Thanks so much for your video. I’ve been dealing with the same problem since May 2023; finally got the HIDA scan done in September and the results showed my gall bladder only working at 4% of its normal expected function.
ill be going in for surgery on Monday May 22, 2024. I will surely be watching your other videos.
Please keep me in your prayers. You’ll be in mine

I had surgery for this 2 years ago and I understand everything you've gone through. The pain was so unbearable one night, I was rushed to the er. They didn't know what it was initially but soon after an ultrasound and some tests, I was told I had to have my gallbladder removed because it was passing gallstones. My gallbladder kept releasing gallstones and they would get stuck in a bile duct causing the attack. I do not regret having the surgery because my quality of life has improved since then. Before, every time I would go to the doctor, they would say it was caused by an accumulation of too much stomach acid and prescribed prevacid. It alleviated the pain but, that was only a temporary fix. To anyone who suffers through those horrific pains, talk to your doctor and get that bad boy out!

Hey there, hope your doing well! Just wanted to say that in so happy I came across your video! I've been in a gb attack for 4hrs 😢😫😩😬😑 the pain is unreal. Wanted to see what you think about what im going through and if it sounds like a gb attack or not. Thank yous!❤😘
my gi wants to do a hida scan on mine because an ultrasound back in last nov. Showed 5 stones I believe. When I get an attack it latsts anywhere from 2hrs to 7 or 8hrs, it hard to breathe during it, I get more nauseous than I already am thanks to active crohn's, can barely speak, it feels like stabbing fire everywhere under my rib cage back included, nothing helps it. I didn't think it was an issue, mostly because I'm trying to schedule resection surgery for my crohns and I was told to not worry, until today. I've been in severe pain since 4am (it's now 8am), can't really walk upright, took some meds to try and calm the pain but it's not working. It came on so fast and hard, and has been relentless to the point Where I had tears coming out from the pain, which is saying something as I have a huge and high pain threshold, It takes an insane amount of pain to get me to cry or scream. Not sure where your pain was when you would have an attack, but mine feels like it's in the upper center below my sternum, now I know the gb is technically located on the right but mine got moved left a bit with my first open crohn's surgery. It sucks when there's something more painful than your flare, my normal everyday pain level is around a 7 constantly, and I've been told that my 7 is most people's 10 or higher, I've been at a 9 with flare pain for 6days now, so this gb pain has really caught me off guard, if it doesn't ease up before 11 or noon I might contemplate going to the er for some relief, this shits awful! I'll be more than happy to let them take it out during the resection surgery that's for sure!

Hi, Amy! I have watched all your videos and appreciate the effort you have put in to give us information on gallbladder problems and removal. This Friday (11/22/13) I go to have my gallbladder removed (biliary dyskinesia, no stones) and my ejection fraction was 27%. I had searched the internet for information, but didn't find nearly as much as when I happened upon UA-cam!
I'm so glad you took the time to post your videos and wanted to let you know that it has helped me with what to expect and calmed me a bit! Thank you so much!

My gallstone attacks started when I was seven months pregnant with my son. I woke up in the night thinking, since I also have heart and thyroid problems which I nearly died from in 2009, that I was having a heart attack and I needed to call an ambulance. I ended up not able to breathe at all, my side felt like it was going to burst, and I was panicking which didn't help at all. Finally, the nausea set in, and I vomited violently until nothing was left, and the pain was gone in the blink of an eye. However, the next attacks happened about a month later and I didn't get so lucky. I took three trips via ambulance to the ER here in Kentucky, and my midwife sent me home twice telling me I was not suffering from anything more than a pulled muscle. I was furious and demanded a doctor. I went ahead and switched to a doctor, who took me to get an ultrasound the third time around because I was severely dehydrated and my liver enzymes were abnormal, and what do you know, I ended up getting emergency surgery to have my gallbladder removed. Don't ignore the pain and assume it's a pulled muscle. I'm just saying, I've got a pretty high tolerance to pain and I know when the pain has me crying my eyes out that it's worse than I think. If I hadn't kept going to the ER, there's no telling what would have happened to me or my baby since I was severely dehydrated and could hold nothing down.

