I finished this game around 2 weeks ago, and I gotta say. It’s one of the best jrpgs I’ve ever played.
xeno stories are so dense I'm not worried about spoilers. If you think the trailers reveal a lot, I guarantee this is the tip of the iceberg lol

These are some of the only games in which you can feel the love and passion of the team that created them while playing. Amazing work!

Nintendo has probably listened to the criticism the English dub was getting and determined the Japanese acting was more marketable.
Look up NintendoAU channel in UA-cam. You should be able to find the English Dub. I watched the whole video... don't recommend anyone else do the same though. English dub sounds so... bland.

Beat the game and it's definitely my GOTY for Switch. Odyssey had a strong ending but majority of the moons felt like a chore to get. Botw had a strong start (sense of discovery) but the weakest ending of all time when comparing to the other 3D zelda games. Xenoblade 2, it was rollercoaster ride with excellent storytelling and fine tuned gameplay.
I really hate this comment section where they’re people who think they know the story of this game without even playing it excusing it of being generic it makes them sound like idiots but it’s a small minority compared to the people hyped for this game

There's a character, a relevant one, from the first game for what I know. The villain or an immortal dude, something like that. Other than that, different story, different time.
It’s kind of like Final Fantasy. Every game so far has its own world, characters, and running jokes (like the Nopon race), but each are self contained. You don’t need to play the others to understand what’s going on, though you should play the other since they are both masterpieces in their own right.

Like some would say in a throw away cutscene, " That Sword and it's wielder look pretty important. They must have accomplished a lot." And that'll be referring to Shulk and the Monado in the first game.
Or they'll call someone Square 'Tache which was the nickname of mean (and hilarious) drill sergeant in the first game.

I finally pre-ordered the Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Collectors Edition today. Don't really have the money for it at release BUT the store I pre-ordered from surprisingly gives an option to pay on the last day of January next year with a 0% interest rate! It's too good! I'm very excited for the game.
There is one thing I'm missing from my Switch and it's another big single-player game, especially huge open world JRPG. I spent hundreds of hours on BotW but I need one with a classic RPG gameplay and here comes Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to deliver what I'm missing! I'm so excited!

10/10 game of the year
I'm so stoked. The VA seems pretty good, too. The emotion was conveyed well. While we've seen the premise of this story before, it looks like it will rely on having a character-driven story, which is cool. It's why I liked Tales of Symphonia so much.
Oh watching this in 2019 after playing the game twice, they sure show a lot of key scenes in this trailer.
So Xenoblade Chronicles 1 had the theme of the Future and what is to come. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the other hand, focuses on the Past and memories. I'M EXCITED TO SEE WHERE THIS GOES!
It reminds me a lot of Xenogears and how it deals with the past of a certain character I won't mention in case you haven't played it. Its up there with Xenoblade story wise. Not in the exact same way but it does remind me quite a lot about that.

This trailer may provide some story details, but there are still so many questions that I can't help but laugh at the people who want to claim this is just going to be a generic Japanese anime story. Some of the many questions we don't have answers to:
What happened to Pyra in the past as part of that Aegis war that many of the antagonists have been talking about?
What is the story behind Pyra and Mythra? Are they 2 blades in one? Alter Egos of each other?
How did Rex even come into contact with Pyra in the first place?
Why do all of the other nations in this world want the Aegis and what are their motivations?
What is Elysium and why does Pyra want to go there?
What happens when a Titan dies?
Why do each of the supporting characters decide to stay with Rex and Pyra?
Who created Pyra (or Blades at all in general) and why is she so powerful?
What is at the bottom of the Cloud Sea?
Will the other nations of this world go to war with one another again over the Aegis as was the case in the past and if they do, will the conflict be a black and white one or will their be a grey area that all of the parties find themselves in where no one is fully right or wrong?
What is the story behind the wolf mask guy (the one who stabs Rex in the first place) and who was that person/blade he was with that was seemingly frozen in ice?
What happens that causes Pyra to go from 'maybe it's sometimes better to forget memories' to 'memories are precious and I don't want to lose them?'
How does Rex develop as a character after being thrust into a situation that he had no control over?
Is Rex going to be a 'Chosen One' or will he be a character that represents the idea of, 'this could have happened to anyone?'
How are the regular people being affected by this potential 2nd Aegis War?
I think people should get the point by now. Just because this story is using a few elements that people may or may not have seen in Anime, does not mean that the entire narrative is there fore generic. Just because a character sets off from home on an adventure, does not mean that said adventure will just be a cookie cutter copy of One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, or Pokemon. It all depends on how the story is crafted and I feel it is insulting to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for people to claim that it's generic when we have barely seen anything from it yet.

