Man, the amount of nostalgia I have for this trailer and game is immense. I truly do miss these times, so damn much. No matter what anyone says, the Wii U era was a special time for me.

Couldn't agree more. What an absolute masterpiece. Man, the amount of nostalgia I have for this presentation is immense. I truly do miss these times, so damn much. No matter what anyone says, the 2015 - 2016 Wii U era was a special, different time for me.
Same thoughts here. From time to time I just have to rewatch the trailer and the most fascinating thing is that it did not lie to us. The final product had everything in it. Still a reason to own a Wii U.
The original dead island trailer had a lot of gravity at the time. Other games didnt market themselves like that.
Sort of reminds me to that metroid other m teaser were Samus is walking around the Federation. That one was also sick.
This trailer set the standard for my expectations. Nothing before, and nothing since, has blown me away the way that this trailer did. And the game held up to the promise.
I hope MonolithSoft tries to make a game like this again

My favorite wii u game, unfortunately, it was built heavy on the wii u gamepad. Still, I hope for a 2nd chance on switch (farming materials for the last skells without online co-op is nuts in this game)

I saw a silhouette of a ball figure from the beach shores of Oblivia. Just for the heck of it, I began flying over there thinking it was probably something out of bounds. About 2 minutes later, the textures started forming. I could see large mountains, and a massive ball looking structure rested on top those mountains. I found myself in Sylvalum. I flew on top of this ball, parked my skell, and sat down looking in the direction I came from.

I cried real tears to this trailer after I got my skell license. It's one of the most iconic scenes in the game lol.

The best part is that it takes really long and it's really hard to get. It makes finally doing it so much better. Or getting an Ares 90, it's an amazing feeling of accomplishment.

Looking at this trailer, the most amazing thing I see is just how little changed in terms of locations or designs between this and the final game. It's one of the rare, wonderful times that everything promised in an early trailer is actually given to us in the final game
Well the graphics got downgraded and this cutscene isent nearly as nice in the actual game...though aside from that yeah your pretty much squeeing when this cutscene happens
+Zeke Blane (shadavar) Yeah, but the graphical change is normal for an E3 trailer. Most E3 trailers that have gameplay tend to have portions they show that are cut out or drastically altered in the main game; Kingdom Hearts 2's original trailer had an entire cutscene that was not in the original game, for example.
And yeah, when I got to that part in the game, I was like "...no way... they're not going to do a frame-by-frame nod to the trail- THEY ARE! WEEEEE!"
+Doomerang01 While not as deceptive as many other trailers, I do notice X's trailers focused a lot on skells and exploration when these things are only a fraction of the whole game experience. Considering how long it takes to get a skell and how frustrating exploring the world can be without one, that was maybe a little misleading. But then if the trailer were completely honest, the amazing trailer music would be intermittently stopped as a monster 20 levels above them chases them half way across the world. :P

Coming back all this time later, it's quite interesting to hear The Key We've Lost considering they ultimately used that track for the final boss fight lmao
It's also cool to see that much of the terrain was finalized by that point, the geography and layouts seem nearly identical to the final game
Also interesting to see that the Zu Pharg must have been one of their oldest ideas; would have been interesting to fight it in Cauldros instead of Sylvalum, but oh well
All these years later, hundreds of hours into the game, and even still, this trailer just takes my breath away

I found my personal reason to own a Wii U. This, Nintendo.. is what you need to impress. Not the hundreds of Mario Spin-Offs. Start heavily advertising this game, and I GUARANTEE you will see Wii U units sell like hot cakes.

Like theyre arent even a total of 100 mario games. shoot maybe slightly over 50 and thats over the course of 30 years. thats a long as time you guys overexaggerate mario. This game kickstarted my mechamania.
I didn't know anything about Xenoblade or Monolith Soft when this trailer was released. I might have seen it back then, but I probably gave it no attention. As of today, I've played and enjoyed all three existing Xenoblade games, XCX is my favorite video game of all time, and I'm so starved for XCX content that I typed "elma xenoblade" into the UA-cam search bar and ended up back here. I've truly come full circle.
Edit: I have found my way back here once more in 2023. I now have another Xenoblade game under my belt, and boy, did I love it. Xenoblade 3 is now my second favorite video game. X is still first. I'm still hoping I get to see the day where it's freed from its Wii U prison.
Edit 2: So Future Redeemed just connected this game to the numbered ones. It's been eight years, but there's finally hope for this game to be freed!