got my gallbladder out almost 2 years ago. suffered for years with stomach issues with everything i ate. but the 6 months leading up to removal we had no idea what was going on! i got to the point where i was severely nauseous every single day and missed a lot of school because of it and the stomach pains. finally went to the hospital and had a hida scan done which took about an hour to do. it was painful and just completely uncomfortable. found my gallbladder had only been functioning at 18 and they scheduled me for surgery the following monday. i was hospitalized for a month and a half total leading up to the diagnosis, as i also had appendicitis they luckily caught at the beginning of my hospital stay. after the removal was very hard. but i picked up veganism and it's changed a lot for me! as i can't have anything really fatty or fried, or dairy!

Thank you girl, you're exactly right. This is what I was looking for. I want to hear someone who is going through it describe it. I have no insurance right now and I think it's my gallbladder that's bothering me and everyone around me seems to think so as well. I'm in the denial phase where I think if I just eat better it will go away and that's not working. I'm not eating much because I'm afraid of bringing on the pain and nausea. Almost everything, including my morning coffee worries me after my first initial attack a week ago which came after 《gulp》....I'm embarrassed to say...eating onion rings. Not a typical food for me. I have read online a lot of folks say they'll never forget that meal they had that brought on the first big attack. I'm 56 and for me not to have coffee in the morning says something.《womp-womp》I've gone a long time without having many health problems so this really sucks to have this come up during pandemic and without health insurance. To take care of the pain, I ate a pot cookie which worked really well by the way but then I became super paranoid and started to monkey-brain that I had perhaps stomach cancer or liver cancer or covid-19 or maybe I was having a heart attack and covid-19 at the same time. Relaxing times Eye Dee Claire

My ultrasound came back showing a thickened wall to 7 mm and I was started on IV antibiotics - now discharged on oral and analgesia. But I feel sooo battered. Can't wait to get rid of my gall bladder. My advice to anyone having some pain in this region is go see your doc ASAP. This issue has been grumbling for the last 5 years or more for me and I've ignored it- hence last fri = acute cholecystitis. It was horrific!. Please seek medical advice as soon as grumbling pains start people:-)

I'm 18. I've had stomach issues pretty much all my life. About two years ago I noticed blood in my stool for the first time. I went to the doctor, they did tests, diagnosed me with IBS and then nothing. My stomach continued to hurt and give me problems. Fast forward to present day... Still have severe stomach pain. Went to my dr because blood in stool had returned. I also could not eat anything because it would make me so sick and my stomach hurt so bad. Especially the upper right and middle. This has been going on for 3 weeks now. No blood currently but still not eating but about one small meal a day and lots of nausea and stomach pain. I have had my ultra sound. No gallstones. Waiting to hear of my HIDA appointment. I have an appointment with the GI Monday for everything else. Thank you for posting this. GET THIS THING OUT OF ME

Paulo Vulas it says my comment was 4 years ago at that time they couldn’t figure anything out other than Irritable bowel syndrome and a spastic colon. Had another spell similar starting in January 2019. Colonoscopy and Endoscopy were clear. But in June 2019 I had another HIDA scan and my gallbladder was only functioning at 6%. So I had it removed in July 2019. I still have issues from time to time but no where near as severe as back then.

