The year I first got, and later adopted, my older girls, it was November and I had just moved. We made strings of popcorn, colored paper chains, glitter glued to plastic dollar store balls and ornaments with aluminum foil. I didn't want them to have fear of breaking something and still have the joy of being able to create and decorate. I still have some of those ornaments 35 years later. Nothing melts your heart more than the look on a child's face when their Christmas tree is lit up. It's pure innocent joy.

This will be the first Christmas without my Gramma, we would bake pies together every year, I was in charge of the crust and she handled the filling, I didn’t think I’d be so emotional watching but you unlocked something deeper for me this season, thank you for reminding me to see joy in the holidays this year even though things are very different!

      Beautiful video.
      Many great ideas.
Would you mind sharing the name of your wallpaper over the fireplace please, or post the link to the video it may be named in. I think it would be perfect for my bedroom renovations (if still available).

A tip for baking with gluten free flour blend. If you allow your gluten free flour based items an extra 20-30 minutes to rehydrate before you bake, your end product will not be gritty.
Also your recipe might need a little more liquid (not very much extra) to account for what the flour blend absorbs.
You can add the extra liquid if needed AFTER your recipe has had time for the flour to rehydrate.
Also if you roll your dough out in between parchment paper or on a baking mat you can avoid adding extra flour to your dough which will add a bit of the gritty texture to the end product because it hasn’t had a chance to fully rehydrate like the flour you let rest.
Have you ever tried adding some of your freeze dried crushed raspberries to your marshmallow mixture to flavor it and give it a bit of pretty color flecks?

Kelsey, may I just say that your choice of music is always so beautiful! I loved it when Elenor said, “the perfect tree” how sweet and how attentive she is! When you turned on the tree lights it looked so beautiful and the garland was a great find at $10 considering how lovely each looked. I purchased some garland last year that didn’t get used but will use it this year. Yours reminds me of what mine will look like and I’m excited to get started decorating! Can we also just say, nice work dad on the manger! Your Christmas home is warm, cozy and inviting!

Simplicity always makes the biggest statement and you did it perfectly! It is refreshing to see you decorate your home without spending alot of money and very helpful to many in this stage of the economy. I remember as a child ( 60 plus years ago) when we strung popcorn we always let it sit out for a few days to get stale. It made it easier to string without it breaking. I miss all the holiday preparations I did with my dad, then my son. Our lives change but our memories always remain with us. You are making beautiful memories with your family. Thank you for sharing. Blessings !

Number 296 to like this video... Thank you so much for bringing some happiness and tears ... wonderful memories of people who are not here anymore... Don't wait for the next year... We only have now. I swear our babies were just born yesterday and now in their teens and twenties... Their hunt for the tree with Daddy and hot apple cider after. Thank you for this. Hugs from Esquimalt

    Pumpkin crumb bread.
    1 can pumpkin
    3 tsp baking powder
    2 eggs
1 box (4 cups) crushed graham crackers
Mix all together and put in a greased loaf pan. 350° F for 40 mins or till a toothpick comes out clean. You can let it cool and top with an icing of your choice but I like it warm and without any icing on it.

I have been gluten free for about 10 years. A GF baking hack is after you get your product mixed together, let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes before baking (or rolling out or scooping if it's cookies) GF flour needs time to rehydrate unlike regular all purpose flour. It will help the texture of whatever you're baking.

Hi Kelsey, just a little trick to get rid of the grainy texture when baking cookies with 1:1 flour, let it rest for 30 min so that the flour has time to hydrate properly. 😀 hope it helps! ☺️

Kelsey, your home is so beautiful, I absolutely love the feeling I get when watching your video's it's like your home is giving everyone a big hug. Thank you for sharing it with us. I'm also always jealous this time of year watching you all decorate for Christmas, everything is soo cosy and snuggly, all those nice treats and hot drknks. It's 40 degrees, (104 in your terms) humid and stormy where I live in Australia right now 🥵 I would so love to experience a white Christmas one day xx

You have inspired me to actually decorate for Christmas. I just haven't been in the mood for it lately. You got me to thinking about how I can use some of the things I already have to add a pop of color in places. That chocolate syrup looks so good. I can't believe how easy those marshmallows were to make. Your home looks so festive and inviting.

Thank you for taking us along on your Christmas traditions! You did not have to do that! The recipes look wonderful! My husband has been wanting chocolate syrup! 😂 I'll have to make that. And I love how you drizzled thise cookies! They're beautiful, but they didn’t require all that much work. I'm wondering how you store your homemade marshmallows. I haven't made a popcorn/cranberry strand in nearly 37 years! Precisely because it felt like it took that long to string just a few feet! The garland you bought looks real! I hope it lasts you a long time. Merry Christmas! May you and your sweet family enjoy the birth of our Savior!
