Other comedy sci-fi I would recommend: 5th element, Men in Black , Space Balls, Weird science, Time Bandits and Inner space . Let me know any suggestions you have for future video topics!

"Deathrace 2000" is so woven into our culture that people who have never seen it point at pedestrians in the roadway and quip "10 points!"
"Cocoon" is about the only mainstream screen appearance of the lovely and gracious Tahnee Welch, more's the pity... She got stuck in B-Movie Hell.
"Ice Pirates"-I salute the person who costumed the extras!
OK< so classics like "Space Balls" isn't there but "Galaxy Quest" being on the list redeems the list.

Mars Attacks, Young Frankenstein, Death Race 2000, Evolution, Cocoon, The Ice Pirates, Short Circuit, Galaxy Quest - have watched 7 out of 8. But I agree, there are some other movies that deserve more to be on this list: John Carpenter's Dark Star, Back to the Future, Explorers and (my personal favorite) Buckaroo Banzai. Also: Spaceballs, Time Bandits and Killer Klowns From Outer Space are worth mentioning.

Galaxy Quest: Best Star Trek movie ever.
Short Circuit: What Chappie wanted to be but couldn't.
Cocoon: Would have put MiB in its place.
Death Race: Why isn't this in the distopian list instead? Or maybe make a Deadly Games movie list?
Evolution: The movie that brough "Play that funky music" back.
Young Frankenstein: on second thought, shouldn't you have saved it for the horror comedy list?
Mars Attacks: Greatly underappreciated, one of the few trading card movie adaptations in existence, the other one being the Garbage Pail Kids.
Ice Pirates: Where can I watch it?

Because the Hitchhiker's Guide movie was bad. The BBC miniseries was good though.

    • @MuttleyMutter
      @MuttleyMutter 7 років тому

The BBC TV series of Hitchhiker was dreadful, with a squeaky Sandra Dickinson making a complete mess of Trillian (although the script didn't help) and unfunnily awful BBC effects. The radio series, the first appearance of Hitchhiker on broadcast, is, by contrast, fall-off-your-chair funny.
The movie is pretty good, as long as you're not expecting a "film of the book". Douglas Adams would never leave the plot alone, which is why the books are different from the radio series, the TV series is different from the books and the movie (coming a very long time after all the others) is different again.
Nothing is as good as the first radio series.

I'm going waaaay out on a limb by suggesting "Return of the Killer Tomatoes". Much better and funnier than it's predecessor. It also stars a very young and unknown George Clooney as one of the teens in the movie. When I watched it, I remarked that the kid had more charisma in his little finger than we had in our entire bodies combined! "That kid is gonna be a big star someday".

No starship troopers!? This list in incomplete, that is hands down the greatest b grade sci fi comedy even made. Would you like to know more?

I love Starship Troopers but it's an action drama with a lot of great humor, not a comedy. My opinion ... great comment BTW.

I think you may be confusing satire with comedy.

Sci-Fi comedy is even more difficult to do well than "actual" sci-fi. Does Bad Taste qualify as comedy and sci-fi? I found Grabbers weirdly amusing (on UA-cam). And Starship Troopers started having some appeal after second time seeing it, like ten years after first time.

I love :Starship Troopers" for the (unintended) comedy.
Funniest line: "Not with an officer. No, sir. The MI doesn't mint stupid troopers."
Strangely, I was the only one in the theater who laughed. :-(

It's a hard one to call.. Starship troopers makes me laugh a lot- the same goes for Bad Taste and Big trouble in Little China.. I guess it all depends on the person.

Good! I often have seen most of the films on your lists and was expecting that this time too, but was very positively surprised I have now many new films to watch. Good job!
Although these list style videos always make people shout out for their favourite movies, I think they are best when they contain something I haven't seen yet.

I'd hardly consider Cocoon a comedy, it's more drama than comedy. If Cocoon is a comedy then so is E.T. the Ice Pirates is supreme B-movie camp and pretty good movie but the last 15 mins are bad.

The original Death Race was awesome. I saw it as a young kid in the 1970's, told my friends about it, they thought I was making up a fantastic story.

I went to see it at the drive in at midnight on a Saturday night after I got off work. Little did I know the drive in showed (soft) porn at that time. I couldn't figure out how all the tits and ass was going to lead in to a sci fi movie...and it didn't. So that's how I saw my first porno.