I have been having issues with pain that sounds similar to this for a while now. Since before May 2014 I would have pain that would only come at night in my back (upper right side) It would happen maybe for an hour so I would have to get up and take pain meds and put a heating pad or something similar on the area in order for the pain to go away. This would happen once every few months sometimes longer. In May of 2014 It came again but this time it was worse and lasted a lot longer. I went to the hospital they tested my urine and said it was a urine infection and gave me meds and that was that. 8 months later I had it again, this time not only was it in my back (right side) I felt like the pain was also at the top of my stomach shooting through to my back. they did blood work (came back negative) urine sample again and said I had a kidney infection so they gave me more meds. Not to mention when I was there and in so much pain they gave me a morphine drip, nausea meds and then after that Vicodin, while it helped a little I could still feel the pain. I went to my Dr. for a follow up 7 days later and I was clear of any kidney infection a told him that the ER Dr. said I should probably have a CT scan of my kidneys urine came back positive for infection within 1 year. My Dr. said that we should do that because its a lot of radiation and since im only 26 he didn't think it was necessary. Well after reading into gallbladder pain and such I am convinced I am having issues with mine. I just can't believe the ER Dr. and 2 other Doctors who I saw about my pain never once thought it could be this. I have another appointment with my primary Dr. ( took 4 months to book) on April 1st and I am going to tell him this is what I think it is because everything fits. Hopefully I will have an answer then so I can be tested.

How did the HIDA scan come out? Was it your gallbladder? Doctors we dismissive of both me and my sister when the ultrasound showed no issues. Turned out after a HIDA her gallbladder was dead and she had to have open surgery because it had attached itself to her liver. I go for my HIDA scan tomorrow.

I was diagnosed wit ibsc 8 years ago and then 4 years was the first time I had a gallbladder attack. I found out being put on Trulicity for my diabetes (new diagnosis) apparently was the the last straw for my gallbladder.

Ive been suffering for 10 yrs and the doctor doesnt seem to be taking my pain seriously, i was told i had h plyori which blood test showed i did NOT another doctor told me i had a UTI which i did NOT another doctor told me i have ibs and celica and i am not celiac... so after being so tired from the pain where i just want to die my dad says to me, you discribe what one of my customers has, haha my dad paints cars, sure enough i do a deep dive on gallbladder issues and look into the areas of pain on reflexology charts and sure enough they all point to gallbladder and liver. So now i tell my doctor look man i really think its my gallbladder so i got sent for blood work thats all fine. And this wednesday i have a ultrasound and im really hoping its just sludge, and not a lot of stones or a massive stone, but man the pain! It never ends. It gets worst with time. It feels like i have a rib out of place and a massive knot or pain in my shoulder i cant discribe and im basically buckeled over in pain 24/7 doesnt matter what i take or eat im in pain. Lord help me 🙏

    Hi, my name's Joseph.
It would seem that I have only started experiencing these symptoms _now_, in my 20s, and although I haven't gone to a doctor as of yet to confirm that it _is_ in fact a gallbladder issue, the pain has in fact been originating from under my right rib-cage.
I just woke up about an hour ago and as I'm sure you'd be able to imagine, I can't quite sleep through the annoyingly increasing pain.
Something I learned pretty recently is that I may have been handed down this gallbladder problem from my dad and trust me, that's the kind of news I would've liked to have known sooner to say the least, haha.
Anyway, it kinda helps me to write this down somewhere instead of suffering in silence.

Thank you so much for posting this informative video! I just had my Gall Bladder removed on 4-24-14. Every thing you said happen to you happened to me also I also have IBS & thought that was why my side was hurting. Once I had my ultrasound My Dr. told me I need to have my Gall Bladder removed. I am so glad I did!!! After the Surgery I did not have a bowel movement for a few days, so I took a stool softener. When they took out my Gall Bladder I had 30 stones in side of it plus a hernna & My Dr. removed that also. Other than I have some stiffness in my stomach every thing is getting better. I hope if other people see your video that it will help them also like your video gave me a more better understanding. I even Google how a gall bladder is removed so I can see what they did to me while I was sleep for the Surgery. I said I can see it now it is over & done with :) Thank you again & I hope this can help someone else. I am hoping I am better with in another week or two, because this is a SLOW healing process.

I had off and on pain in the area of the GallBladder but since I'm on very high dose of pain management (fentanyl and Norco) my pain symptoms were somewhat masked. Not until the GallBladder was at its last state and failed. This was the day I was in so much pain I only remember mentioning the pain to my girlfriend ,arriving at the hospital I could not stand it .I started to vomit in the parking lot and that's the last thing I remember. My girlfriend said I was in surgery within 15-30min. From the time I arrived . I woke up 2 days later looking around asking why was I in the hospital. I believe my gall bladder failure was due to the Norco and vicodin taking these for about 15 years (I've never drank alc. Or fatty salty foods been a vegan 20 years)( auto accident which I broke my back And neck with two disc removed from a crash racing Sprint cars) I wish I had more info. On gall bladder and liver failure symptoms before all of this had happened. I was at deaths door step. Thanks to fast acting E.R .

