and thanks for putting out quality products that are AFFORDABLE! I was between LMT and AP and only leaning to LMT because they have the angled gas ports to blow suppressor gas away from your face. If Aero Precision makes an enhanced-PRO BCG basically adding the angled gas ports I would definitely purchase nothing but AP BCG's for every build! Is there any change this is already being discussed at Aero???

You kept shutting the demagnetizer off with the firing pin near it. That magnetizes it. Need to slide away and keep it away before you turn off.

I had one of the Aero nickle BCG's and had an issue with the bolt. I contacted them and they sent me a 2day shipping label. Once they got it they confirmed the issue and replaced it.
I had the replacement within a week and it now runs perfect.
Sometimes customer service is everything when or if you need it.
This issue showed me I made the right decision buying Aero and will continue because of that alone.

I worked in a radio station and “erased” commercial cart magnetic tape every day. An engineer taught me that the bulk of the demagnetization occurs when the object leaves the magnetic field. Instead of just sliding, add oval loops while moving left to right (like a bi-plane at an air show) so that the field is broken in multiple patterns.

I’m glad to know many of us in the firearms community are starting to notice terrible QC issues from low to top tier companies. I’ve had terrible luck with LMT and HDSI in 2021 including this year. However, my boring Colt M4 Carbine’s made 2018 and before don’t have any QC issues. I was going to sell them, but now realizing it’s probably best to keep them!

There's another guy that has 100s of bcg. Most used to failure or with problems. He says the best is phosphate chrome lined. The coatings on most bcg make them out of spec. If not he usually sees chipping happen more frequently and sooner on the bolt face with mitride and especially nickel boron. Amick with the original.

I have to thank you for the educational value and professional presentation of your videos. I have a Springfield Saint .300 blk pistol that I have not even fired yet. I recently put a Q 7" tapered shoulder barrel on it for when my e-form 4 clears and I install a Trash Panda. Watching your videos has given me much needed insight. I have been examining various things as I gain knowledge and today 2/14/22 while examining things very close, I discovered the ejector roll pin was not seated correctly and was protruding out one side to the point where it has been making contact with the barrel extension lugs. I had to buy a few more things as being a retired professional mechanic doesn't mean I have the specific tools needed for gunsmithing, but I did buy what I needed to compress the ejector in and the correct punches, both of which I lacked. Edited 2/24/2022 To me this is just almost crazy. I had to wait to get a few more items, including my new 4oz hammer, the Brownells ejector tool, because that other thing I bought was crap, some specific punches and some new ejector roll pins. I also got my new Clymer go no/go gauges. In removing the ejector after removing the pin, the ejector was rather stuck and I had to grab it with some needle nose and really pull. After it came out and examining it with close-up magnified goggles, I discovered metal filings had been stuck in the ejectors slot for the roll pin then fell free once the ejector was pulled out. It was slightly magnetic and had some damaged edges from the filings which I cleaned up with a tiny file and made all nice but I was like, I'll be damned! I don't have a demagnetiser so it's just going to have to be for now but the go no gauges worked slick and the bolt carrier didn't lock forward on the no/go gauge but did with the go gauge.

To an extent it kind of doesn't matter anyways.
Two companies, company A and B, can both buy BCGs from an OEM, like Toolcraft, for example. Both companies have differnt contracts. Both have different prices, specs, and acceptable tolerances. BCGs from company A are therefore different from BCGs from company B even though both are made by that particular OEM.

Just a thought on demag'ing parts. The demagnetizer uses 60 cycles, standard Alternating Current frequency, to create a magnetic field that reverses 60 times a second. It you power down the device while still holding the part close by it you get that last, final magnetic field pulse and can actually magnetize the part you are trying to demag'. Move the part away from the machine and the demag' should hold.

I recently had a Aero Precision 308AR BCG with something wrong on the firing pin finish. It was mottled/splotchy in appearance and did not slide smoothly in the bolt right out of the box. Return was easy and replacement was fine. Headspace was tight enough that it would not close on GO gauge in a “match” chamber (read very tight). Barrel maker said it was less than 1 thousandth off and reamed the chamber very slightly for me. I am not complaining about the headspace - bolt and barrel makers were both trying to make it tight and tolerance stacking bit me.

P.S. I just bought one of Aero's HPT/MPI tested phosphate/chrome-lined BCG with a 158 Carpenter bolt marked "MPI": it is not marked as being HPT'ed either. This was primarily based upon your BCG coatings video, BTW. Im a dealer and I've had LMT bcg groups that were all over the place dimensionally. Some tight some loose.
I've had many LMT uppers with canted front sight bases(18 out of 25)
The BCM uppers have been mostly good but I did get one BCM upper with an out of spec upper reciever the way it mounted to the lower.
I also had a BCM gas key that was buggered up right at the opening where the key meets the gas tube. So too tier manufacturers are not always good.

Wish I could say the same for Ballistic Advantage. In process of sending back my AR10 308 barrel and bcg. Bolt would not close on a clymer GO gauge. Unfortunately didn’t have the gauges when I built it. Having problems, bought the gauges and low and behold look what I found. Very disappointed, especially since I called BA when I ordered directly from them if they checked headspace when barrel and bcg purchased together. BA stayed no they don’t, requested they check it for my order, it was assured to me that their products are “in spec”. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, for now.

BA is likely using the same mfg. Who knows if they come from aero or if they get the aero "-no-go" batches. Rebranding in this industry is disgusting we should all advocate for companies being transparent and being up front about who makes stuff. I'm pissed at the garbage responses aero gave me when i asked who made this. I'm returning both of mine just because of their deceit and withholding of information in relation to a life-saving product.

@@thomashanke6750 Hey thanks for the response! Yes it is a shame that QC has dropped. I even bought a Benelli m4 last year that looks like chicom garbage next to my older ones. Its a 2000$ paperweight. I have seen garbage coming from every company up to BCM and DD and Geissle even. The demand needs to not be met by lowering QC. From what I've gathered, all BA parts that are not barrels are Aero's no-go run off or extras which is what allowed that barrel company BBA) to offer the same aero products with a dif name on it. I also understand that all the Aero barrels are made by BA. Who do you think makes these BCGs? Aero commented publicly they are not toolcraft. Their CS team says they "cannot" disclose the mfg'r. Heartbreaking that arms companies are trending to selling their run-offs as rebrands. There should be up front transparency. Guns are now as bad as body armor in this sense. Whats even more pathetic is that people who bought something ignorantly will just get defensive rather than getting mad at the manufacturers that got over on them. People have brand loyalty to companies that are selling other peoples' stuff just with their name on it. All the spartan armor dummies will aggressively defend the brand not even knowing its RMA armor in their carriers.

Aeros builder kits are my go to. I bought one of their complete uppers once and swapped the barrel out to a fn and that thing is a beast. I took the original barrel that came with the upper and put it in my radical budget rifle and the barrel is sub moa. As far as I'm concerned aero is killing it.

I just want to say that some parts being magnetic could be caused from if the manufacturing process uses an electric motor to cut the parts. Even engine machine shops the machinery can make the parts a little magnetic that’s why it’s best practice to demagnetize any parts that have been cut, ground , or machined if any way

The worst bolt carrier I saw while I was active in the business came from brand C. I was struggling to make M4s run with a proprietary nickel boron coating and no lube. After borescoping a couple of carriers and realizing the gas seal surface was rougher than a corncob, we sent pics to the CEO, along with a pic taken inside a brand D carrier. No more bad carriers, and the project went much better.
