Instead of: - create new layer - select fill tool - change color to red - click empty area of canvas You can: - create solid color layer - select red Not only is it half the steps, but the color can easily be change by double-clicking the solid color layer
Or shorten it further by having the layer mask selected. And hitting the “ | “ key on the keyboard. * Or “q” as one of the other comments suggested. What that does is give the layer mask a red colour for all the “transparent” areas. (: Edit: didn’t get a chance to go though the comments and it was mentioned already my bad xD

Great tutorial. Very well explained. The only suggestion I have is that the shadow for the train was coming straight towards the camera instead of being angled towards the lower-right, as the other shadows were. Otherwise, this whole scene could easily pass as a movie clip. Love it!
Don't forget by adding the perspective of the shadow animation from the train according to the perspective of the object shadows on the ground or depending where the light source in the scene is coming from would also help in creating a realistic look to the scene as well. Nice video!!!

Very good tutorial! I found it really useful. I appreciate how the final product exists in its own reality which is not really any specific city in general. It clearly has a European feel in the foreground (Budapest, as I've seen in the comments), but we know it isn't because of the skyscrapers. And then at the same time, anyone who recognizes the Sears Tower will see that the skyline is Chicago, but also that this scene could never exist because there is no land where this photo was taken. At first that sort of bugged me, but I actually really like the fact that this is a totally manufactured scene that combines European and American city life. Very nice!

Already watched like x5 times during my hope-education process through AE and Photoshop. This is best tutorial Ive ever seen. Pls more tutorials by u
😍
Free advice but the Adobe suite costs a bomb these days. Sadly you need a good solid income to support playing with it now. Years ago the program was a free throw away bundled with PC hardware. Funny how everyone forgets so fast.
Not only that you could just buy the software straight out and not pay any fees. now that’s not an option
Get a crack generator and activate it for free
its literally 20 dollars a month for the entire suite with photoshop, premier, lightroom, after effects, cloud, spark etc. its never been cheaper, ever 10 years ago all those things were like 5 grand together
@@sunburst8810 Thats the student price, it's $78 per month in Australia. Sorry for the reality check it's an expensive suite that way back in time was a free handout with hardware purchases.
cloud have fucked us all

Wow, fantastic tutorial! Thank you very much! I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign in my job, but am keen to broaden my skill set. I used Premiere years ago in university, so am reasonably familiar with video editing basics, but have never really used After Effects. May I ask, what is the best way to start learning this package?
Glad it was helpful! and the best way to start is...to start! just get the software, come up with an idea or find some tutorials, and create.😂
the train shadow is cast incorrectly :(((, but it looks insane anyway!
😂 ordinary person like me who doesn't know shit about blender won't be able to figure out the mistakes
I have never done photoshop or anything like that. And I think I found a new hobby/passion.
so cool!
Быть мной - это когда ты "от" и "до" знаешь как это сделать, но руки на столько из задницы, что можно даже не пытаться. :D
You didn’t have to change the original background, Budapest is much more beautiful than the modern city that you added!
I did because I can, that's the beauty of these tools, sticking to reality was never the point of this video 😉
This is insane, wow !!! Wonderful !
thank youu

Came across ur video.. and wow this opens up a whole new world for me.. I have 25+ years of photoshop experience and learning after effects would take my work to whole other level.. awesome video thanks.. 🙌
Great to hear!
Don’t want to be that guy, but, the train thing looked really fake.
You are
Nice tutorial! I had it in my recommendation for quite a while but didn't watch it until now. I like that you're just talking quietly and making it as easy for everyone to understand. Some tutorials are by people who are super loud and just talk way too much about unnecessary things
Awesome, thank you!
i’ve never learned so much in a single video
glad to hear that
I just wanna say this video saved me on my assignment as what u just did with the still images was what I needed to do for my assignments even the camera panning forwards Thank you so MUCH.
FYI The environment was a futuristic city in the horizon of a sunset as the camera panned towards the city
that's really cool!
Bravo. Standing Ovation. This actually gave me goose bumps. I would love to you create another world scene. Like something from Avatar. Using a scene from Earth and create new flora and fauna, planets in the sky etc. You are another level. GOD MODE.
Thank you so much for the kind words
That would be sooooo sick
Wow!!! So atmospheric and a bit sad scene ! I luv it, I moved to this day
I have no experience with photoshop or AE and I probably never will experiment with it. But I still watched the entire video. Something about your voice and explanation style got me watching till the end. I hope your channel blows up because this is fantastic content
Really appreciate that 🙏
Wonderful, you are a real wizard, for sure. Thank you for the tutorial.
Glad it was helpful!
I just watch this for no reason. I don't even need this information but it entertained me.
This is the coolest thing I’ve seen all day
wow!
This video is pure Gold. Thank you so much for putting this together so much to learn here
Glad it was helpful!
