Regarding the judoka being banned. Ive seen him in social media competing in various martial arts for the longest time, Wrestling etc etc, it’s not like he could only do one martial art only, infact the organisation tt he trains in have several martial disciplines under its group although judo is the main one. Although I’m quite neutral, as in I don’t like tt ban decision, but I can understand the Organization’s decision. Oh well... sigh..
juan gomez I kinda get it - he used their resources which could have gone to another competitor, doesn’t tell them he’s planning to compete in a different sport, then competes in a different sport AT THE SAME TOURNAMENT
@@roeeorland In that way makes sense. The thing is the dynamic of combat sports is different from other sports, I mean that would be like if a rugby player trains in a rugby facility of a team and later goes to play for NFL.

Gordon Ryan lost all of my respect. One of the problems I have with BJJ guys sometimes is that they don't have the opportunity to be educated and say a bunch of stupid sh_t like they know almost everything. Unlike Baseball, Basketball, football and "kind of" hockey (sorry if I missed others..) they HAVE to stay in school if they want to compete at the highest level. BJJ? Drop out of school when your in secondary 3 ...no problem...
They're mat addicts. See it a lot in BJJ. They have to get their endorphin fix by grappling, and they don't care what's affecting them. Staff, ringworm, mat herpes. Doesn't matter. They will still train.

Stupid parochial judo. It would be so great if this awesome martial art didn’t consistently strangle itself by limiting newaza and the many ignorant decisions it makes around the “sport” of it.
7seatea7 i did watch it previous to my comment. This particular decision is one of many over dozens of years that frustrate me with judo. Judokas should absolutely be able to cross train and cross compete. The guy should have been more up front about it sure. But this is no doubt the reason he wasn’t. You do realize that a person can react to an overall situation without including the details of any one particular incident ad nauseam. Especially since we all just watched the video and understand the greater context. At least you would understand the greater context if you were aware of things I spoke of and much more, not just this one video.
@@G1stGBless I am a judo guy, not a BJJ one so I am well aware context and the deserved reputation that judo orgs have. This doesn't fit into that narrative. There is a 4-page report on SJF disciplinary findings on their website which even states he is allowed to compete in Sambo; "We note that athletes should, in general, have the freedom to choose whether or not to participate in any sports at any time". So why was he banned? He was taking money and resources from other judoka when he had no intention of doing the job he was provided with those resources for. For all we know there was some judoka who was forced to work a day job alongside keeping up with training and competitions (maybe on his own dime) because our guy here found there was less money in Sambo, therefore chose to lie and keep his judo stipend. Oh did I mention he was captain of the SEA games team whilst he was doing this? If SJF was a private company he would have been fired and never hired by them again. A two year banning from SJF events is more than reasonable.
7seatea7 1. Most that information was not in the video so the original comment about watching it is irrelevant. 2. Naturally they are going to say that. What else would they say after all? 3. Anything could be true and we don’t know which is in this case. Its speculative either way but I tend to not give boxing commissions, ibjjf, or judo orgs much trust at all. It would make no sense for him to be given full rights and privileges and then burn his bridges. Most competitors aren’t that stupid. He could be but my guess is they are lying. 🤷♂️

Gordon was still right that Keenen only came after certain people who are still training.