It's wild that Sawano had all this music written a full 3 years before the game launched in North America
The fact that we're all pushing this video to the million views makes me stupidly happy, like there's already a sense of community about this game we're dying to play
But there is indeed this "sense of community". Great games/IPs like Takahashi's Xeno titles have this kind of impact. Let's do our part so that we see this community growing larger and more solid than ever.

Anybody else really curious as to why there's a giant percentage on a building going from 60% to 59%? I want to know if it's part of a countdown until the planet is unlivable.

Xenobalde Chronicles and Hiroyuki Sawano are the 2 most important things in my life. When I saw the new Xenoblade X Trailer with Sawanos godmusic, I was literally about to pass out. No joke. My love for nintendo reached new heights after this announcement. Thanks for making this a reality, Nintendo.

i bought Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, Now brings this to Nintendo Switch. also wanted to support the Devs. Heck even bought the DLC For XC 2.
One of the reasons why I prefer wii u over x1 and ps4, not just this game but the wii u library in general is so darn exciting to me, if monster hunter 4 comes to wii u in america that will make my brain explode from hype

dylanius aurelius Actually, it was confirmed that Monolith and Nintendo are localizing the game along development. Plus in the American E3 direct, Iwata announced it for 2014. So X will most likely drop in 2014 unless there's some unexpected delay.

This Bayonetta 2 smash bros mario kart are the 4 games I am looking forward to this year.
If you look closely, you can recognize certain landmarks.
Like the big iron gate or whatever it is in the background at 1:07. It appears in the scene right after, but in a completely different environment. And the strange rocky structure at 1:14 can be seen multiple times in both trailers.
And if you pause at 1:18, just before the clip ends, you can see a greener-looking landscape in the far distance, which could be the areas that have been shown off earlier. And in the last clip where it zooms out, you can also see the city and the background, along with that weird rock structure again.
I dunno if anyone even cares about minute details like that, but for me, it's a fun way of kinda puzzling the world together and see how things may be connected.

MujuraNoKamen2012 I'd imagine quite a lot, seeing as how all they're showing here is from the first two areas. Three if you count that alien-looking place, but I have a feeling that's more of a story segment than anything. Kinda like the Galahad Fortress.

This was THE game that made me buy my Wii U. I was already considering one for SMT x Fire Emblem (we see how that turned out), Splatoon, Smash, 3D World, Lost World and Bayonetta 2.

Here's what I've gathered from the trailers I've watched.
1. This does NOT continue off of the Xenoblade: Chronicles story of Shulk and Co.
2. There seems to the same combat as Chronicles, but with giant robots AND on foot.
3. NOPONS
4. The story is a little bit similar, as a person seems to be taking a stand against a stronger race that is bent on destroying humanity.
5. It's more Sci-Fi than Sci-Fi-Fantasy
It's been confirmed as a spiritual sequel. Hope that helps!

Just so you guys know the wife of the producer of this game Tetsuya Takahashi said to prepare for a lot of big news about this game at E3. I'm predicting a official title, a release date, new trailer and online multiplayer.
The game is online co-op...and I bet X will be the final name lol.

Seeing as AI is never called Player lol. Player means the actual player. Now while its true we dont know if thats local or online...but to be honest 4 player local like that on 1 TV would be terrible...split screen and such...just no lol.
OriginalBloodAce I'm sure they didn't want to reveal character names or info yet, ergo Player 1,2, etc. The AI moved way too much in sync in the trailers to be actual human players. While there may be multiplayer, these trailers don't guarantee it.
AgentJarelo In sync? There were different characters all moving around consistently...its like the gameplay they showed fighting the big ape, also why have 4 mech's on a cliff at once...so 4 people can choose between them.

They have FF XV, which you can't play on the Wii U... One of my biggest disappointments so far.

After searching for a long time, I finally found (the only copy of) Xenoblade Chronicles at Gamestop during Black Friday, where I got it for $40! I had played it before, but now I'm glad to have gotten my own copy!
