Thank you for this video! I can relate with you with the unhealthy mindset. I felt like I needed to use Calia and Tek brushes etc! All the people I looked up to used it and when it didn't work out for me, it was disheartening. I also love Bass Wooden Brushes, they are affordable and been using them for years. I didn't want to spend 50 plus dollars on a Tek brush. I also felt I had to do the capillary scheudle for healthy hair and I'm learning that in the end I'm better to sticking to a simple and minimalistic approach. I'm learning it's good to march to your own beat. Happy for you for realizing that you need to do you and use sulfates. Wishing you all the best love 💜💜💜💜✌️

Loved your thoughts in this video. Especially when you were mentioning that unhealthy mindset of wanting something, finally getting it, and then just wanting something else immediately... The desire for "more" and "better" is something I struggle with sometimes in our consumerist society. Mostly I'm able live minimally and happily, but I have my low points too and I try to catch myself when I fall into that unhealthy pattern of thinking and behavior.
Other than that - I love your perspective on sulfates too! They are nothing to fear. Use them if they work for you! I personally use them as I've discovered that is what works best for my hair right now. I try out sulfate-free shampoos every now and then, but I can't go multiple washes with using them only. My hair gets CRAZY buildup if I don't use sulfates at least occasionally. My hair got even MORE dry when I wasn't using sulfates because the buildup was so bad it didn't allow new moisture into my strands!! The struggle was real. But now I just do what works best for me.✨

Thank you! 🖤 Yeah I agree & I think social media is making it a lot harder too! I’m glad you found what works best for your hair 🥰

As someone with finer hair who needs silicones to coat and protect my hair, I use sulphates the majority of the time because I need to clarify and remove any buildup from products. I don’t think they’re as terrible as people make them out to be, as long as you’re not over doing it, and you’re using moisturizing treatments to replenish the hair.
And I’ve definitely been guilty of the “I’ll be happy once I buy this” mentality. Yay consumerism!! 😑
Loved listening to your thoughts on this! I’m slowly working my way through your videos, because I’ve missed a bunch 🤣 and I love how you do your makeup!!

Thank you! I totally agree with that, if you’re using silicones it’s best to use sulphates to clarify & prevent build up 😊 it’s really a terrible thought pattern to get into 😅

Loved it! When I was younger I would watch videos and feel the same exact way, wanting to get all of the hair or makeup products people mentioned but not having the money and it made me really sad. But a lot of people who mention products in a way that makes them sound like a miracle are sponsors anyways and it took me years to figure that out! I think everybody’s hair reacts differently to different things too. I remember seeing a video of a girl raving about coconut oil and her hair was GORGEOUS but my hair does not like coconut oil. I was so confused! Anyways enjoyed the video and you made a lot of good points 🥰

Thank you! I was the same with coconut oil, it’s all I used for a while because someone claimed it was like a miracle hair growth 🤣 but really it’s not the best for my hair type 🖤

This was really helpful as I was in that mindset too so thank you! It's also very true about people promoting products that they don't necessarily like! 😞 Love your eye make up! The pink and green look great together! As for lashes, I find the magnetic ones are really good! xx

Such an informative video Lil Miss Louise and it wasn't boring at all, I totally agree with you. I've been alternating sulphate free and sulphate shampoos for years now since way before sulphate free shampoos and the curly girl method became a thing. I started (years ago) with solid shampoos and handmade lye soap to wash my hair, then I started making my own soap but I found soap left a sort of strange sticky film on my hair. I recently read that you can get rid of that film by rinsing with vinegar though. Now there are sulphate free shampoos and I find them a versatile addition to my huge hair product arsenal haha, but totally unessential because I've been using the solid shampoos and lye soap for years. It's still a useful addition however because I don't always feel like struggling with solid soaps and I find I've been using them more and more for that reason now, liquids are always easier and faster to use than solids. I still use sulphate shampoos when I oil my hair because it's the only thing that removes the oil, but I don't oil my hair very often cos I'm lazy haha.

I’ve never try out the solid soaps for my hair, I’d definitely like to give them a try at some point though! Apple cider vinegar rinses can be really great 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video thank you! 😁

Thank you for saying this. I went back to my natural curly hair, giving up on straightening to try to grow my hair longer. I use xhc shampoo and conditioner that are £1 each, they are really clarifying but the way some influencers are (not all influencers) say you need this or that can put some people in a viscous cycle. I always say take on board what influencers say and if the price is too high look for alternatives, there's always other options ❤️

You are gorgeous and I love this video! I have felt this pressure with products, especially because I practice the curly girl method. Thankfully I did my research and learned more about why they can be harmful and the exceptions. Using sulfate and silicone free products seem to be especially helpful for wavy/curly hair because it supports hair texture better. However, I want to share this same love with my followers because at the end of the day we shouldn't feel pressure to spend ridiculous amounts of money and energy over this. Thank you for sharing and I'll be sure to shout you out when I post!

I've just recently tried sulfate free (I'm 3 washes in) and I'm not mad about it. I'm waiting for the moment I need to clarify with my old sulfate shampoo. For now, my observations are that my hair is hella less dry and my scalp is hella less oily. I don't have a dry or oily scalp but I was apparently angering my scalp by putting it through sulfate washes. It got oily faster and it felt dry just after washing. I didn't wanna splurge on shampoo I couldn't order at a local webshop, so I've started with Giovanni Smooth as Silk and I'm using the Smooth as Silk conditioner as well. So far I'm liking the results, as I said. I'm tempted to buy other brands like Carina Cosmetics, but for now I'm sticking with what's working for me (since it's all very new for me). I think sulfates are almost necessary when you use silicones so for people not into hair care, sulfate free is not necessary at all. Thanks for posting your thoughts! (my handle on insta is completely different btw, I'm 'that redhead' xD)

I’ve been washing my hair with sulfate free shampoos for probably a year and a half now & I haven’t needed to use sulfates to clarify but I can see why some people would need to & I may have to at some point I really don’t know! I’m happy what you’re using is working out for you 🥰 , I think it really is just a matter of experimenting to find what works for each individual, I think everyone’s hair is so different and I wish I had more people around me when I started explaining it all 🖤

Great and honest video! What is the name and shade of concealer which you're using? 😍
I personally use sulphate shampoo before hair lamination or once for like 2 months to clarify my scalp from any possible build up. But I found one brand which is not harmful for scalp and hair: attitude super leaves, definitely worth trying if someone prefers sulphate product. They are using sodium coco-sulpahte which is a little bit more gentle than typical sls

Thank you! It’s the Rimmel London ‘wake me up’ concealer in the shade ivory 🖤 I think people can have a really warped view of sulphates, thank you for the recommendation 😁

Like I said in your first video, you've got the charisma and confidence to make this a real thing 👏👏 The only suggestion I'd make is filming yourself losing your train of thought is a bit distracting, and it may help to edit your videos a little bit more.
Otherwise, you are beautiful, you work with the camera really well, and I look forward to seeing more of you 👌👌👍
