great video. I put this exact Lantac NiB e-bcg in my first AR and it's been great after these first 1000+ rounds. What would be your pick for a quality premium BCG?
What is the min/max measurement fafe to face for a AR10 308 bolt carrier, not including the bolt? I have one that is 7.86". I think its too long because my bolt catch doesn't lock the bolt back in the open position.
Going to be honest, you should manufacture bcgs. I don't know if any one has ever told you but you would make a killing selling reliable good quality parts for ARs.
So my only question is after measuring the carrier they measured all yellow which is a pass but not great for gas seal. That being said isn't the exact measurement of the bolt in the carrier what will really determine the ability to seal? So what I am asking is if the bolt body is a little larger wouldn't that change the overall clearance & gas sealing? I think this is a good question. Some may say, "duh, you obviously want the most gas efficiency possible"... but what if your upper if fitted with, say, an overgassed carbine-length barrel? Is it a bad thing for a little gas to escape through tiny gaps here and there due to those looser tolerances?

That's what they're specifically designed for. The "lower" tolerance for gas efficiency is there for all the crap being blown back while firing suppressed. If it were super tight it may cause an issue with so much back pressure. It's gotta have some room to breathe.
@@EarthAltar I think what you're saying totally makes sense. My question is, was this really an intentional design choice by Lantac, or just the chance result of using a cheaper/lower quality bolt inside their proprietary carrier?
@@thegreatshitstain I have two. One for .308, and one for .223. They are by no means "cheap". What I was referring to with the "enhanced" version (they also make a standard version) is that they are specifically designed to be used with a suppressor. They are ported differently than other BCG's to keep as much gas out of your face as possible. The lower tolerance on the bolt itself is probably by design for this system. Even without a suppressor they run like a bat out of hell. Believe me. I have zero complaints with either of mine.
@@EarthAltar I understand what you were referring to; hence, me writing that I agreed with your line of thinking. I have one as well (5.56/Nitride) that sees both suppressed and unsuppressed use. It's been fine... Of course for the price, it should be. But something that deserves being pointed out: the E-BCG really consists of an "enhanced" bolt carrier and cam pin design, but not an "enhanced" bolt. The carrier itself, with it's geometry and larger ports, does a great job of venting gas and keeping that gas moving towards the muzzle. The domed cam pin may or may not be anything special. I believe that the pin is optimized for use in Lantac's own upper receiver, which has slightly different geometry in the cam pin recess/raceway. But the bolt that comes in the group is not high-pressure tested (HPT) before magnetic particle inspection (MPI). I'm not saying the lack of HPT automatically means it's a crummy bolt; it may (and probably will) last thousands and thousands of rounds before failure. That being said, most "high end" AR manufacturers use bolts which have passed both HPT and MPI; and those bolts (at least from the few examples I've seen on SOTAR) seem to also have tighter tolerances. Not arguing for or against Lantac's design choices, just trying to play devil's advocate.
@@thegreatshitstain I hear ya, and often wondered myself about the testing. If SOTAR has taught us anything though it's that any part can fail, especially the bolt. All I can say is check headspace and look for improper wear. We're throwing these parts together from different manufacturers, and it's a miracle they function at all. Lol.

Chad what are your thoughts on the POF roller cam pin conversion for DI guns?
My POF bcg feels and sounds smoother than my other milspec bcg's. Im waiting on the conversion kits to come in to swap them over. Others would do it but POF has a patient on it.
Didn't measure the bolt shoulder
Any opinion on using that Lantac BCG with a suppressor?
Lol.
Where do you get those test gauges ?
I wonder the same. I’ve seen some on brownells but there’s multiple brands.
2:39 is it just me or does the left hole not really look nicely deburred… sponsored product?
What makes this bolt carrier group gas inefficient? Too much gas being vented or too little?
Have you ever tested a f1 bcg
Can I use this lantac ebcg to a gas piston ar15?
No.
Can u make a test also on the F1 durabolt and cryptic coatings bcg... trying to choose between those
