- United Nations General Assembly voted to back Palestinian bid for a permanent membership. 143 nations including India, China, Russia, France and Iran voted in favour of the resolution while Israel and the United States voted against. 25 countries including Canada and Britain abstained. The UNGA resolution makes Palestine eligible for full membership of the United Nations. Watch this video for more information.
