You're literally the best tutor and a life saver. Thankyou for making such a long video and explaining every step by which it became easier for us not to just create a count down timer but also learn about the elements we used in the process.
Awesome tutorial and explanation! I've changed the first expression fron "floor" to "ceil" That way when the ring ends, the timer will be 0 on that exact time!
beginner at after effects and really needed a kick in the pants to get a timer that actually works AND looks nice. I learned so much from your tutorial ...it's all about the concepts and possibilities ...you did a great job explaining and demonstrating . Got the MOGRT out to premiere and it looks great ...thanks so much.....
I came here looking for a timer and got an entire education and the timer ! Thank you so so so so so so so so so much!!! You are literally the definition of amazing!
AMAZING... MIC DROP... Love this one Gal. I use timers in my live stream Start / End timer clips. A lot more to this one here but WAY nicer. Thank You Gal... Got you on IG now too...
Your explanation skills are superb. Compared to many other youtubers, you explain things precisely in a few simple steps. I made this animation along with your instruction in one go, and it is perfect. I love to learn from you, but no financial capacity to buy your courses.
Thanks Clint! :) Hope it helps you with other .mogrts you make in Ae too. Once you get a handle on the expression controls, you'll become a pick whip master!
This is awesome, thanks! Could you or someone else tell me how to count minutes instead of seconds and how to start/end minute counter as the seconds counter please?
Thank you for being so kind! Awesome tut, very well explained and yes, it has opened doors in my head to new possibilities. You are amazing! More power to you :)
Thank you so much for the video! I find that when the timer starts the countdown it only takes 2 frames for the initial number to move to the next. For instance, a 30-second timer will start at 30 then 2 frames later drop to 29. How do I split the difference in frames to make the majority of the initial number last longer than 0. I use 24 FPS on my videos and would like to do 14 frames on the initial number and 10 frames on the zero so you can still see it. What are the options here?
Thanks for the question! I'd need to look into the expression more closely to see if there's anything I can do. In the meantime, you can check out more about expressions from School of Motion to see if you can find an answer: www.schoolofmotion.com/blog/time-expression-after-effects and ua-cam.com/video/_ltXXHjox4w/v-deo.html
Hey Gal can i have the expression to be used on the Trim Path’s Start parameter to animate one of the outer dashed rings in the Timer animation. Please i need it i tried creating but i failed several times.... U will be of great help............
Hey, fantastic tutorial! May I ask... Is there is a way to make the stroke end at "0"? (so that the outer timer ring has done a full 360 degree spin once the timer hits 0s).
As of yet, I haven't figured it out as it's so precise by the milisecond! But if the seconds included miliseconds it would make sense. For now It's the best I got :)
I adjusted the text expression a little. it's definitely quick and dirty but it gets the job done. I marked the adjusted code with "// ", so be sure to remove those after pasting: c=thisComp.layer("Control").effect("Count Down")("ADBE Checkbox Control-0001"); m=Math.floor(thisComp.layer("Control").effect("Time Control")("ADBE Slider Control-0001")); if(c==1){ // t=Math.floor(m-time+1) // if(t>m) // t=m if(tm) t=m; } if(t
Very good video. Exactly what I'm looking for. But one question. How I can change the timer from numbers to clock format like 00:30 or when I need 10 minutes to 10:00 ?
Hi Gal, Thank you 🤜🤛🙌 kindly for this awesome 🎬🎓🎥 tutorial. Is there any fix for the 'progress bar' to actually finish spot-on with the time running out (and not moments later)? Many thanks, Sandro
Kelsey, How did you change the colour of the timer to green at 3secs and then to red at 1 sec at the very start of the video... Is there a slider to change colour according to the time left???
Hello, I'm from Taiwan The production process of the AE countdown timer animation is the same as your video, but the text color of the countdown timer cannot be changed normally in the Pr program, and it changes normally in the AE program. Which link is the problem? My AE and PR versions are 23.6
Hello Premiere Gal, I just discovered your channel and thank you for making such an awesome timer tutorial! I have a question: If I wanted to create multiple timers (one after the other), how can I change "Expression 2" so it can 'restart' the Ring to match the new timer? Aka how can I reset the timer ring to have it go around the glowing timer again?
Clapping is only necessary if you record audio separately from your video on a difference device. But Premiere Pro's autosynchronizing tool is so good you don't need a clapper. Generally it's nice to have the clap so you can see in the waveform where the clap is.
After Effects has disables the expression because it says there’s an error in line 3 in property ‘Source text’ of layer 2 9’1’0 in comp ‘timer’. ReferenceError: c is not defined. This is a shame because I just got the 7 day trial of Envato as well because I thought I needed it. Glad I can cancel that subscription. Is there any way to fix this?
When we export the mogrt from after effects how can we add duration of the mogrt file so that we can adjust the duration of the mogrt file in premiere pro.
You'd need to add in a responsive time control slider with expressions. This is a topic I'm still researching, but in the meantime, it doesn't take time to just use the razor tool to just cut where you want the mogrt to end in the Premiere Pro Timeline.
That's a template from Elements, super easy to edit in After Effects, just add in your own media, here is the link to the template: 1.envato.market/instagrampromo
No matter what time I put in, the initial number doesn't stay on the screen for a whole second, it skips to the next number almost immediately, which defeats the purpose of the function. So disclaimer to anyone who actually needs it to work properly : it doesn't
Hey Illona - Definitely want to make sure it does! I'd be happy to figure out how to get it working right for ya, some people like to have it in decimals or in seconds, my friends over at UkraMedia have a few other expressions you can try. I recommend checking out their UA-cam channel :)
So I must be the only person that noticed it counts down to 0 but the outer circle is really at 1 second? ua-cam.com/video/DOTELMdxP18/v-deo.html Great tutorial but one or both of the expressions needs to be modified to make it work properly. Wish I knew javascript...
Hey @Premiere_Gal, I Finally had some time to play around with this. In the first expression change line four to t=Math.floor((m+1)-time) If you choose 10 as your Slider value this will start your timer at 11 but the outer circle will end when the number reaches 0 like it should. The only thing you'll have to do is when you import this into your Premiere project you will need to trim the imported object literally ONE frame to get rid of that ONE frame where the timer reads 11.
You can also just change the expression for the outer circle (expression 2). Change the expression to: m=Math.floor(thisComp.layer("Control").effect("Time Control")("ADBE Slider Control-0001")-1); 100/m*time; This literally deducts that one second from the outer circle.
@@danielj7567 I like it! Both align the ring with the actual countdown but my version gives you the number of seconds assigned using the Time Control slider. Your solution seems to give you -1 seconds so if you wanted 10 seconds you'd have to enter 11.
Thanks for watching! You can copy and paste the expressions from this page: premieregal.com/blog/timer-expressions-after-effects
