Exploring Careers in Special Education

The Master of Arts in Teaching in Special Education (MAT-SPED) program is a new learning pathway to be offered in partnership with OSU’s award-winning Ecampus program. MAT-SPED will allow students to complete the degree entirely online except for the final year which will include a practicum experience in a Special Education classroom within their community. During this year, future teachers gain experience with mentor teachers by assisting with lessons and gradually taking on more responsibilities before transitioning to full student teaching.

This program is currently undergoing review by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission and is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2025.