That's what I'm experiencing.. I have gall bladder issues in my family.. I keep thinking its my appendix but it goes away when Im sleeping but when I get moving in the morning thats when I start to notice discomfort in the right side... If I think about it too much it can set me off with paranoia.. And I know what you mean about getting up and pacing around.. But it does help with the symptoms.. I have nausea right now.. It just comes on quick but subsides when I just relax and stop thinking about it too much.. But I have been having issues with gas and bloating and sometimes I can't burp.. It will come up about half way and stop at the wind pipe.. But usually once I get a good burp in I feel better almost instantaneously.. I just got a burp.. But my grandmother had gall bladder issues and had it removed.. My mother has dipraticulitis I think I spelled it right.. But she can't eat anything with seeds in it without problems and I have a thing with eating the entire apple even the seeds
.so it might have something to do with it.. It's mostly cramps and tenderness and bloating that bother me

Hi Amy, thanks for putting this video up, im glad they found an issue with your gallbladder and can put a stop to it with surgery. Sounds like you have a very good doctor to still proceed with the testing of the Gallbladder. For me im suffering a lot of similar symptoms as you and am yet be told whether its gallbladder or something else. All my tests, bloodwork for liver/pancreas and kindey, Ultrasound, Abdominal Ct's come back with no abnormailties although im being referred to a specialist which could take weeks unfortunately. The main question I wanted to ask is, would the use of painkillers or alcohol spur on the pain and nausea?. I drink very little and avoid pain meds but these have both seem to bring on the pain bigtime. Im also on roaccutane, which I think in the usa is called accutane im wondering if this too could be keeping this pain ongoing. Any advice would be appreciated, im glad your surgery went well.

While it is common to have pain middle to right quadrant of abdomen... If you are experiencing pain in JUST the middle, it could still be your gallbladder. It's way less common but it happens(like in my case). So be persistNt. If you don't feel like your doctor is taking you seriously, find a different doctor. It may or may not be your gallbladder... But it takes a couple tests to rule it out. So what's the harm?
Also , another suggestion, request copies of your tests every time you get a new one... It's important to have everything on record for yourself.
Hopefully this helps someone in pain out there. These are some things i have learned the year I've been living with this.

omg i can relate to this. i was rushed to hospital last night by ambulance, as i suffered with severe pain under my right side of rib. plus the pain went straight to my shoulder and back too. plus my stomach was severe sharp burning pain it was horrible. i ended up on gas and air. had tests done all clear but was told by doctor i might have gall stones. im seeing gp soon so i can get referred for a ultrasound scan to see if its gall stones or not. ive had this issue for years now. i used to think it was a stich as it happened after eating. i couldnt stop crying and screaming last night my husband was brilliant though he was with me all the time comforting me etc....
everytime i eat my stomach burns and i feel very sick too so atm i only eat small portions of food. and drinking plenty of green tea and water. sometimes when im out i have to sit or lie down somewhere when i get that pain its embarrasing.
so im hoping my scan shows me whats going on cos i cant stand this pain anymore.

I really want to get to the bottom of this pain. I have had two ultrasounds that came back normal. Hey Amy, I am 16 and I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis, IBS, GERD, and Gallbladder disease. My injection projection for my gallbladder is 3% since December of 2012 and I have been untreated since I was diagnosed for ALL these things. This past Monday, I went to a new pediatric gastro doctor and he is finally treating me for my EoE and he wants to remove my gallbladder immediately. I'm kinda scared for the outcome since I already don't tolerate food well. What can I expect to eat food wise for the first couple of days? I already have a limit of no dairy, wheat, soy, eggs, shellfish, raw fruits or vegetables.
