Very good question. I think up to now there is no answer. Maybe there is a certain personality we all have just from the beginning.
The first scene in the opening scared the crap out of me.
Same lol I was instantly hooked on the show
They got the Wayne Williams actor so perfect down to the T , looked just like the real guy.
The actor who performed Brudo maybe someday will be Harvey Weinstein on screen; they're veryy similar

Holden is a true embodiment of the saying ''to catch them you have to be them''. a real masterpiece this series.

The violence of this series is certainly less visually, but the dialogues, the description of the murders, how thrilled is a killer to go on his hunting ground is bone chilling

I hope in season 3 they will interview a woman serial killer. It's always a man, don't know the perspective of a woman looks cool to me
There are actually heaps of female serial killers.
Ceren D. it’s probably because they mostly focus on killers with sexual reasons to kill. most female killers don’t have sexual reasons to kill. sorry for my english, not a native speaker lol
I think that it will be good idea to add some female murders to the show
Aileen Wuornos was the only high profile serial killer caught in the 90s.
Hope they do show her though.

The second season came out, and before I went to bed that night I had watched every single second. It is truly an amazing show
One of the best series I have seen in recent years
The final scene of season 1, with "In the Light" by Led Zeppelin in the background was absolutely breath-taking. I loved the whole 70's vibe throughout. Amazing work. I hope David Fincher is back directing some episodes...the show isn't as popular (my guess?) as some others on the 'flix...but that's OK...the show isn't flashy...more of a slow burn...but my GOD is it entrancing. Every scene is a 70's makeover. Season 2 is out? I'LL DRINK TO THAT!
