I've been a huge fan of Pat for years. Tonight is the first time I've heard this song somehow, to me this is the pinnacle of his passion and rage. This song is violent and gorgeous. Every time I listen to him, I never want to sing anything again unless it's that good. He and I smoked a cigarette together outside a show in LA before he went on, and it remains one of the most poignant experiences of my life. Wherever you are Pat, I hope you're giving your magic to the world in a way music wouldn't let you do anymore.
he said that this song is not based on personal experience, he got the inspiration from the russian nihilist movement in the 19th century. just thought you might find it interesting.
Any old time is a good time for some Pat. I found him the summer of 2014. My daughter was in Swedish Hospital recovering from having a brain tumour removed and like just a few days after she got out...my 21 year old autistic son broke his back. So you've probably figured out by now Im ancient..yes I'm a 55 year old gramma🧓 That was one tough fubar summer..but I heard this angel sing and I forgot for a little while about my troubles and instead thought about his 🧐😆😂🤣 it helped get me thru the day ...I hope he's living his best life now...but I miss him sometimes.😞
He is sober now or really religious or something and off the grid completely his brother made a post about it a few years ago if u Google it u will find it
I got into pat the bunny a few years back, but no matter how many times i hear this song it hits me the same way. I come back to it every now and then, and I just think.
I feel this! The chord progression is always really easy on Pat's songs but he uses really unique strum patterns that change frequently, makes it a pain in the ass to learn.
Came to this world a loaded handgun, firing at random. Hit the people who were closest, not the ones who deserved it and some of them still don't talk to me. Can't say I blame them for a second. I'll try to aim more carefully, but it's too late for that, I reckon, but not too late for regret. I'll walk barefoot and smoke inside any chance I get, but in the mean time: come on, let's go for a ride like we used to. Pistols drawn, screaming "liberty or death," although I think we wanted both somehow--but we'll take the cash instead. Stack it high, my friend, until it reaches to the sky, and us and god can call it even, and look each other in the eyes like you did to the county prosecutor. Told him that you were the shooter, but they'd never take you alive. Grabbed his pen, and stabbed him in the eye, ran off never to be seen again. When they strike, hit back harder. If you can't just hit back meaner. Everybody's got a name, and an address, and fragile bones to protect what's beating in their chest. Lash out, and vanish into mist. Gumshoes can take one in the head, same to anyone who's ever seen a cop and didn't bludgeon them to death, same to anyone who's ever had a job and didn't hang their fucking boss off the roof at the post office. So come on, let's take a ride like we used to. Daggers drawn, screaming "liberty or death," although I think we wanted both somehow. Came to this world a loaded handgun. I'll leave it empty, or not at all.

Damn dude looks much healthier then way back. Good for him.
I'm not nearly as angry as I was when I first heard this song, and that makes me so damn happy
this version of the song is the definitive one for me. it's great. it's fantastic. almost incomprehensible.
Yes ❤
If there were ever a time for pat to come back it'd be right now.
Or right now

Like John Darnielles angry son. Fuck yeah.
Murry McUntface is it strange that I've listened to Pat the bunny for much longer than Aesop Rock, but Aesop Rock brought me to John darnielle?
It's so difficult to pick a favorite song of his.
so hard, but I think this is it.
try picking one to play next
+VICIOUS Biscuit glorious shipwreck
Zak MFN Garner will do
Audrey Nicole new mexico and church of the condemned

thanks to fistful for putting together such a great live recording of Pat

YESSS! What is it about Pat that's so awesome?!
being so human and raw
I just have to appreciate that this popped up on a "traditional music" mix
Folk music is folk music 😊
I'm pretty sure I like this song more everytime I listen to it
More Pat?! Awesome!
why cant I like it more than once
Day 3- still trying to figure out the strumming pattern. The struggle is real
Keep trying, and record a cover when ya get it!

I think its just 4/4 and the pattern is 1 2 2 1
Make it your own.
Has anyone figured it out? Im so dam confused
amazing
I love pat the bunny
So golden!!!
Does anyone know what he’s doing these days? Because his ideals would be nice right about now
He quit folk punk bc he said he doesn't really agree with its ideals anymore.
his brother posted an update on the folk punk subreddit and it said he’s still pretty radical, just not an anarchist anymore
@@Violet-yh9sk which folkpunk subreddit?
