- Cold Waters is a cold war era submarine sim from developers KIllerfish Games in which players take command of a nuclear submarine and negotiate the dangerous waters of the Arctic and North Atlantic in a cold war gone hot scenario. It is available for purchase on steam here:

I am using Dotmod, which adds a number of new submarines including playable Soviet and British subs, as well as various gameplay and campaign improvements. You can find it here:

I would love to see another Cold Waters career mode! I loved your HMS Trafalgar play through and actually got me to play Cold Waters again. War on the Sea could be a lot of fun to watch you play as well, especially if you bring your story aspect that you always manage to do with your cold water campaigns. looking forward to whatever you decided on playing! Keep up the awesome content!
That hit to the aft of the ship looked like one of the missiles you shot down landed home anyway.45:54
That had me rolling. CIWS managed to ruin the missile but it crashed into his fat Soviet ass anyways. Shame he was switched cameras to looking at another ship as soon as it hit him too, the reaction would've been great.
@@The1337guy1 Yeah I had to do a double take when he showed the hole in the aft of the ship. I was like wait......yeeaah the MF'r hit anyway!😆
Killer fish should make a Cold Waters 2. This game is such a great spiritual successor to Red Storm Rising. Glad the mods are still breathing life into it.
There is a game called Sea Power coming soon.
@@ArchangelsSword yeah it has less emphasis on subs and more focused on naval combat as a whole in the 1960s-80s. You command an entire fleet of either Warsaw or NATO instead of just one ship
Whatever hud tweak you're using to arrange the control panels in that manner is breaking the towed array and flight control panels (they were changed in the most recent Dotmod update that added Nixie and any hud edits made for prior versions won't work unless patched accordingly).
You can fix it yourself if you go to StreamingAssets/dotmod/hud and change the config files.
Your series was great I hope to seem more on the channel. The narrative you create is very captivating
As much fun as the tension is, this was very fun to just be a big, loud Soviet surface ship shooting as soon as you get a hint of an enemy ship, good fun.
Interesting note, although the RBU-6000 is rocket powered on a similar principle to Hedgehog… the Hedgehog launcher was based on the principle of the spigot mortar, the same as the British infantry anti-tank weapon, the PIAT. The updated version of RBU-6000, the RPK-8 launches guided rockets, that can seek their target underwater!!! Scary biscuits!!!
Perfect timing, my game just ended. Always happy to see my current favorite UA-camr upload. I'll watch this in a little bit.
Man... those rip-roaring defense guns were something else! I can't imagine being an actual sailor in proximity to one of those...
Thanks for this. I fully concur with your War on the Sea idea. For me, though, a perfect game would be to command Operation Pedestal.
47:03 Yea, when you clicked to see the sinking ship, the missile you had just shot down hit you.
Does Dotmod or Cold Waters have a ship list somewhere I can view? I'm curious if the New Jersey is floating around in there.
The Iowa-Class 1980s refit is in EpicMod and I think also in Dotmod. Basically a large swimming fortress blistering with Harpoon and Tomahawk launchers and CIWS, plus the gigantic WW2 main battery
@@eriklinkogel3458 Awesome. I have a bit of a soft spot for the NJ. I guess Cold Waters can go on my "to play" list with War on the Sea.
Cold waters is incredible for emergent storytelling, and your videos take that potential and run with it. easily some of the best content available on youtube right now. If you're interested in WWII naval combat, may I suggest Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts? It isn't much of a simulator and has some fairly basic mechanics compared to WoTS and CW, so might not really be ideal for a youtube series. Fantastic fun, though, and has a full historical campaign mode that lets you take command of a nation's full navy over decades, so that might give you your big naval guns fix. (and if anyone could make a compelling narrative series on it, it'd be you!)
I do play a lot of Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts in my spare time actually! Still kind of waiting for them to keep improving it some more before I think about doing a series with it on the channel though
My grandfather was part of the crew of a Soviet nuclear submarine in the 60's, so I wonder where'd he'd be in this scenario. He was in the Pacific fleet so probably not very close to where the game takes place.
All this stuff is really getting me excited for Sea Power.
My favorite is to use the krivok frigate to hunt subs. Has the same problem against surface ships but it is damn good at hunting subs.
Please make a career with soviet surface ships!
War on the Sea in the Mediterranean sounds fun too.
Sadly they don't have a Mediterranean campaign in the game, but I'm hoping they add it some day!
@@SorcererDave Fingers crossed.
Thanks Dave.
I'm guessing the lack of incoming Harpoons from the subs was due to minimum range? Trafalgar had that problem too.
Is there any chance that you can play a Ticonderoga vs 2-3 Typhoons? On the basis the Typhoon double titanium hull and massive size ought to make them difficult to sink. Please and thank you.
Do you Plan on doing a Soviet Sub Campaign in the future?
You should definitely do some more surface combat with a few of the NATO ships again. The Iowa class is available and it has the biggest guns, makes the Sverdlov look puny in comparison.
i tried this before and its got limited sam defence. Really easy to get overwhelmed by missiles making it kinda useless
A war on the sea play through....? Maybe.....!!!
AMAZINGNES!!! MORE!!!
Are we going to get an alfa class campaign? You know. Just an idea. Because lol speed submarine.
Is this in Mission editor ?
Your awesome
Is this dotmod?
RBU 6000 is still in use in NATO, Poland.
Could go hunting subs with the Moskva in the 1968 campaign.
Would personally absolutely love another NATO campaign, easy to cheer for :)
Too bloody easy to play though! Can't touch the american subs these days, they're downright boring! :P
Is for console for Playstation 5 and for xbox series x too looks cool
Pretty lame encounter but I suspect it has more to do with the mod than incompetence on the part of the AI. Given the capabilities of those submarines, there's no way it could've approached within 6000kyds to fire its RBU. That Kara would've been dead before it even detected any sonar threats.
I find the problem with sub-hunting as the player is that the enemy subs start banging on active sonar when they really don't need to, and it makes them much too easy to locate and drop ordnance on. The default game doesn't feature player-controlled surface ships so I don't think the devs ever programmed the AI to behave appropriately.
