this isn’t some kind of coop mode that’s meant to be played with 2 people, it’s called doubles and the step charts are designed to be played by one person across both pads and all 8 arrows. if it were meant for 2 players, how would anyone ever be able to hit 2 pairs at once or any other kind of simultaneous steps that would inevitably come up at the same time on both sides?
You can say art has no real-world value these days because not too many people appreciate it, and just because not too many people appreciate it doesn't mean you suppose to stop just because it has no value. The whole point of doing something and getting good at is because you enjoy it and love doing it not because it has a significant worth.
I imagine this as the opening scene of a movie where the video game morphs into an intergalactic portal that transports the 'chosen one' to a distant battlefield where their unique skill is needed to defeat some evil army that is about to enslave all sentient life. Think 'Last Starfighter' meets 'Happy Feet'.

Yeah, but there are exercises you can do that are also useful talents. Like, actual dancing comes to mind. This guy could have taken actual dance classes, gotten just as much, if not more, exercise, and he would have a talent that he could use without an arcade cabinet or a screen telling him what to do.

Believe it or not, It's easier to play without shoes because you can move freely and alot faster. I enjoy playing with shoes for the "timming" cause the shoes make an "Assist Tick" if you stomp heavy, but when you want to play LVL16+ on DDR or LVL20+ on PumpItUp, it's better without shoes. My sole is hard enough to not get hurt with the screws from the metal pad.
