Hey everyone! One thing I forgot to cover in this video is how I switch between using the Macbook and PC. I use the UGREEN USB switch as a shared peripheral hub, where I plug in my keyboard, mouse, and desktop speakers. For added power, I have a 5V external adapter plugged into the switch to ensure proper power is fed to the switch. The switch is located near the back of the desk - it's still easily accessible, but remains hidden from plain view. The Macbook is connected to the switch via the CalDigit TS4, and the PC itself is connected to the switch directly. So when I switch between the Macbook and PC, I use the switch, and then do a manual input swap on the monitor. It would have made things a bit easier if my monitor had a built in KVM, but this is how I've been doing things for a while now. I have the USB switch linked in the description, in case you're interested in it - in my opinion, it's a great product. Hopefully this helps! Cheers, and thank you for watching.
I just wanted to say, thanks for the warning at the start of the video, Many of these videos do not consider the prices and they just put the most expensive stuff in your face, making you feel like you need these things and they might get you into debt. Thanks for being thoughtful about it.
Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for watching. There are a lot of setups that on social media that I admire and that have inspired me to show mine on UA-cam, so this means a lot. Cheers!
I am actually glad to see a smaller office setup because this is about the exact same size I am working with and it's nice to know there is still plenty of room to enjoy the space and use it without feeling too constrained, I like that a lot. I am definitely taking notes!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for letting me know it helped you out! Part of the purpose of this video was definitely to give others some idea of what can be done in a small office. You have to be fairly picky about what you put in it, that's for sure! Glad you enjoyed the video, and good luck with your setup!
@@TwoByteThomas You're welcome! ☺ I absolutely agree with you. With a smaller space you have to be more conscientious with what occupies that space. I've definitely gotten more ideas of what I'm looking to get out of the small space to keep it flowing well. Thank you so much!! I'm excited to get started! I move into this space next month so I'm a bit nervous but also excited to get a more dedicated work from home space. I been using a cheap fold out table and my recliner as an office space 🤣
As long as you’re happy you’ve already won! Thank you for the kind words and thank you for the continued support. Good luck with the rest of your setup! 🙏
Nice setup man! I don't know if you know this, and if you do, ignore me. You don't need a Cloud lifter because phantom power won't go through it from the Wave XLR to the mic. At least that's how I understand it. You're a software engineer, so please correct me if I am wrong! Thanks for an awesome video and new ideas for my setup!
🔥 I'm currently in the process of building a home office, and I'll be using videos such as this one for inspiration to finish the interior, once it's been built. I really enjoyed it. Awesome job.
What a fantastic setup man. This really inspire me to develop and create my own desk setup. Creating a desktop is a journey and Im excited to see how it will turn out in the future.
Setup is fire! I'm just starting my upgrade journey and I know it's going to take about a year to save the money and build out. And I'm all about this warn cozy vibe!
Thanks Jarrod, I appreciate the kind words! Definitely, I can’t live without the TS4 now. 🙏 I love the Air, I’ve been considering getting the new 15 inch version!
🔥 New Subscriber here, love the desk set up and I'm building my first high end one. Now I need to check out that chair, even though I'm concerned on the price before I even see the video LOL. Nice job on the video, sound and music bed. A+
The color scheme is excellent, If you don't mind, can you post the HEX code for the color you used for the theme? Namely HUE light lighting and PC fan color. Or the RGB values are just as good.
Hey Thomas, great setup! As a software engineer do you find yourself wishing you had multiple monitors, or does the size of your one monitor mitigate that for you? I also work from home and use a 24” monitor and a 2nd 21” for multitasking but I find myself longing for the simplicity of one monitor. It just looks so much cleaner.
Hey - thanks! I've updated my monitor setup on this desk since this video was made, going back to a single ultrawide monitor. At the moment, I prefer a single ultrawide monitor for work (specifically 38") as I find one monitor helps me focus better on the task at hand. The added bonus of cable management being cleaner with a single monitor is great, too.
Hey Brian, you can't use the Macbook directly as a secondary monitor for the PC since the laptop ports are all output. There are some ways around it, like using a capture card or even network based solutions but I'm not well versed in those, so I won't comment on them. If you're interested in using an Apple device as a secondary monitor, then you can use an iPad with Sidecar, which works great. As far as the Mac and PC setup, I specifically use that to divide work and gaming. I much prefer MacOS for software development, and I also use the laptop for content creation.
Yeah, the chair only really differs with the design (cyan back, Logitech branded seat) and the copper infused foam, both reasons why I opted for this version. Other than that, they are effectively identical. I do have a dedicated review of the chair on my channel if you're interested in my full thoughts on it. Thanks for watching!
Hey Derek great question. The 60 is a good size for most I would say. If you do want a PC tower on the desk though I would recommend the 72, which is something I have thought about upgrading to myself for that specific reason. But apart from that, the 60 has been enough room for me thus far. I find that either way the 30 inch depth is great as I can have the monitor farther back.
Hi! Your setup is top notch! May I ask that don't you have interference problems with your right speaker when your GPU is under heavy load? I bought a kanto YU4 speaker and my 4090 crushes it when I run some games. Thinking in to downgrade to a pair of YU2 if that would solve this issue, since I would use a subwoofer anyway.
Hey there, unfortunately it’s no longer available as far as I can tell on Displate. I’m not sure why. And I appreciate the kind words. Thank you for watching! 🍻
Hey Connor, thanks man - I appreciate it! I’m not sure if there is a specific process - Grovemade reached out to me after seeing my videos. Other than of course featuring the products in the video itself, which I use anyway, they have never given me criteria or placed restrictions on what I can say, so they’ve been wonderful to work with. I also had been using their products for quite a while before that. Hope this helps!
Hey there, nope it sits directly on the carpet. This is a good question though, because in colder, less humid weather there can be times where a lot of static charge is in the air. Anti static mats could help, but I just never added one to the setup. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! That's a good question - right now, I only really sit down and play video games off camera once a week (if I can). I don't get a lot of time to play video games these days, but creating these videos gives me an excuse to at least play a bit more often than I'm usually able to. Thank you for watching!
Do you swap inputs on the monitor control panel when you want to switch between the PC and Macbook and how are you using a single mouse for both of them?
Good question, I forgot to cover that in this video. I currently use the UGREEN USB Switch to switch between the PC and Macbook, which I have tucked away near the back of the desk. I have the TS4 plugged into the switch for the Macbook side, so my Macbook can access the peripherals there. On the switch itself I currently have my keyboard, mouse, and speakers plugged in. To summarize, the Macbook accesses the peripherals through the TS4 connection to the switch on one side, and the PC through its direct connection to the switch on the other side. I do have the exact switch linked in the description, so that combined with this reply hopefully helps answer your question! Thanks for watching.
How do you switch between Mac and PC? With my current setup I need to transfer all my peripherals over and unplug the monitor cable from my mac. Huge pain and it looks terrible with all the cables.
Hey there - please see my pinned comment on this video. I forgot to cover that in the video itself but left an explanation on it there. If you have any other questions please let me know!
Yeah, the monitor arm is clamped over the light strip, which doesn't cause any issues for me. The Philips Hue strip has a protective plastic layer on top of the LEDs themselves, so that helps cushion against the monitor arm.
