    Isn't it strange that Jeep tells us it's a lifetime fluid, but ZF, the transmission manufacturer recommends service every 40-60K miles. 🤔 Thanks FCA!

    Just to confirm, to get the correct fluid level you first fill to overflow, cycle the transmission through R, D1 & D2 twice then leave running in P and fill to overflow a 2nd time?

    I recently did the trans fluid amd filter on a 2011 BWM X5 ZF8speed. This looks to be the same or similar variation transmission. Where did you get your instructions from? ZF recommends filling then running through the gears and getting to temp (specific temperature range escapes me now) which I used a scan tool to confirm amd made sure it was filled at that temp. Are you able to confirm if this is different for the transmission in the Jeep JL/JT?

    • @tobisreallifeskillswithtobi
      @tobisreallifeskillswithtobi  2 місяці тому

      As much as I know this ZF transmission is similar if not the same. Bit sure about age, model etc. but heard it is similar since it seems to be the same manufacturer.

    I have a Jeep Wrangler JLU 2019 I did the same process you did but the dealer said that I need a 9 quartz but it’s already full when it came to 5 - 6 quartz I tried to refill it more but it won’t let me refill the rest of my transmission fluid. It will just overflow. I did the cycle also but still

    • @tobisreallifeskillswithtobi
      @tobisreallifeskillswithtobi  23 дні тому

      The additional quarts are in the torque converter which can only be emptied or flued changed with an entire transmission flush. According to the dealer there is no need to change the Trans fluid. Not sure if a dealer will do a transmission flush at all?? I hope this clarifies the remaining quarts ;-)

    In the UK, for 9 liters of the Mopar gearbox fluid it costs a whopping £252 + VAT (£28+VAT per litre). Wondering which oil Mopar uses and if it can be sourced more reasonably ?

    • @tobisreallifeskillswithtobi

      I would say it depends on how many miles you have on your Jeep already or how old your car is. The gasket which was on the Jeep from the factory was white for example and I'm happy I did replace it for piece in mind.

    Got quoted $163 for dealer trans filter gasket kit, does that sound right for what you paid? Seem overly inflated. Even the fluid was quoted $36.28 per quart. Don’t buy retail at dealer.
    Just for curiosity, asked for trans service at dealer and got quoted $750- $800. Not even a final number, just range from service advisor. Power steering fluid was $47.85. Everything is just getting out of hand. Affordability wise.