I have heard theories that Jin, the wolf mask guy, is perhaps a Xenoblade 1 character maybe even Shulk due to his secrecy and eye colour. If Jin is a Xenoblade 1 character (Shulk) its possible that person who is frozen may be another member of Shulk's original crew, like Fiora for example. Most likely though since Takahashi said that Xeno 2 is not a direct sequel, these theories are probably just pure speculation.
I dunno man... It's true that we don't know everything, but for now everything story-related FEELS incredibly generic. I can't shake of the feeling that if the story was actually any good they would be trying to hint at this quality of the game, instead of throwing trope after trope, as if they really want to hide that the story is utter garbage. I mean this is a trailer for crying out loud, why are you showing me the most generic parts of the game if there's a real story buried in here? Xblade 2 brings a bunch of new elements that we (or at least, I) wish weren't there: cutesy moe, the most generic of lines, and my god too many characters. I mean did you see how many characters are in there? They show one after another after another, trailer after trailer, I seriously doubt they will have any meaningful development save for anime tropes. Don't get me wrong I'll play this game and I love the series, but I don't see how anyone could watch these trailers and not conclude that they gave Xenoblade the Fire Emblem treatment to pander to you-know-whos, which is kind of a shame because Xblade had a nice balance of being just anime enough to be fun, while (mostly) not trope-y enough to make you want to bang your head on the wall! Oh well! "shrug"
Why would you want to know everything from a trailer? Half the fun of seeing the trailer is speculating on what could be. The trailer is supposed to only show the roughest of outlines as to what the final product will be. I also beg to differ on the throwing out tropes point as each of the main characters seem to have very distinct personalities and are definitely hiding complexities to their stories. For example, Riki, the Nopon, is incredibly smart or he could not have built himself an Artificial Blade, but he has a humorous and humanistic side to him as well, as evidenced by the maid scene that has been shown in the sample footage. He definitely is not one-dimensional and I have seen just enough of his personality for me to be interested in how the game rounds out and deepens these quick observations. The complexities of how characters interact are not things I want spoiled in a trailer. The art style is fine and it is just a matter of personal preference if you do not like it as there is nothing objectively bad about it. It is like when the Wind Waker was revealed and Toon Link became a thing. There was nothing wrong with it, it just did not appeal to some people as much as a more realistic art style did for some people. As for giving Xenoblade the Fire Emblem treatment, I say that is most certainly a great thing. Fire Emblem was dying and Awakening was set to be the last game in the series if it did not sell well. Intelligent Systems basically said screw it, if we are going out, we are going out pulling out all the stops and the result was the best selling game in the franchise which saved the series from cancellation and brought in a completely new audience to the series. The Fire Emblem franchise is now one of Nintendo's largest and most beloved properties and is arguably the king of the second tier properties (the ones not named Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, or Metroid). Fire Emblem Awakening was an excellent game that brought many diverse characters together and through the support system gave each of them the opportunity to live and breathe as characters. If Nintendo goes to that length to support the Xenoblade series, I could not be happier despite not being the hugest fan of the battle system. Oh and Nintendo did not just abandon older Fire Emblem fans either as they released Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia this year, a remake of one of the oldest games in the series which stayed true to the design of classic Fire Emblem while still finding room to add and innovate based on some of the things they learned working on the newer games like Fates and Awakening. You are more than welcome to have an opinion, but by that same extension, I am also allowed to question whether or not that opinion happens to be a strong one or not.
Yeah I think I just expect something different from a trailer, something that's less about showing cutscene after cutscene introducing a million characters and instead trying to "build" up to something. Like just showing a single really interesting hand made cutscene, which I agree may not fit this type of game so much but personally it would interest me a lot more. I guess what I really mean is that the reason why I loved the original Xblade (apart from the incredible environments and OST) was how it felt like they were just on the fringe of being anime, and even though the themes, the huge swords, the mechas, a lot of it was anime influenced (and they def. crossed the line when they switched villains and headed to space, that was just too much for me) overall it felt like they tried to keep the story grounded (again they didn't always succeed). Now, personally, I don't really like how they seem to not really be trying to "hold back" the anime in this iteration. I have nothing against the art style, and I agree that if Nintendo treats Xblade like FE it will increase the playerbase that Xblade really does deserve. I just highly doubt the story will be somethings that fits my taste this time around, and I'm kind of banking on everything else being great (which it likely will be)
