An empty coffin is always covered (when in transit) by a purple pall. So I also believe that it's probably a veteran's coffin being brought to the Guards' Chappell, probably for a service on the morrow. Any flowers would be placed on the coffin in the morning. Not always necessarily practice at night although it's common for the queens funeral days before they practiced day and night. Each royal family member has an operation code name so for the queen it was operation London bridge (has fallen for the news) and for king Charles iii it Operation Menai Bridge although there are several versions of this depending when they may pass one for Scotland, Wales Northern Ireland and London and things could change any time.
In the documentary "Guarding the Queen" out of 2009 i think, we can see the Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards rehearsing the funeral of a fallen Grenadier. They also rehearse this with a coffin outside of the buildings at Wellington Barracks. Sadly that is a part of the life as soldiers. It is rly unlikely that a member of the royal family has passed away. The rehearsals for an event like that would be different and bigger anyways, i believe :D
ALL the main Royals have to make their funeral plans . Even Diana had made hers, her hymns, reading, music, anthems and guests theyd invite.( this of course for all royals has to be updated on a very regular basis) The Queen Mother, who was just shy of 102 when she still lived at Clarence House ( which she left to Charles and Camilla) like to get up at 4 am sometimes ,to watch her funeral rehearsals. The guards will be used for working royals in smaller funerals it’s not just be State Funerals.

Its possibly a rehearsal for king Charles funeral, they used to practise The Queens funeral many many times so they were ready for when it really happened.
The coffin didn't have any flowers on it - which is pretty unusual - so assuming that there's nobody in side. Also royals aren't generally transported in the back of a hearse (usually a gun carriage) or a custom built land rover in the Duke of Edinburgh's case (what a classy guy). They tend to practice with the carriages and horses in any case. Hearses are only used for long distance travel (out of London) or to a resting in state place for visitors to pay homage.

May not of been rehearsal but a funeral of a veteran at the guard’s chapel.
No flowers on the coffin so doubt it more likely practice for Operation Menai Bridge

Would have the Union flag draped over it.
Possibly rehearsal for Operation Menai Bridge.

If a member of the Royal Family had passed, it would've been worldwide news within hours.

The funeral would have been at St.Georges Chapel anyway.
