I used to live and work 3 blocks from Apple and I remember buying one of these brand new in April 1997 shortly after moving in. Except I bought the 200 not the 160. This was one of the cheapest Macs ever made. And it was annoying to take apart. It was based on what Apple called CHRP. There was a DOS emulator for OS 9 back then called SoftPC.
That’s interesting. It is surprising for younger people to hear that Apple did something similar to CHRP or that they allowed third party companies to build power Macintoshs that were often much better in terms of performance and were much cheaper than those made by Apple. I have seen on UA-cam another Macintosh model that supported even booting into MS-DOS. And it supported to be in MacOS and MS-DOS at the same time. For how long have you been actually using it, for two years or less/more?
